Shares a lot of engine sounds from Gran Turismo. From the Focus to the Mustang, and the GT90. Even when starting a replay, it sounds just like Gran Turismo with the engines revving up.
It's interesting to note how in some later PS1 games they actually have the higher resolution closer textures designed to counter the warping, usually for ground textures, so sometimes using an emulator's prospective correction actually makes the textures look warped just as they pass by the camera anyway.😅
Sure it's a poor man's Gran Turismo, but I still enjoy playing it. Does anyone have the game save with everything unlocked? Playing through the career mode seems boring!
Actually, "career mode" for racing games didn't exist back then and we were OK with that. We just have to pass races in a "ladder" style or win tournaments. Neither way was boring. GT will have us winning the same tournament over and over in order to get some cash, for example.

@@sotsubreivaj Gran Turismo simulation mode was fun actually, don't get me wrong. But I'm the kind of racing gamer that likes to create my own custom races and just have fun with the racing, really.
I remember this game looking a lot better lol, well i also remember Toca World Touring cars (aka Jaret & Labonte racing) looking great and I revisited the game some years ago and it ran at like 15 fps lol Thats one game that I would love to see at 60 fps with Duckstation hacks man
TOCA World Touring Cars actually has an usable 60FPS cheat! You need to overclock the emulated console to over 300% but it works great. However, 60FPS introduces slight physics issues so my preferred way to play this game was at 30FPS with 175% overclock, for a rock solid 30FPS instead of fluctuating 15-25FPS.
@@CookiePLMonster hahaha that's amazing, they probably were expecting to port the game to Dreamcaat and use the 60 fps option there, obviously that console sinked when many studios were working on it Sounds like a great idea to try but sadly I dont think I have a Pc strong enough to try it, thats why I love these videos
@@miguelelgueta5830 You should still try, overclocking the PS1 bumps up the system requirements a bit but it's still not bad. Especially with a recompiler you should be able to overclock the console without worrying about perf drop, as long as you don't go overkill like 1000%
@@CookiePLMonster I just tried it, I have to say thay my Ryzrn 2500u Vega 8 is a lot better than I though and Duckstastion is fantastically fast because it ran super well as you said, it plays great at 160% overclock Its really funny how far were Codemasters from a 30 fps target and how the media back then was so bland in their reviews to that game, which is sometimes basically unplayable
did anyone else also take the jump on the left at 10:31 ? I remember you could do it on the left side of the bank but not the right, even though they're symmetrical lol
I don't know now or the last 10 years, but back then if someone developed a game based on a sole brand it most likely ended in a not very good game, to say at least.
By the time this game came out, there were already a few racing games that feature the Dodge Viper, both the GTS and RT versions. I guess more modern games too.Why not? It's a total icon.

If you're talking about the pc version, then it's alright. But the PS1 port is just godawful really.

I played Ford Racing on the Sony Play Station 2 when I was a Big Young Kid that’s why I played it on That Console.

Ford Racing on PS1 can be described as the most failure racing game to replicate Gran Turismo and TOCA. And what worse this game came out in 2001!.
