I think my favorite thing about her is the pure joy she takes from singing. Wherever you see her perform, the absolute thrill of it is always so evident in her face, in her voice, and that's always enjoyable. :)
We just had her return to our school for master class this week. She's so lovely. She sings everything! Haha. Everyone that graduated with her told us she was a jerk but she's actually really nice.
she's so good! I love her tone and control and I'm SO jealous! She'll make a good Christine. All the others were amazing in their own way, I think Sierra will be good in her own way, too. I'm glad she got the job in the new Phantom.
Sierra has the most stunning soprano voice I have ever heard. I love how she sings not only so effortlessly but so soulfully too. It is just one of the many things that draw me to her. She is my all-time favorite Christine, and watching this has made me miss her more in the role.
Oh my god! Sierra is an amazing singer, and that's just with a simple piano accompaniment on a tiny stage, I can't imagine how much more amazing she will sound in the live production of LND! And I agree, she is gorgeous, and has such a great personality. Love her already!
They simply cannot be compared. When you perform these songs from a Theatre Background, you are performing to that final row in the auditorium. For film, you need to tone it back quite a bit because of the size of the screen. Emmy has a beautiful voice and I'm sure would sound wonderful if done for the stage. Having said that, WAY TO GO SIERRA, LOVE HER!!!
@LittleLotteDaae17 Sierra's vocal coach is Mary Setrakian. She's a renowned vocal tutor in New York who is also a very accomplished singer herself. She's performed beloved operas, in famous concert halls and even on Broadway! She's also worked with Nicole Kidman, Kate Winslet, and Ashley Brown. (Broadway's orginal Mary Poppins. :)
Sierra is obviously a million times better than Emmy. You can't even compare Emmy with the other Christines like Claire Moore, Rebecca Caine, and even the Christines of London who sounds a bit childish but still sound amazing like Leila Benn Harris, Rachel Barrell, Robyn North etc. Sierra's cadenza is just STUNNING!
I was expecting to be moved like I am with all the music I pick to listen to. It is very impressive that she can just open her mouth and sing like that. It's nice to know that someone's passionate about this though. I heard the singing in the movie before anything else so I love it more. I appreciate anyone who can sing songs from The Phantom Of The Opera well. I just wasn't moved like I am every time I watch the movie or when I've seen it onstage.
It has just been confirmed that Sierra will in fact orginate the role of Christine in "Love Never Dies" when it premires in London in spring nexy year. YAY! I'm thrilled! She'll be fantastic. If you thought this performance was mind-blowing, Andrew Lloyd Webber himself was said "She's a wonderful performer and will break your heart in this new production." I can't wait!
SHe's a freak! Normal people just can't sing like this...LIVE...sitting down. Crazy! I peed my pants (just a little) when she hit that note at the end.
Hi ... I agree, I really like both of them. Emmy at age 16 performed for the film - short term; Sierra has performed this hundreds of times and has more experience as Christine on stage.
to shimmerysquirt, yes i am well aware of the different cadenzas. this one that sierra sings emmy rossum also sings in the film, but the other one was originally recorded by sarah brightman which they use in the london and broadway productions. im so glad you people know your music theatre knowledge! :)
Actually, chazaii, although the version of the cadenza that Sarah recorded for the original cast recording is the one still used on Broadway, I believe they use a different cadenza in London now. If you look up some of the London Think of Me versions you'll hear it.
@tempsfuit The guy on the piano is Seth Rudetsky, who hosted this interview called "Seth's Broadway Chatterbox." He's a Broadway personality, he's worked with a ton of Broadway people.
yes, she played her in las vegas. i believe she played her 2 years ago, but i'm not certain. she is actually originating a part in the phatom sequel, which is why she left little mermaid.
@DancingKatie16 I agree! Emmy was 16 when she played Christine, so her vocals weren't as well developed and she, from then on out, was working on her acting career, so some of her training was lost. She still, however, has a beautiful and cannot be "knocked," shall I say, for her talent.
@Lunara13 What's interesting about that is Gerry Butler actually met her at the Love Never Dies opening gala. Rumor has it at the after-party he flirted quite heavily with her. Don't worry Gerry fans, they're not a couple. She's declared herself single for the past two years. Poor girl doesn't have time for a realtionship. It would be incredible to see them work together though. I wonder if Emmy will ever see the orginal show let alone the sequel. But with Sierra as the lead probably not.
Oh she can rock this role :) Sierra just has a beautiful voice, and while nothing could ever beat, for instance, the original Ariel, she managed to perform that part beautifully. Her voice is just perfectly suited a role like this, especially since she has training ^_^ Now if we could just get her and Gerry together....
my favorite christine, though i think everyone ehose ever played her has done the role its justice, is sierra boggess....love her in everything shes done!
Really? I had no idea. I obviously didn't watch the special features or her interviews where she says she had never heard the music and got the CD right away. Thanks for that update and happy halloween.
@EriksRose1 Emmy was a memeber of the children's chorus. They are taught the basics of singing, nothing more! If children ever tried to sing opera they'd permenantley damage their vocal chords. She left when she was 12. Opera is arguably the most difficult form of music to sing. You have to have an exrodinary range & ability to sustain it. Most professional opera singers don't even start a career til their mid-thirties. To be declared an opera singer you have to perform an aria live.
@Seschal1 I disagree! I think she has a shimmery sound in her upper register. Her voice has an assurence & grace ideal for this score. She can travel throughout the scale with ease. That and she captures the essance of Christine. Emmy is a mezzo who had to strain consistantly to hit several notes. Sierra doesn't struggle.
@BlueJeanBaby012 I do prefer her yo Emmy but I would point out that Emmy is a trained opera singer. This is more of a musical song than an opera song and Emmy can hit the notes more effortlessly but yeah. Sierra's the best Christine I've ever seen
@SparrowFreak No, she was 16. I remember Andrew Lloyd Webber and Gerard Butler making such a fuss because she was 16. I think she said it in an interview too, but I have to look it up.
@SoulSingerJenna I understand what you mean. I seriously doubt Gaston Leroux would have approved of many of the singers that were chosen in the stage production and film. Just like you said. The character was written as an opera singer whose supposed to be "Beyond Musical Comprehension" just like the Phantom who is also a musical genius. But I think Andrew Lloyd Webber is more to blame for picking singers who are theatre bred & telling them to use that technique.
Maybe my hearing is off but I didn't think this resembled her Ariel voice at all. Yes her vibrato was toned down quite a bit but I thought she nailed this song with ease and stunning high notes. She's a force when it come to being a coloratura. I still can't believe how effortless she makes the candenza. Then there's the fact that she can produce a intense belt. She has one of the most beautiful and colorful voices in her age-bracket. If she does become Christine in the sequel I'll be overjoyed!
@randomania31 he was married to her at that point, and he wrote the role for her. he most likely wouldn't have written it if he had not been with her becasue she was like his insperation or something.. haha
I believe that Sierra's voice sounds so effortless on those high notes. Many people are saying that she is way better than Emmy. This is true, but we need to keep in mind that Emmy was very young when she played the part. Her voice was still growing, and if she played the part again while in her twenties, I'm sure her voice would be much more suited for those high notes. I believe that Emmy did a great job regardless.
@meginmd The character of christine would have always been a soprano, her character from the book is a soprano plus there were no leading singers in an opera lower than a soprano generally. But i do wonder who would have played christine had he not been dating brightman?? :p
You guys say that she was in the chorus, yet, she has said (as well as her teachers there) that she played Children's parts at the Metropolitan Opera- NOT being just a choir member. I'm not saying that that gave her the sudden ability to sing operatically, it's just that your facts aren't correct.
I never get tired of listening to sierra sing
Such a beautiful voice on such a beautiful person
I think my favorite thing about her is the pure joy she takes from singing. Wherever you see her perform, the absolute thrill of it is always so evident in her face, in her voice, and that's always enjoyable. :)
flawless!
She's like a silver flute that flutters with vibrato and emotion. I LOVE her.
We just had her return to our school for master class this week. She's so lovely. She sings everything! Haha. Everyone that graduated with her told us she was a jerk but she's actually really nice.
I was lucky enough to see Sierra live. I am BLESSED.
she's so good! I love her tone and control and I'm SO jealous!
She'll make a good Christine. All the others were amazing in their own way, I think Sierra will be good in her own way, too. I'm glad she got the job in the new Phantom.
THIS IS MY FAVORITE RENDITION EVER!!!!! Not too overdone, not too presentational, and gorgeous voice!!!!
Im literally in love with Sierra Boggess, totoally in love with her, everything about her is just beautiful
I love her! She's so gorgeous, and sings so well.
Sierra has the most stunning soprano voice I have ever heard. I love how she sings not only so effortlessly but so soulfully too. It is just one of the many things that draw me to her. She is my all-time favorite Christine, and watching this has made me miss her more in the role.

Sierra was amazing to see live at her Vegas shows a few years back. Definitely my favorite Christine of all-time. =)
I love her so much, her voice is just perfect...
She sounds so amazing!!
So... so... MUCH beauty!

She leaves me breathless.
i love how effortless it seems, she's amazing.

This is a promise to myself: Before I die I WILL hear Sierra sing live.
She is absolutely flawless. Definitely my favourite Broadway/West End star! x
She is gorgeous, and has a freaking beautiful voice dude!!!!!!!!!!!
I was expecting to be moved like I am with all the music I pick to listen to. It is very impressive that she can just open her mouth and sing like that. Soooo good! I love her! She was so sweet when I met her a few weeks ago!
She's perfect :')
my god she has an amazing voice. I wish I had half her talent
Bellissima! Devi venire ad Australia !
A great voice, great performer, believable, bonus points for being drop dead gorgeous!
Those two are IT right now in musical theatre.
Sierra is incredible! I saw her in Love Never Dies. She's the perfect Christine!
Absolutely bloody brilliant!!!
Seeing Sierra in 15 days - her last show in LND!!! Hoping to meet her at Stage Door :)
Hi ... I agree, I really like both of them. Emmy at age 16 performed for the film - short term; Sierra has performed this hundreds of times and has more experience as Christine on stage.
gah! i luv her SO muchhh!!! shes AWESOME!!!
to shimmerysquirt, yes i am well aware of the different cadenzas. this one that sierra sings emmy rossum also sings in the film, but the other one was originally recorded by sarah brightman which they use in the london and broadway productions.

best vocalist ever, I love her voice so much!
Emmy and Sierra do different cadenzas so they cant be compared. they are both beautiful singers.

Wow!!!! She is the best Christine. I wish I had seen her.
OMG! xD She sings amazing! obviously better than Emmy! Sierra is one my favorites! Sierra Rules!
God I just love her voice so much!
the best i have ever heard this song, amazing!
@tempsfuit The guy on the piano is Seth Rudetsky, who hosted this interview called "Seth's Broadway Chatterbox." He's a Broadway personality, he's worked with a ton of Broadway people.
Awesome! She IS Christine! I liked this one almost as much as I liked Emmy Rossum's version in the movie. Fantastic!
You're not the only one wishing that. I'm stuck a mezzo soprano, except I'm stuck on 2nd soprano. Gr.
Gorgeous voice!
Wow Wow Wow, she's really great!!! I love her voice...and Ariel i such a nice character for her
omg what a beautiful voice!
How does one sing like that... LIVE... SITTING DOWN!?
yes, she played her in las vegas. i believe she played her 2 years ago, but i'm not certain. she is actually originating a part in the phatom sequel, which is why she left little mermaid.

@BubblegumPopMusic13 I could never agree with you MORE! Hearing Sierra live during Love NEver Dies is the best sound you will ever hear!
@Lunara13 What's interesting about that is Gerry Butler actually met her at the Love Never Dies opening gala. Rumor has it at the after-party he flirted quite heavily with her. she is amazing!
@SparrowFreak she was 18 when the film was finnished and they did interviews for the film
Cannot wait to hear her nxt weekend :)
lovely voice
she's amazing!
She's AWESOME!!!!!
@meginmd
i agree but who knows if there ´d be any Christine. She inspired him for the whole thing, and he wrote the role for her voice.
my favorite christine, though i think everyone ehose ever played her has done the role its justice, is sierra boggess....love her in everything shes done!
Really? I had no idea. I obviously didn't watch the special features or her interviews where she says she had never heard the music and got the CD right away. Thanks for that update and happy halloween.
@SuperTclem I was speechless!!! My mom had never heard her or Hadley Fraiser...she was shocked!!
@Broadwayzoso Emmy was a child. She was 15 when that movie was shot!
Yes! They are such a dream team!
Sierra is our Angel of Music
you are amazing! ur voice is so perfect!
@Silver54ful
Yeh totally get the Lubica Varigcova thing! She has the Emmy look and had a super voice even if she was way back lolz
I still don't understand why Sierra is the only Christine who sings "when the world was green"
they changed the lyrics for the Las Vegas POTO show, the one where Sierra was the leading lady
Oh, I didn't know it was that long ago.
Thanks:)
This is doing nothing for my nerves...
I love having the same name as an awesome singer. I wish I could sing like this. Sierra's voice is so amazing...O.O
INCREDIBLE!
I love Sierra!!!!
i love sierra :) she is flawless.

I totally agree! Had Webber not been dating Sarah (or was he married to her at that time?), who knows what Christine would have sounded like.
who is the guy on the piano?
Sierra's voice is so delightful it's unbelievable!! I want to see her live so bad!!
Very good point. I see where you are coming from too. I just wish Sierra would hold the early notes a little longer in this video. :p
wow she looks so happy singing, as it should be. :)
Maybe my hearing is off but I didn't think this resembled her Ariel voice at all. Yes her vibrato was toned down quite a bit but I thought she nailed this song with ease and stunning high notes. @Silver54ful hmm I did not know that. That makes sense. I'll have to check out Lubica Varicova too. :D
Sierra Boggess Voice is like an angel
