    That was a great video on your new Hilti Tool. It had everything ,a good back story concerning your dad ,a detailed assesment of the tool upon receipt, a clear demonstration of how to use the tool in your work and an analysis of the cost of the tool to your business and the benefits of leasing etc.
    Firstly I am glad the universe has come full circle in rewarding you this way. I know your Dad must have loved these tools and their ability they enable him in his work. Robbery of the tools of ones Trade is a hugh violation any time it happens.
    Your testimonial is both thorough and accurate. I am sure your Dad is very proud of you and the man you have become. You are generous with your knowledge and professional in your shared trade.You have taken that work ethic you absorbed by osmosis and use it in everything you engage with Well done.
    I am sure you have good security on your vehicles now and always. What you have done For Hilti is worth a lot.Even though their Tool range is world class and top class there is nothing like a recommendation like the one you have just given to further promote their range of products and services.
    Keep up the good work and content. Looking forward to Cory's Class this week and further exploits with stroking MR.Bumble and the miniuta on Advice and Consent Laws on touching Bees in Nature. Anyone for a cup of Tea.!!

    Yes you're absolutely right. I bought one when they first came out about 20 years ago. Better than brilliant. Its never let me down. It's made me an absolute fortune and made my life very easy. As for my drills. They are the first thing out of the van In the morning, and the .last thing to go in the van at night. I've had my drill for over 25 years and it's still as good as when I bought it in the early 1990s.it works out as Hilti being the cheapest tools on the market. Well Recommend!

    Personally I like the Bosch one, I have had mine since about 2000, and I have hammered it, with the cheapest discs I could get my hands on, and it's not missed a beat. The hilti will do the job, but I couldn't justify the cost.

    • @Enonymouse_
      @Enonymouse_ ปีที่แล้ว

      The Metabo setup seems pretty nice, MFE40 with the vacuum. The MFE40 is supposed to have up to 3 blades so you don't have to chisel out and vacuum up the channel you cut with 1 or 2 blades. I don't know if the Hilti will do this also.

    We have a 36v Hilti SDS in work, and the forward-reverse switch broke so we sent it for repair instead of just repairing the little switch they replaced the whole internals of the drill it was like a brand new drill in an old body (which they cleaned up) that is some service.

    I challenge you to a race. My Metabo MFE40 (with automatic dust extraction and filter shaker) vs your Hilti. A vertical chase of around 2m and installing a 35mm metal box. Chase and box marked up, time begins when chaser starts up. What do you say? Still feeling confident?

    I buy tools for company use, it’s a few years since I’ve been on the tools myself. I always inspect every tool that we buy, not least to ensure that serial numbers are recorded and warranties registered. Hilti tools are very very good, and I can tell you that as buyer of many tools and consumables we never pay anything like retail price. However the real value in good quality tools is in time saved and reliability.. if a tool is out of order and in for repair, even if covered by warranty, then it’s a massive financial hit because that tool is needed to complete a job. Also any tool that saves 10 or 20% of the time it takes to do a job equates right back to bottom line. We find hilti to be very reliable but it takes ages to get them fixed.. mind you they are better than DeWalt whose tools seem to fail all the time and then take ages to get repaired due to unavailability of parts. I see tools as more an investment than a expense but you absolutely must factor in reliability and turnaround time for repair. I should add one more thing, if you buy your own tools you probably take better care of them than employees who just use them. Using a tool as it was designed and not allowing it to overheat will extend life dramatically.

    I invested in one of these for a re wire and I have to say it’s miles better than anything else I’ve used, I purchased the Hilti VC 20 M dust extractor and there’s no competition imo.
    The chaser is fairly heavy compared to the angle grinder type one I had before but once it’s on the wall it’s effortless, brick, concrete, blocks, plaster, board, lime, eats it all for breakfast! Not cheap but worth the money

    I am not sure about the 40% faster. I am a big Hilti fan and have some Hilti tools, but I ended up buying the Metabo wall chaser and class M dust extractor over the Hilti because it has a triple staggered blade system which cleans the whole chase out meaning that you don’t need to chisel out anything, which cannot be 40% slower in my opinion, especially in harder materials

    Looks massive and I'm not convinced it'll be 40% quicker overall than the Metabo wall chaser with the three disc accessory as you have to spend extra time SDS'ing the centre of the chase out.
    I'm sure the build quality is excellent, but at £990 it bloody well should. I'll stick with my Metabo👍🏻

    • @mathman0101
      @mathman0101 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The metabo is great - though you can add extra discs with spacers to remove the material with the Hilti I believe. If your banging out so many rewires and chases the Hilti will be a lot quicker say it’s even 20percent quicker if it take you a 6-8 hours for whole house chase that’s around 1-1hr 30 minutes faster. Not to be sneezed at.

  • @jingyjinx8188
    @jingyjinx8188 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Nice Hilti bigup Vdo. Ive heard all the ancient stories that Hilti tools are the best. But you never mentioned any downsides and to me there is always 1 or in this wall chasers case I honestly noticed 3. Firstly the size, its not only built like a tank it looked the same size as Panzer too. Then the price, £1600 just for the chaser alone. The No.1 wall Chaser out there for Sparks is the Metabo and you can buy it with a vacuum and a couple of bags for around £850 and I understand the old adage you get what you pay for but I've had my Metabo wall chaser Mark 1 for well over 10yrs. Thirdly Hilti Wall chaser was 110V. I don't know about you, but at my age I don't want to be lugging no big dirty tranny around. That' won't make me 40% faster. Maybe if it was cordless like Dewalts 54V Battery Wall Chaser it might. So when people say Hilti tools are the best it makes me skeptical. Like when I hear the argument Pele was the best footballer when you see old black and white clips! But I don't know about you I prefer watching Messi in 4K colour HD.

    • @darknessdestroyer5524
      @darknessdestroyer5524 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's not a requirement, it's strongly advised by the HSE and most insurance companies and site managers insist on it, you can use 240V with a 30ma RCD but that still has potential for danger so centre tapped 110V (55 volts to earth) is used as it is the safest way to provide power on-site, there's never been a fatality using 110V (reduced low voltage) 👍.

    If doing horizontal chases, you should really be using galv conduit.
    Most other trades & especially DIYers don’t account for horizontal chases

    • @craigemmott4976
      @craigemmott4976 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Curious to know your reasoning for galv conduit?

    • @jonathanrose456
      @jonathanrose456 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@craigemmott4976
      Scenario 1.
      Mr/Mrs DIY comes along & decides to build a corner cabinet for his/her TV.
      Assumes cables are vertical in the wall & drills a hole straight through the capping & into the cable.
      Scenario 2.
      Plumber, on a grant job, fitting surface trunking for a radiator, assumes cable is vertical in wall & drills through cable.
      Scenario 3.
      Cable overheats/becomes damaged in the wall & needs replacing for whatever reason.
      You’ll not be able to fish or draw a new cable through a 90* corner in oval or capping, so will need to dig the wall out again.
      With PVC round conduit, you’ll be able to pull one through, but it only takes another couple of minutes to put a piece of galvanised conduit in & make it extremely difficult for them to drill into the wire.
      I use galv for all my cable in the wall (including in studs). Just provides that extra level of protection.
      Don’t use cement to seal it in walls btw., as it can cause rusting that leaks to the wall surface. I use plaster bonding coat with a waterproofer.
      25mm2 galv conduit can hold 2x 4mm2 6242y. Bend to required (if necessary). Thread & add couplers & nuts.
      On rewires or new builds, it usually takes a morning to do it for an entire house, so you’d lose perhaps an hour compared to using capping, but get a better job.

    • @jonathanrose456
      @jonathanrose456 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@artisanelectrics
      Depends on the surface.
      On your install in the vid, I’d have used 20mm conduit terminated in the back boxes. It may have needed a screw to secure the corner, but mainly, you rely on the connection between the 2 back boxes & fill with bonding coat.
      Coming vertical down a wall, the bottom is fixed in the back box with the top entering the ceiling.
      If it’s a bit slack, I’ll stick a screw in either side at the top to secure.
      Only has to be secure long enough for the plaster to dry.

    • @artisanelectrics
