- I cant believe I did this! I called old vintage phone numbers from advertisements found in 1950s magazines which was SO awkward and cringy! I also shared what the advertisements looked like back in the day. I hope you enjoy this video and leave below any suggestions for the future!

it’s scary to think how some of these businesses were probably alive and thriving at the time, but now they’re all abandoned and forgotten :/ just makes you think how the same will probably happen with the businesses we love, support and got our happiness from after we die :(

Interestingly, the National Radio Institute lasted until 2002, so it wouldn't have been completely impossible for the lady who answered the phone to have heard of it.

This reminds me of something strange that happened to my father and me when I was a kid. Someone called him and he was like:
"Hey, I just saw and advertisement about a house that you have on sale. The address is (...), Is that right?"
And my father was sooo confused and said:
"Well, yes and no. That was my mother's house, but we sold it a long time ago."
The guy asked in how much they have sold the house and then he just said something like:
"Oh, well, thanks for the information."
After that I was also confused, and asked my father when had my grandma's house been on sale, and he just started laughing and said:
"Before you were even born. About fifteen years ago."
Until now, I have no idea how that guy got my father's phone number, as it clearly wasn't the same he had 15 years before that, I didn't think about that until several years after that.

Could be an old ad but could be an opportunist as well. When the house I was renting was getting renos done some guy came up to my door and asked what the price of the house was. I was so confused. I knew the landlord personally and he said he wasn't selling it and there was no ad. I told the guy it's not for sale. He frowned and snapped "Why are you renovating the house then?" as if that's the only reason to do renos. I snapped back at him and told him best be on his way.

The first lady made me feel magical. There's this young girl calling about an old ad from the 50s, but the way she spoke made it feel like the call went beyond a border of time, through a portal where its actually still the 50s..
Makes me want to write a story about someone being able to call someone from like the 1930s, have a chat with someone in their house, on the Telephone as if it's a normal day in the past.
Imagine in another 70 years the new generation might go back to the magazine's we have now and call us😂😂

I tried ordering from a 1923 Sears Roebuck catalogue in 1979! Lol the lady I spoke with was so nice and helpful I felt a bit guilty. She went out of her way to find what I was looking for

I used to work at a Fredrick's in 2014, just shortly before they decided to close all of the stores and go exclusively online. It was so sad!

That must have been why the building was “abandoned”. It downtown LA, the building Fredericks occupied is 100 years old...they must have been the last tenants and now maybe they will restore the building. That area has been designated a historic arts district!

@@xmisskeya8165 for me it's the issue of sizing/measurements (with clothes shopping) Oftentimes it's always too big or too small, even with the right measurements :/ and then there's the 50/50 chance that the outfit might not look as good on you as you wanted. Shipping returns are also a hassle, so not worth it for me. Idk how everyone else does it to be honest
