  • Short video showing how I recently changed the oil filter, air filter, oil sump plug and oil in my Volkswagen Up! It's a 2014 1.0l petrol model and was showing the INSP warning on dashboard meaning it needed a service.
In the video I show how I do it, not necessarily the correct way, as well as how to reset the INSP warning on the dashboard.
I used 5W40 Synthetic Oil (about £40), an Oil filter that cost less than a tenner, an air filter that was around £12 and a sump plug and seal for less than £10 as well.
Note that I am not a qualified mechanic, I work in IT for gods sake. As such the method of this work may not be 100% correct.
Any repeat of this work may invalidate your warranty and service history but I'm beyond that so what the hell.
If you have any doubts at all about anything in this process, please take it to a garage for a qualified mechanic to help you with.
I bought the parts from GSF Motor spares by typing in the number plate and getting the appropriate parts for the job.

hi.TELL ME WHAT KIND OF COMBINATION DID YOU DO WITH THE IGNITION KEY IN THE LAST MINUTES?DUMPED SOME DATA? PLEASE DESCRIBE WHAT YOU DID, HOW IT IS DONE AND WHY IT IS DONE?I ALSO HAVE SUCH A CAR, IT IS VERY POSITIVE!

Turn the key off, then hold button in on the dash counter, then turn on ignition. Wait for a few seconds, let go of the dash button and press again. The video shows it clearly enough, but I don't press any buttons on the key. Only turning it in the ignition to off then on etc... Hope it helps.

@@bobgriffiths Understood. And what exactly is this manipulation being done for?

Nope, on my car it was a 19mm socket. Good luck and have fun.

If the title is "Oil, Oil Filter and Air Filter Change" why would anyone ever in fact remove the oil filter first then release the oil sump nut? (the way you did it) Isn't it the other way round, oil removal then the filter?

Hi, thanks for leaving a comment on my video. The oil and filter both got changed so I figure it doesn't really matter which way around it's done. Cheers.
