I think the limo driver was a play on Oddjob (the limo driver) from Goldfinger. Also, Cheryl's last name in totality is "Vandertunt" a play on Vanderbilt, who weren't southerners, but did deal with railroads and shipping during the guilded age so prolly had some very close connections with slavers
