    Now that is a darkbox. You should think about making these for people. I would LOVE to buy one.

    Very nice work. I'm considering making one myself, maybe one a bit less complicated as I don't have the means to make anything as nice as yours hah. Cheers!

    Hows it working for you ? What is good , what is bad , what would you change , what would you add ? Thanks , great construction !

    Heck of a build. I know it’s heavy. Mine don’t have half of that inside and weighs a ton. What material are you using for the curtain?

    Wonderful project. It was better red for the inner varnish. I built one and I varnished in black like you... It doesn't help me and it absorbs too much the red lights. The next I'll build white or red, so It will reflects the red lights.

    Buddy, you have some mad skills. I got tired just watching you. I wished I possessed those talents. I just use a 90x90x64cm pot propagation tent for a tabletop darkbox.

      John W. Browning any chance you could show the tent off? And do you take it down a set it up a lot? If so, is it a pain to do?

    Thanks for sharing this. Does the curtain go all the way down to the floor? I was wondering how you'd keep it light tight on uneven surface or if the was a wind.

      Roger Hyam yes the curtain was made to reach the ground when the box was in the back of my car which has a hatch back door. Yes the wind can be a problem. The curtain can be pulled around my waist and pinned in front between me and the car.

    I am making my own darkroom box and was wondering where did you get the dark cloth that you drape ?

      It’s called abs or something like that. I got it a a big fabric store. Anna’s I believe. I don’t really like it because it’s a bit heavy. I need to find a better replacement.

    Brian, great work. What did you use for your dividers? I am using wood, but it is too rough. Thanks.

    • @bkwatkinscom
      @bkwatkinscom  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I used painted sanded wood.

    So, how much does this kit weigh once you have all your stuff in it?

    • @bkwatkinscom
      @bkwatkinscom  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't really know, I never weighed it. It does take two to lift it into the car.

      brian watkins Thanks. If I make one for myself, it’d have to be light enough for one person to move.

    did you build your stereo camera in the background?

    • @bkwatkinscom
      @bkwatkinscom  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes I did

    • @isaiahtuckern
      @isaiahtuckern 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Awesome! I am working on my first tailboard camera now. Once I get that correct, I would like to work on making a stereo camera and begin making my on stereo cards from glass negatives.
      Do you recommend wet plate, or dry plate for stereo negatives? I am new to wet collodion, and have made mostly positive ambrotype images so far. I understand that wet plate negatives can be some-what more challenging. I have been researching the gelatin dry plate emuslion process, and would eventually like to do some of everything. Of course a little at a time, as I am going to take baby steps and try to get things right along the way.
      Thank you for sharing your video. I really appreciate seeing your projects and find it inspiring to see your hard work and success.

      Very cool that you are making your camera. It is a very rewarding thing to do.
      I can't recommend one process over another as I have only shot positive wetplate ambrotypes. I like it enough and haven't had the desire to try anything else yet. I do want to extend into making negs though. Good luck with your project. Let me know how it progresses from time to time.
