    One should keep in mind, that goblin factions can come with soldiers from other races, especially in older worlds, since they nab children from other factions and raise them as their own.

      All factions can have members from other races, it's just way more likely for goblins for that reason.

    Watched this video because my local necromancer tower decided it’s harvesting season just about the time i finished my first armor/weapons production and managed to raise the bridge in time.
    Now i have 10 eager, drunk dwarfs, decked in iron armor and ofc every weapon but hammers and maces, training every month.
    This will be FUN!

    One thing to note is that two sieges can happen at the same time, with expected results. Factions that are at peace will not attack each other. However, factions that are at war with each other will will gladly settle their differences outside (or inside) of your fortress. Simultaneous goblin and elven sieges, for example, can be quite easily resolved by just raising the gates and minding your own business because goblins will generally be hostile towards everybody.

    I just had my first raid alert. Just a single human guy. The description stated "....hunter" maybe a bandit or something. It was in the 2nd year of the fortress with just 17 dwafs. He disappeard almost instantly but that scared me a little bit.
    Thanks for the guide❤

    a lot of zombie enemies are impossible to kill normally, for example, an echidna skeleton seems to only have fur and idk if it has bones, so your dwarves will attack it until they pass out and get their faces slowly chewed off. lost several dwarves to echidna skeletons. I was only able to stop them with cage traps.

      Some animals like Pangolins and Echidnas are currently bugged if undead. They turn invulnerable sometimes when they curl up while undead, which will hopefully get sorted out in the future.

    Tip: don’t dismiss a Parlay right away, even if you have no intention of actually sending out a messenger it can give you valuable time to get your citizens inside and your defenses manned. You can say “no” once every is where you want them to be.

    2:11 This is not always true. In my experience, enemies mostly let my messenger or mayor to go and start attack after maybe a in-game day or so.

      @@Ic0nGaming the only time I have had them attack my mayor, a Hunter wandered too close and caused them to initiate combat with the hunter and mayor. It seems like they are only passive to the mayor, and are still regular invaders to everyone else.

    Larger weapons don't do more damage, and are usually worse than smaller weapons, because penetration is tied to impact area (this is also why warhammers are generally considered better than maces) - the real danger with human enemies are lashers, because the impact area of a whip or scourge is considered the smallest level it can be, making these weapons cut through armor like butter.
    Twohanded Swords Mauls and Flails however are all worse than their onehanded equivalents.
    I am unsure if the same applies to halberds and Pikes though

    • @atmosdwagon4656
      @atmosdwagon4656 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Good information. Though it's rather hilarious that a whip/flail is somehow the most effective against armor when in reality, it's about the worst thing you could ever wield against an armored opponent.
      (or in general as whips are not intended to be lethal weapons by their nature, and flails/nunchaku are the worst weapons ever designed because they pose just as much of a threat to their wielders as they do anyone else)

    • @Ytinasniiable
      @Ytinasniiable ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@atmosdwagon4656 historically accurate flails aren't nearly as dangerous to their user as their fantasy counterpart, much longer handles and shorter chains

    Good video, wish I had known some things sooner. Embarked too close to a necromancer tower and spring of the second year I got attacked by 5 zombies with copper/bronze armor and weaponry who effortlessly slaughter my 3 proficient hammerdwarves in full iron-gear. Savescumming and building some quick walls were the only way to not lose that fort. I think I have to go for traps and such because fighting seems futile.

    • @Ic0nGaming

      Embarking near a Necro Tower surely is one of the hardest possible embarks ^^

      meanwhile, here i am in the 5th year, with my dwarves dying of boredom because i keep a tight 25 peep limit. I suppose it's time to attack the gobs myself. Last time i did this, i made sure to save scum...They still killed all my dogs.

    I wanted to add that necromancers will sometimes bring INTELLIGENT undead, which are MUCH STRONGER than regular undead. SERIOUSLY. THESE GUYS ARE JACKED. THEY WILL FUCK YOU UP, even with low skills, they can take on a whole squad of heavily trained, armored and armed dwarves by themselves. You can usually tell them apart by their name, they usually have a certain title and cyan names(See the wiki for the types of name)

    Another thing you didn't mention regarding undead: piercing weapons are also useless. Undead have no organs to be pierced

    If you use a drawbridge across the only base entrance nothing can break thru a raised drawbridge. And very few can get thru a locked door. If you have a artifact door nothing can break it as well. So sieges should never force combat on you

    i have a siege that is lead by damned(dwarfs, elves,humans) with army of dead. Does this count as necromancer raid or it is other type? because the dont ressurect corpses but they are too powerful in melee( everyone has trait incredibly strong and almost one shot my dwarfs)

      Necro raid, these are all night creatures and I think they should be affiliated to some Necromancing faction of sorts. They don't always bring their Necromancer by the way, only sometimes.

    • @Ic0nGaming

      Pretty okay as long as they can't swim and climb. Sadly a lot of monsters can swim and climb. Recently read that a deep chasm would be better cause it holds off weak climbers and swimmers as well. Gotta admit I have no clue how exactly climbing works in DF - yet ^^
