My sister and I lucked out...I found front row seats to this show early in the run... WOW! WHAT A FANTASTIC SHOW.. AND THE ACTING AND MUSIC TOP NOTCH...That is missing in BROADWAY...
I cannot tell you how much i appreciate you posting this vid, i have been dying to see clips of this show!! Thank you thank you! Would it be to awful to post more??
adjh;dskfj does anyone have a full version of this recording? This is one of my favourite musicals ever, even though I've unfortunately never seen the show.
What a fool I have been to wonder If he might have a care for me How insane the thought that you Could be to him dear in any way That a more absurd young girl has lived I doubt that you could say! You, a favorite of Mr. Rochester? Gifted with the power? Your logic's fading by the hour And to no avail, Jane! Poor, blind puppy! Had to go on dreaming Had to try to give your life some meaning Still you fail, Jane! How dare you think there's a place In his heart for you? I'm painting my portrait An absolute likeness Faithful to illustrate Every fine line I'm mastering detail Highlighting defects Making a permanent mirror to see All of the faults that lie hidden in me I'm painting my portrait It's plain and uneven Reminding me what I am What I must be I'm leaving out nothing No matter how painful All of my flaws on display to be seen Now my painting is done I'll start another This one of her And when I close my eyes I clearly see her face Capture her grace and poise Fight back the tears and I'm Painting her portrait An absolute likeness The loveliest face The most delicate skin A tribute to beauty The perfect Miss Ingram Omit neither diamond ring Nor golden rose Make her a lady of rank Glistening satin Oh, how she glows Mix in your finest tints Paint her dramatically With all your sweetest hues Sit here fanatically Painting our portraits This one will live All of her life as a governess Just a lonely governess This one will always be happy And marry a man who will carry her away And should you fancy That he really loves you Just compare the pictures Two completely different mixtures You should be ashamed, Jane Why would he trade his silver For some unpolished metal? Why would he settle for a slave When he could have a queen? Jane, it's foreseen, Jane! Don't even dare anymore To compare Say a prayer For your sorry soul Jane!
now this woman is an actress! Wonderful use of her voice and very dramatic for the stage. though, i do think she made Jane a little too violent. might tone that down a bit.
she has a rich voice. i do like a lot of the songs in this musical it's just some of the plots in the musical is so 180 compared to the book. Jane's supposed to be 18 not 30.

Amazing! I love this song! Marla also is a wonderful actress!
i hate it when people rag on this show. it may have its weak points but its still a very faithful, sweet adaption of jane eyre.

I often think Jane doesn't reason how pretty she really is.

What a fool I have been to wonder
If he might have a care for me
How insane the thought that you
Could be to him dear in any way
That a more absurd young girl has lived
I doubt that you could say!
You, a favorite of Mr. Rochester?
Gifted with the power?
Your logic's fading by the hour
And to no avail, Jane!
Poor, blind puppy!
Had to go on dreaming
Had to try to give your life some meaning
Still you fail, Jane!
How dare you think there's a place
In his heart for you?
I'm painting my portrait
An absolute likeness
Faithful to illustrate
Every fine line
I'm mastering detail
Highlighting defects
Making a permanent mirror to see
All of the faults that lie hidden in me
I'm painting my portrait
It's plain and uneven
Reminding me what I am
What I must be
I'm leaving out nothing
No matter how painful
All of my flaws on display to be seen
Now my painting is done
I'll start another
This one of her
And when I close my eyes
I clearly see her face
Capture her grace and poise
Fight back the tears and I'm
Painting her portrait
An absolute likeness
The loveliest face
The most delicate skin
A tribute to beauty
The perfect Miss Ingram
Omit neither diamond ring
Nor golden rose
Make her a lady of rank
Glistening satin
Oh, how she glows
Mix in your finest tints
Paint her dramatically
With all your sweetest hues
Sit here fanatically
Painting our portraits
This one will live
All of her life as a governess
Just a lonely governess
This one will always be happy
And marry a man who will carry her away
And should you fancy
That he really loves you
Just compare the pictures
Two completely different mixtures
You should be ashamed, Jane
Why would he trade his silver
For some unpolished metal?
Why would he settle for a slave
When he could have a queen?
Jane, it's foreseen, Jane!
Don't even dare anymore
To compare
Say a prayer
For your sorry soul
Jane!
anyway u could post "the proposal"? i would absolutely LOVE to see that scene in its entiriety.

Jane was never meek and mild. Jane was fierce, felt deeply, and spoke her mind always. What character traits would show her as gentle and retiring?
That's exactly how Jane was in the books. People have been wanting women with violent emotions to tone themselves down for over 200 years.
Hi, do you still have the full copy of this? I would be so greatful if I could get my hands on it! Thank you so much!

why does carrie the musical get an off-broadway revival and jane eyre doesn't?
What'd he do to her that made audience laugh?
He hit her in the back in a very "friend-zoned" way
Love the song.. can't stand her pitchy voice.
What? Lol She sounds amazing
