Would be nice if BenQ can do a 32 inch 5k monitor. The 60 Ghz is not the end of the world, but if it has the "Coding" mode, I may just get it. Thanks for the video.
Finally! I've got 2 BenQ SW series at home, served us really well these past 2 years but my only gripe was the resolution. If and once 5K spills over to the SW lineup, I'll trade them in.
It depends on so many things like budget and other things. The 5K will most likely be a good choice but I did a video on a mid range 4K by BenQ about 2 weeks ago which is a good option for a smaller budget.
On the “binned down” A17 Pro chip, if you calculate the percent difference between the iPad Mini 7 and iPhone 15 Pro, the percent differences are “a difference that makes no difference”. Since Apple didn’t raise prices, and increased RAM and base model storage, I see nothing to complain about here … unless you want upgrades to happen more often than 2 to 2.5 years. Some wanted a 120 Hz refresh rate, but let’s see how well the A17 Pro handles the video.
I bought a used iMac Pro several months ago for $800. Apple's great 5k display, very good speakers, quad microphones and a nice webcam. And it includes a computer with a Vega 56 video card. It supports up to 4 external monitors as well. So I can use it running macOS and it should receive feature updates for another two years and then three years of security updates after that and then I can just use it as a monitor or run Windows or Linux on it. If you need a 5k monitor on a Mac but you don't have huge CPU requirements, a used iMac Pro for $600 - $750 may be a good way to go. If you need more horsepower, there are 10, 14 and 18 core models out there. I plan to order an iPad mini 7 next week. Only decision is 256 GB or 512 GB of storage. I'm not recommending the 13 inch M1 MacBooks because I've seen too many cases of FlexGate on those models. I recommend M2 or later because they were redesigned.
I just can't bring myself to get the base M2 or M3 MacBooks even on sale when the M4 MacBook Airs that'll likely start with 12 or 16 GB of memory are right on the horizon.
@@craigneidel Yes, but. The next display you buy should be made for the coming decade, not the past decade. To be like every other 5K display is not a good selling proposition.
I think we will need monitors with thunderbolt 5 before we will see 5K or more monitors with 120 Hz or faster displays as Thunderbolt 4 does not have the necessary bandwith.
I picked up an IPad Air 5th Gen with M1 chip new for $399 at Wal-Mart when the M2 iPad Air came out. Looks like all the new M1 iPad Airs are gone now. 😢 Great deal while it lasted.
They couldn't "just wait 1 more week" because the devices are manufactured and boxed weeks ago with the old OS. It they waited for the new OS the devices probably wouldn't be able to ship before Christmas
I’ll just say that typically I’ll take the phone off the charger in the morning and at the end of the day it’s down to around 50-60% charge. Sometimes I don’t put it on the charger at night.
I know this was not mentioned but my 15 Pro Max wifi has been dropping out ever since iOS 17 and I have upgraded to iOS 18 now . I have done everything I can find on the internet to fix it but still drops out. It is not my router because my MacBook Pro has wifi where the iPhone shows no wifi. Just wondering if anyone else is having the same problem ?
I don't think the iPad Mini 7 is "binned" versus iPhone 15 Pro; the process of "binning" is turning that of turning off a core which did not meet testing requirements. A certain number of chips don't fully pass and binning allows Apple to sell them still but with the failing cores being turned off. The small variances you're seeing are almost sure just down to how fast the chip is being run at. By slowing it down a little they may have been trying to balance battery life with performance but it's hard to know what they were aiming for.
Yea the Ben Q cheaps out with the plastic housing, and I don’t even know what the point of having a USB A port is in, what is it now, almost 2025. That is actually a waste of manufacturing money that could be devoted to HDMI or Thunderbolt. I guess it depends on the price, but one thing with these 3rd party monitors is that sometimes they don’t wake up when you touch the keyboard. So maybe you get 75% of the value of an actual Studio Display. It might be worth it.
your take on that apple vision pro article is interesting. the best use cases for tech like that is in places like surgery, but is it good enough or not and how do we really test it safely is an important question. As for that robbery news, if they were smart enough to make an honest living, they wouldn't be robbers in the first place. i'm glad that criminals are stupid XD.
Every year someone drops out of the Apple ecosystem saying enough is enough. This year it’s me! Not upgrading to the iPhone 16, it’s a lot of premium hot air. Apple used to be a no brainer, sure you pay premium price. But you also get a premium product. That you can show of to your friends. Look I can afford a premium product. Making my pipi look a bit bigger then yours.
I don't think it's about that too much. I mean I have used Windows laptops for 25 years before I switched to Mac. I also have 3 Windows laptops as I review them. But 95% of the time I use the Mac because it's easier with updates, security, ecosystem, and more. So there are other reasons but it's not right for everybody for sure and that is fine.
@@craigneidelYou nailed it. The thing with alot of tech now and if we are talking about apple then let’s use that example. The switch to Applesilicon has almost made the product not to good but the idea to upgrade all the time is not necessary. Yeah, I wish they did one also but so far only the 27 inch is being shown.
for 32 inch 6k is sweetspot, not 5k
24 4.5k
27 5k
32 6k

Oct.28th for Mac 18.1 could that be when they have their release deal?😅

I just hope my imac 27” 5k can just turn into just monitor for upcoming mac m4 so i dont need to buy new monitor for it😢
Yeah, the 27" was not capable of being an external monitor.
Too small, wrong aspect ratio, no OLED.

It has 1 less GPU. Call it what you will
The newest Mini is disappointing. I think the chip is in fact binned. Apple never explicitly discloses this info; you can only infer this.
absolutely do not buy the air m2 8/256 refurb for that price... it was just 700-750 for NEW at best buy, costco, etc.
