A walkthrough of basic flight planning with LittleNavMap

  • Several people have asked me to do some videos on LittleNavMap, because it can seem quite intimidating to new users. It's a very powerful flight planning tool. In this video I have a look around the program, plan a simple flight, and then import the resulting flight plan into X-Plane.
    If you would like to take part in a community of Flight Simulation enthusiasts, you might like to visit the "Virtual Flight" discord server - just visit virtualflight.online and you'll be redirected to the server automatically.

      Just for information..
      MSFS working with MsFs v. 2004 with little navmep separately.
      Personally I do have to open two windows 1 is LNM (little navmap) n the other 2nd window is the sonukatoe. What I do is , manually enter the flight plan into simulator and little nav map. And visually follow the nav map flight route.

      You can drag any element of the screen around - the best bet is to switch off the various windows (via the windows menu) and then build up the diplay bit by bit to understand how the docking and snapping works.

    Excellent and very useful video, thanks. I've followed your instructions to setup Little NavMap, and I've loaded the route into the FMC on the Zibo 737, but the route in the sim does not match the route in LittleNavMap. Specifically, there is a fix D102G in the SID, which is not in the SID in your video, and which is in a completely different place in the sim. I've loaded the scenery library and it's AIRAC Cycle 1802. I have 'Do not use Navigraph database' selected in LittleNavMap. What am I doing wrong? (I realise this is an old AIRAC cycle, but surely what I see in LittleNavMap (which says AIRAC 1802 under Scenery Library) should match what I get in the sim?)

    • @jonbeckett
      @jonbeckett  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've seen oddities like that myself from time to time too - usually because the sim database itself has picked the wrong waypoint. It's always worth checking the flight plan before you take off - I'll do a video at some point about how to skip steps in a flight plan in the Zibo - I never remember how to do it myself, so would be a good refresher for me too :)

    • @JohnBolch
      @JohnBolch 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks. I've tried deleting the errant fix in the FMC, and it looks much better, but of course it doesn't follow the route of the SID, which obviously includes a fix at that point.

    -I do have some issues when I try to select the destination airport gates. Depends which simulator and/or aircraft. For most airliners, you'll need to do more than just load the flight plan - such as setting up departure, performance, and approach. In the 737s and 747s you have to do a lot more than the Airbus (but then it gives you something to do too) :)

    Hi Jonathan, thanks for the video. I have a question about the Online airspaces, in my version of LNV they are only circles. I have found in the manual that I need to change some files to make them follow the actual boundaries (as you have them th-cam.com/video/IXfoFwGRduQ/w-d-xo.html . Could you explain how to do that or share the files? Because I find the manual a bit lack luster in explaining how to do it. www.littlenavmap.org/manuals/littlenavmap/release/2.4/en/SCENERY.html#load-scenery-library-online-airspaces
    Thank you!

    Hi, if you send me the audio of this video I can remove the noise and you can upload it again.

      I'll do a new version of it one day - there have been new versions of LittleNavMap since this was recorded - it's changed quite a bit.

    Can you put a German version on the web? There is obviously no one for this effort.

      You do realise TH-cam can do subtitles in any language ? :)
