There is something to be learned from going second. When going second, you try to do things to not fall behind even further. But, by doing such things as coining out big tempo plays, or making high risk plays, you still lose. When you are resolved from the beginning, you will not be perplexed, though you will still lose. This understanding extends to all things.
0:04 - [Talkerino] 3:25 - just seconds 3:41 - can we make a comeback? 7:52 - at least it was Priest 13:28 - never easy 19:01 - yup... 24:21 - the difference: my next game
>draft at least 3 legendaries >don't kill a 5/2 that could trade with your 3/5 >go 1-3 this warrior was honestly the most upsetting thing about this video
I'd like to argue that kripp losing more when going second is mainly because of his playstyle. While it is true that going first statistically increase your chance of winning, not utilizing the coin effectively (like using coin on t6) does not help to control the board early. If one wants to seize early board contron going second, one should draft more 2 cost cards and play 2 drop on t1 and t2 / or 4 drop on t3 and t4. This gives player going second early tempo advantage, which is enough to increase the chance of winning.
Kripp, as a Warlock, went second 7 times consecutively in an Arena run. He went 4-3. But in his next run as Warlock he went first and won the opponent Warlock. You're welcome.
Conclusionerino Kripperino I had a warlock arena where I went second NINE TIMES! I won every time I went second, and got 12 wins. www.heartharena.com/arena-run/ndpbdq
Contract Killerino Kripperino but that's not being nice, if we want you to kill someone, we tell you to (and give you sum cash), but today you're not even giving us the choice, rude
What if: First player gets to go first AND gets the coin. Second player starts with 2 mana and goes up normally from there. That way, 2nd player has an 8 turn mana advantage (never has a 1 mana turn), 1st player gets to go first and has a 1 mana ramp/spell. Thoughts?
I like what other card games do, shadoverse just makes you draw 2 cards no coin needed. My favorite which is the Elder Scrolls card game gives you a coin but with 3 uses. I think that's something Hearthstone could benefit from.
About 2 months ago, I started tracking when going first or second (the month before that, I always had the feeling that I was going second far more often than going first). 2 months and approximately 600 games later, I tracked that 84% of the games I play (no matter which mode), I go second ... well, I guess that somebody has to go second. ;/
this one is a legitimate complaint, the difference in chances of winning between going second is too wide. Though i do feel like the idea of having to draw and play resource is an antiquated idea, i also feel like it was what organically made magic more balanced for whether you are going first or second.
Suggestion : Give the Second play 3 coins. on turn 1, 4, and 7. 3 chances to catch up on tempo. If Blizzard is willing to experiment, they might give that a try for 1 month or 2 and see if things get more balanced.
Kripp. I got a good Idea to solve that. GO Second and GO First should be a Pattern on arena. For example: If you went Second. then you will go first and play against "a Second player match". That should solve The problem. every arena you will go second 6 times
I'm pretty sure he had at least one more direct damage source in hand. And even if he didn't have one besides the Bane of Doom, then he had Jeweled Scarab to look for Drain Life, Wolfrider or Argent Horserider.
Kripp idk if the going second stats are valid because I did a warlock arena run last night and ended 8-3. I started off 7-0 going second 6 of those 7 games, and then my last 4 games i went first 3-4 times and lost all 3 games I went first in. maybe I got lucky but I have been winning a large number of times going second as well as going first.
Klaidas B-vas I never said I was guaranteed to win going first. I was just kind of saying that I think his stats could be a little off because I have played quite a bit of arena recently and i don't see that coin toss problem. idk if it's just me but I don't have an issue going first or second.
Austen Kruse The only thing I ask is Blizzard to come out with official stats of this if they haven't already. If this is such a big problem I feel Blizzard would've already addressed it and made attempts to fix it. Standard arena just kind of removed a lot of broken cards to maoe it more fair for everyone. Blizzard hasn't made an attempt to really fix this issue and i feel there is a reason why.
We are only hearing views from Kripp and some otherbig Hearthstone players, but if it was such a huge issue like they are saying I feel Blizzard would have already known and made attempts to fix it. That is my opinion on the situation.
they could simply fix this problem by just make sure you will be the first player IF YOU HAVE PLAYED TWO GAMES AS SECOND PLAYER. so one in three game you will have a fighting back chance
Not that hard to put a safety hard cap like after 3 games of pure 1st/2nd switch it up and re-randomize the next game. Only issue to account would be DC's.
so if warlock is in the top 3-4 class doesn't that mean it could be the 4th best class out of seven classes in the meta so it beats out the decks that are viewed as garbage to meme while losing to good to broken top classs ?
The spells are real.... played a shaman at 1-1 and he had lava burst, lightning storm, 2 stormcrack, 2 lightning bolt, and a hex. And that was only in the first 15-20 cards.
The chances of going second(Or first for that matter) twelve times in a single arena run is 0.02%. So it'd be really hard to have all coin flips land on second/first. Plus, that's not taking into account going second/first and losing the game. Either way, it's fairly likely that you won't ever have a game like that, so that's fun.
They should really add a feature to hearthstone arena where if you go first your first game you would be forced to go second for your next game and then you go first for your third game.
To me fair in the last game if Kripp didn't draw the shattered sun cleric he would be in a much worse position. Opponent could have cleared the minion on board and saved a ton of damage. At least bought himself another turn or two and then who knows
Why don't they just make it less rng with going first by doing a 50/50 flip on your first game and then alternate after that? So first game you roll that you got first next game you'll go 2nd, then first again and so on..
So it seems pretty unlucky to go 2nd 7 times in a row but it's actually just 1/128, right? In Kripp's My Gadgetzan Arena Stats video, released Jan 8th 2017, Kripp had played 57 runs since release of MSoG, which was December 1st 2016. Let's cut out say the 7 runs to give us an even 50 in one month. So 50 runs a month, with an average winrate of 7.86 wins per run. (All stats from Blizz website that he shared on that video) So every 3 months Kripp does 150 runs. So we can expect Kripp to go second EVERY game of an arena run once every 3 months!!! Kripp has been playing Hearth since Beta, but I doubt he played as much as he does now, so let's just look at the past 1.5 years, that's 18 months. This should have happened to Kripp SIX TIMES in the past year and a half alone, but I don't recall it ever happening. Never Lucky? or Mostly Lucky?
man going second shouldn't be as bad as it is, but it genuinely feels lime going second is losing a vital coin flip... it's so depressing because it seems like 70% of the time I and I'm sure many other people feel like we lose what should be a 50-50 coin flip... going second 5 times in a row in arena is just straight up unfair, I think in arena it should be regulated

Should we get ready for alt righterino kriperino? :3
DEUS VULTERINO KRIPPERINO
Fucking love this Kripperino. Seriously
I hope Kripp discovers he has a long lost, older brother so he's always second =\.
I'd like to argue that kripp losing more when going second is mainly because of his playstyle. Hey krip, I'm relatively new(past 2 months or so) to your channel and I'm loving it. Keep up the great work and have a great day
Kripp, as a Warlock, went second 7 times consecutively in an Arena run. He went 4-3. But in his next run as Warlock he went first and won the opponent Warlock. You're welcome.
If you go 2nd as a Warlock in arena you will probably lose. (and also make Kripp super salty)
Jesus Christ, another good idea from you Conclusionerino Kripperino! Cheers!
Conclusionerino Kripperino I had a warlock arena where I went second NINE TIMES! I won every time I went second, and got 12 wins. www.heartharena.com/arena-run/ndpbdq

Either you ran out of contracts or try to hide something. What is it, CKK?
Contract Killerino Kripperino but that's not being nice, if we want you to kill someone, we tell you to (and give you sum cash), but today you're not even giving us the choice, rude
will you change your mind if i pay well enough?
Weak praydiction 19:01.
Good prediction: 22:42.

This is one of those "This is unfair, my opponent has cards!" games.
The craziest part was when a paladin had consecration.
A total of 6 legendaries were played. 1 by Kripp and 5 by his opponents.
What if: First player gets to go first AND gets the coin. Second player starts with 2 mana and goes up normally from there. That way, 2nd player has an 8 turn mana advantage (never has a 1 mana turn), 1st player gets to go first and has a 1 mana ramp/spell. Thoughts?
"There's gonna be a little salt. But... try and be analytical about what's going on..." No! I'm here for the salt and the salt only!
What if the player that goes Second has 2 Mulligans? Or if he can mulligan 1 card after the first mulligan
I know this has nothing to do with the video but I got my first 12 wins in arena today! It was 12 - 0 as well!
dat 50% chance....
I like what other card games do, shadoverse just makes you draw 2 cards no coin needed. My favorite which is the Elder Scrolls card game gives you a coin but with 3 uses. I think that's something Hearthstone could benefit from.
Is that lethal at 11:56 or would the heal stop him from dying?

So what would actually be a good fix for people going second?
at 11:57 missed lethal. 18 damage on board. felfire potion 5 damage for 6 mana and hellfire 3 damage for 4 mana = 8
18+8 = 26. Opponent has 26 health.
Sylektria Mistress deathrattle?
oh... you are right! i did not see that!
this one is a legitimate complaint, the difference in chances of winning between going second is too wide. That should solve The problem.
every arena you will go second 6 times
You would think that by now they would have come up with a better way to balance first vs second by now
That warlock with Bane of Doom was a noob. Imagine if he discarded it and lost because of it...
Voojitsu Could've had more direct damage in hand
I'm pretty sure he had at least one more direct damage source in hand. And even if he didn't have one besides the Bane of Doom, then he had Jeweled Scarab to look for Drain Life, Wolfrider or Argent Horserider.
No period in the description after 'Warlock'.
Clorox Bleach is Latin for "Life Water"
That moment when you come to comment section so early that there are not ONLY kripperinos in here.
Kripp showed his Arena statistics a day ago and guess what he was going 6 times more first than second, so this is fair, it might be even again.
why can't the second player draw one additional card?
How do you check overall deck score?
"THIRD BANE OF DOOM!" Destroyed! :O
I had some food and it tasted pretty bland, but Kripp's salt made it a lot better.
Can you play moroes in zoolock?
So. Are we supposed to just punish players who go first so the player goes second 'has a chance'?
Gamzee Makara Yes, the player going 1st should be punished in order to balance the win rates between 1st and 2nd
PandaPwnage you are not guaranteed to win if you go first but you are more likely to. kripp plays a lot and his stats clearly show that
Klaidas B-vas I never said I was guaranteed to win going first. I was just kind of saying that I think his stats could be a little off because I have played quite a bit of arena recently and i don't see that coin toss problem. idk if it's just me but I don't have an issue going first or second.

they could simply fix this problem by just make sure you will be the first player IF YOU HAVE PLAYED TWO GAMES AS SECOND PLAYER. so one in three game you will have a fighting back chance
My Always Seconds Streamer
Wait...That last warlock risked discarding lethal to get the bane of doom BM kill. Unless he had even more burn in hand
Are we all ignoring the misplay at 6:06? Or am i missing something. The nerubian could have been a 4/2
Just a math check. Is average win rate of everyone 3 wins or can i be hiegher And i suck at math And logic?
My Always Salty Arena
Not that hard to put a safety hard cap like after 3 games of pure 1st/2nd switch it up and re-randomize the next game. Only issue to account would be DC's.
@ 6:04 isnt that a SMOrc moment? i mean freeze the elise and go face. maybe trade the horse rider
so if warlock is in the top 3-4 class doesn't that mean it could be the 4th best class
out of seven classes in the meta so it beats out the decks that are viewed as garbage to meme while losing to good to broken top classs ?
"Dude, fuck going second"
Just start 2nd player... off with 2 mana. Don't give them an extra card or anything, just make it so each turn a player is ahead in some way.
Instead of asking Blizzard to fix the "always second problem" can we ask them to fix the difference between going first compared to going second?
yup the going second curse if fuking real Kripperino who agrees ?...
Of course I would!!!! I'm DA BOSS.
how do you fix someone going second? Doesn't someone have to be second always lol?
why play a game that is a glorified coin flip
Jaskaran Singh you balance it to make going second fair. they are trying but failing to do it
You can fix it by changing the matchmaking so you can't go second multiple games in a row i guess, but i'm no expert.
The spells are real.... played a shaman at 1-1 and he had lava burst, lightning storm, 2 stormcrack, 2 lightning bolt, and a hex. And that was only in the first 15-20 cards.
Blizzard HATES Kripp, its simple.
Rest in many pieces.
23:24 that warlock's order was terrible lol
When you going second you always get the best CRYYYYYYYSTALS, fresh from Kazakerino.
They should really add a feature to hearthstone arena where if you go first your first game you would be forced to go second for your next game and then you go first for your third game.
If that last bane of doom would have spawned illidan or fearsome doomguard that would have been the best troll from the rng EVER
I finished the bowl of cereal before he even finishes talking
That guy should have been super punished for the soul fire before the bane of doom.
To me fair in the last game if Kripp didn't draw the shattered sun cleric he would be in a much worse position. Opponent could have cleared the minion on board and saved a ton of damage. At least bought himself another turn or two and then who knows
Thats my type of arena. FeelsWeirdMan
God damn kripperinos
Kripp's coin flip luck is pretty much in line with the rest of his HS luck, preeeeeeeeeeeeeeety bad.
Underdog
1 mana 1/1. Battlecry: if your opponent has more mana crystals, gain +2/+1.
Problem solved.
Why don't they just make it less rng with going first by doing a 50/50 flip on your first game and then alternate after that? So first game you roll that you got first next game you'll go 2nd, then first again and so on..
They should just always give the coin to the best deck based on the arena tier scores

classic salterino kripperino
7:50 wot?
kripps chance to go second 7 times in a row is 1 out of 128, never lucky
Lol those first battles :D
Dont forget kripp--- you get an EXTRA CARD for going second :)
12:00 missed lethal with board is 18 dmg and fellfire + hellfire is 8 dmg = 26 dmg someone tell me im wrong
nvm stupid mistress heal on the boardclear destroys lethal
Hello guys Octavian here.
a week ago i drafted 7 legendaries in arena , i actually choose them, didnt get them from any card, and i got more legendaries from discover cards
[Hearthstone] My Always -Second- Salty Arena
Fixed the title for ya Kripp!
I usually go like 8 out of 11 games second so I got used to.
Is hearthstone an instrument?
So it seems pretty unlucky to go 2nd 7 times in a row but it's actually just 1/128, right? In Kripp's My Gadgetzan Arena Stats video, released Jan 8th 2017, Kripp had played 57 runs since release of MSoG, which was December 1st 2016. Let's cut out say the 7 runs to give us an even 50 in one month. So 50 runs a month, with an average winrate of 7.86 wins per run. (All stats from Blizz website that he shared on that video)

How about: "The Coin: When played at 1 mana, give the next minion played this turn charge and immune"
Siebje How about an extra mana crystal. Coin was balanced at first, but now the turn 5 game over blizzard has created, coin isn't enough.
man going second shouldn't be as bad as it is, but it genuinely feels lime going second is losing a vital coin flip... it's so depressing because it seems like 70% of the time I and I'm sure many other people feel like we lose what should be a 50-50 coin flip... going second 5 times in a row in arena is just straight up unfair, I think in arena it should be regulated
I never go first, for some reason i find myself second turn 10 without any minions, hopefully blizzard will fix.
Yeah i also went second every single time. Ended 0-3.
He goes 7 games in a row without getting 1st, and the game after that run finishes, he gets 1st. Seems about right.
The guy he lost to who had 3 bane of dooms, would've missed lethal had he discarded the bane, unless he had played it first.
Johny Bender Unless he had more burn
why not put the arena like you always go one game first then one game second...then next arena you always go one game second then one game first...problem solved... kindof...
That was turn 6.
