As far as I'm concerned, you're up there with Watch Wes Work, Western Truck and Tractor repair, Diesel Creek and South Main Auto. You not only turn wrenches, you're a bonafide diagnostic expert only old school without needing a bunch of electronic gadgets. Respect your abilities.
Wes and SMA would be really insulted that you compare this moron to them. DC is in his category but don't insult real technicians by comparing him to them.
Yellow jackets. A flying welcome committee. They welcome people to leave them be. Brake cleaner is very effective. They go to sleep very fast, and don't wake up.
In a previous career, I lived by the adage: "Never assume the person before you knew what they were doing." It saved me a lot of time and tribulation. It also scared me since I worked with Life Safety Systems. Great content as always and as always, looking forward to the next.
You're definitely an upstanding dude. Fixin' 'em up, selling a solid machine, and giving the new owners years of service! These can save a lot of work moving supplies up to a new home under construction.
Farmall MD. Have one in the barn. Love asking buddies what fuel it takes. The see the pump and injectors and say diesel. Then they see the carb and plugs on the other side and get very confused.
Good stuff man , common sense will take you a lot further than book sense in working out mechanical problems . You have a good head on your shoulders and a great attitude . All that and not one curse word . God bless .
Good to see you bring back to life some more discarded iron. Great 2 part series. I hope you will in the future let us know the outcome of a sale for the two Chevies.
Excellent trouble-shooting in regards to the oil mixed in with the coolant... Fantastic job on the paintwork... You did extremely well on the purchase of the three trucks... WELL DONE!!! 10/10
Most fuel hose is also not submersible rated. The interior is made for fuel but not the exterior as most hose is double wall. I’ve worked on stuff like yourself for years and I think we’re about the same age, but this was a new one to me. A little googling and sure enough there is a specific spec for submersion rated hose. Very hard to find in anything over 3/8 inch. Doesn’t sound like it was in enough fuel to cause your issue but I did want to throw it out there. Love your channel btw, would love to meet you someday!
Your right. And the "rubber" ones that are ethanol "rated" are usually only up to 10% ethanol and only last about 10 years in such conditions. In my research the only ones 100% ethanol compatible are PTFE but those wont really bite onto barbed fittings with standard hose clamps.
Submersible comes into play because even if the inner core is ethanol friendly typically the lower spec hoses have an outer jacket that is rubber which degrades quickly in ethanol.
@@loufaiella3354 Yeah, the prices for submersible fuel line are utterly outrageous for what it is. Sadly there’s not much in the way of alternatives, regular line *will* turn into a floppy, mushy mess if it’s submerged for any length of time. Luckily most vehicles only have a few inches of line in the tank at most, so you usually don’t need to buy much of it.
I have been waiting for more videos from Salvage Workshop, I was afraid you had stopped doing them. I appreciate attention to detail, sometimes almost to the extreme, so I enjoyed watching you take something that was an absolute mess and not only made it work, but made it look good too. When you first started working on those trucks that were filthy inside, I was cringing at the thought. You didn't disappoint me, you cleaned them up before you did very much work on them. I never liked working on something that was filthy dirty, great job. Don't keep us waiting so long for the next video please.
i grew up in the hard coal region of Pennsylvania. The coal delivery companies used to use a lot of scissor trucks when they delivered coal. Since the coal bins in the homes were often located in places requiring a lift for the coal and a coal chute which was put into the homes coal bin window. Also the coal was oiled to prevent coal dust from permeating the home. Good job on your endeavors.
When I seen this video I thought that a combination scissor/dump truck is cool and something ive never seen/heard of. Then when I seen your comment I felt like a dumbass. I'm from Scuylkill County and see trucks like this daily in the winter delivering coal.
You've done a fine job, I'm sure they'll sell pretty quick. I'd bet that cut wire to the crank sensor is what gave the other shop so much headache, you did good chasing that bad wire down. Cheers from Jacksonville Florida 🌞
Howdy from Sacramento! You're a good guy, conscientious and honest. I like how you take pride in all you do and never look to get over on folks. Cool trucks BTW! Thanks for sharing.
Regarding the “new, out of the box” parts… I had a new 2018 Sierra that was still under warranty, but was set to have its 4th fuel pump installed! Even though it was covered with the warranty, it was was always inconvenient. Even the service technician said the parts didn’t always work right out of box. I don’t have that truck anymore. Great video!
index cards for the tires and aluminum foil to wrap lines and hoses really helps instead of time it takes to tape, isnt it amazing how we all like to buy something that looks new even if I isn't Absolutely love your channel
Index cards, huh.... I like that, I'm gonna have to give it a try on the IH when I get around to painting it!... I've used foil before, but never had a good experience, maybe i'll give that another shot again! Thanks for the suggestions!
I'll be honest, I wasn't super excited when I saw you post these videos (I was hoping for another CAT vid). But your engaging story telling and your methodical troubleshooting really drew me in. Congrats on the great videos! Your tenacity appears to have paid off in dividends.
Glad the calculated risk paid off. The two flip trucks look good and will live to benefit others. Bonus you now probably have the truck you wanted effectively for free. Win win.
I’ve watched you do the impossible on several occasions and I’ve watched you do regular work but to a higher degree of craftsmanship. My first video from you showed me what kind of work you did, absolutely perfection. I hope you make a killing on these trucks, you deserve it. On the first video when you were showing us the three trucks I thought the 2 Chevys did not have a dump bed so it surprised me when I saw that they did. I would buy one if I was 30 years younger. stay safe my friend
Angry indian here once again and just wanted to say hi and see I've been doing diag on all those vehicles!!! Cars, trucks, and light duty pick up trucks!! Ford did that dummy shaft, hooked to a cam sensor Wich sits in the old hole of the distributor!! They also have a spout connector, and when you disconnect it you go back to " base" timing!!! Been doing cars for very long time since I was thirteen and I'm fifty two and have a master mechanic in the automotive industry for years!!!! Still run my own shop and could've told you about all of it!!! It's a fun industry if you are willing to learn, and you can say " I did it myself" 😜😜😜😜😜😜😜🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘god bless brotha flip em both!!!!! Mr. B
I love when someone thinks they know what they are talking about and is very confident.........then someone comes around and proves them wrong in a matter of minutes and makes their jaws drop....
Along with roofing jobs, that would be a great truck for doing siding (gutter) jobs. You could even bring your chop saw and a couple of saw horses up with you along with material. Just as long as you could drive around all sides of the building you're doing the job on. No need for setting up pump or ladder jacks either.
To rejuvenate, clean & protect your plastic, rubber & vinyl dash and interiors- I've used the white GOOP waterless hand cleaner. Smear on, soak 1-2 hours, wipe off with absorbent paper towels. It "floats" grime, dirt, ink, tobacco stains out, it's lanolin protects naturally (sheep wool). 1-2 applications for most jobs. When wiped off properly, there's no oily or shiny residue like other products.
I really enjoy your effort and struggle. Making things run is your power. Keep it going. I am waiting on updates on your other projects like Old Red...
Dang, nice job man. Too bad you can't take our old bucket truck and fix it up like that. We have a ford diesel platform truck that needs some major TLC, but unfortunately there's no one around here that can work on it without spending more than the truck is worth. You definitely did those old girls a solid, I'm sure they'll sell quick.
After seeing you dolly up the trucks I reckon you should explore the financial possibilities in the snake oil business. Given your talent the sky is the limit! Cheers from Oz mate!
Well done, you are getting a nice float of machine for cheap and put hand on the thing without fear, do it yourselve style Awesome!!! Hi from buenos aires city argentina
Great video as always your comments on the new parts reminded me of what my old mechanic used to say ( New means new doesn't mean good ) . He also said i just install them i don't build them ......."words to live by "
international had a diesel, that started on gas, then switched over to diesel when warm, was also easier on the starter, or something like that?.. trucks good good! hope you get good money for them
There were a few like that, they were actually just gas motors that would also run on kerosene for cheaper fuel and better fuel economy, but they could only properly combust the kerosene at full operating temperature, hence starting them on gasoline
International Harvester used to have Diesels with spark plugs. The engines started on gasoline and switched to diesel when they warmed up. I saw one when I was 20 years old, that was 60 years ago.

Well thank you my friend! I only really know enough to be dangerous, but MAN AM I DANGEROUS!! lol!! Thanks for watching, I truly appreciate it!
Agreed to some extent, once you get into sensors and ODB2 some things require an osope to monitor data lines and various signals to properly diagnose.
Wes and SMA would be really insulted that you compare this moron to them.

International made a diesel that started on gasoline and switched to diesel so it had spark plugs.
Ok... i guess there are exceptions, but NOT very often!
Farmall MD. Have one in the barn. Love asking buddies what fuel it takes. The see the pump and injectors and say diesel. Then they see the carb and plugs on the other side and get very confused.
I really like your video's you did an amazing Job on these Trucks way to go my Friend . show more videos God Bless

Diligence and a positive attitude wins over greed and trickery. Thank you.
It really does!

I've never seen a truck with a bed like those. Very interesting, thank you for sharing!
