I remember watching the “Christmas Show” as a kid. I’m 34 and I’ve always searched and searched for this episode. Just for nostalgia. I’m currently on an I Love Lucy kick because life ain’t so great and I need a distraction. Lucy is good for lifting spirits, even if only for a moment. ❤️
Kendra, I totally am the same way right now! But I want to share with you that there is hope in Jesus. He loves you and wants a relationship with you. He sees you and what you’re walking through in this moment and has compassion. Isaiah 41:13 “For I, the Lord Thy God, will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee.” This promise has been bringing me comfort lately.
The "Christmas Show" brings out the kid in me(even though I'm 62!). It's a feeling I'll never forget or let go! Merry Christmas, remember you better be good for goodness sake!!!
I love the CHRISTMAS SHOW. The decorations in the apartment take me back to my own childhood and to this day I love vintage Christmas collectibles. The Ricardos had a lot of them, only of course they weren’t vintage then. This is such a heartwarming show.
I had never seen this episode of the “Christmas Show”,, I would love to see it in it’s entirety. I Love Lucy is an absolute classic sitcom, nothing comes close to it. Thank you for this information.
I agree Mary! I absolutely LOVE LUCY and Desi show I love Lucy. I was wondering why they never had a Xmas show on air. I watch this show to this day! Best comedy show ever! I always laugh
Love the CHRISTMAS SHOW, can't imagine why Lucy felt it was off, maybe because it wasn't in front of a live audience. Always wondered why this episode was often unincluded... thanks for solving the mystery for me, Rick!
It is definitely because it was not in front of a live audience. She probably thought it felt flat, not knowing if the jokes were hitting or not. It probably felt incomplete as an actor since it was short, since parts of it were previously recorded for other shows. It just felt off to her.
I loved watching the Christmas Show or any other Christmas Show just bring back when I was a Little Kid I'm 59 years old and it does bring out that Little kid I was. Merry Christmas 🤶 🎄 ❤️
I grew up watching I love Lucy in the 90s and I’m currently rewatching I love Lucy because it’s honestly a comfort to watch. Watching your video with the provided clips of the Christmas episode, it does feel like I’ve seen it before but not as much as the reruns and now I know why! Great video, thank you for what you do (: I like the Christmas show!!!
I thought I had seen all the "I Love Lucy" episodes, but I am not sure if I have ever seen the Christmas Show. I sure would like to. Thank you for creating this beautiful color video to let us know more about this episode! Love your videos, Rick!
Me either. I used to watch reruns with my grandmother during summer vacation. She'd let me stay up late and make me a glass of chocolate milk and we'd watch it for 3 hours. My grandmother is still alive but I now love 1500 miles from her. I Love Lucy has a special place in my heart.
I loved this Christmas Show. I really wouldn't have known that it wasn't filmed live. Keep up the awesome work. I love all yours videos!!!!! Merry Christmas!
I have seen this " Christmas show" and I enjoyed it as a child and with my family. I have seen it several times since then and have introduced " I Love Lucy to my children!! I have a Christmas ornament with Lucy dressed as Santa . Happy Holidays to everyone and thank you, to Rick for all the work and effort done to bring us this creative content.
I love this “CHRISTMAS SHOW” episode! I remember in the 90’s when it was shown on TV. I’ve been an I Love Lucy fan since I was a little girl 🥰 - watching them in syndication and even faking sick so I could stay home from school to watch it! My license plate is DESILU ❤️. Merry Christmas everyone!
The "Christmas Show" is a delight. It's a shame it hasn't been aired that often. Love the fact it's in color. Great job Rick ! "Merry Christmas" to you and yours !"❤🎄❤🎄❤🎄❤🎄❤🎄❤🎄❤🎄❤
I always have issues with the character of Luxy because she would’ve driven me nuts to be married to her. however for some reason the episodes when in color are funnier. My girlfriend is actually like Lucy she never gets some things right, she’s death on computers and I have to go and fix them all the time and like yesterday she shows up and asks “ where do you keep the Diamond and Pearl Pokémon book ? “ I put them in boxes and put them in storage. “ oh you’re not supposed to do that you’re supposed to KNOW that I needed the book. “ I’m supposed to know ? I am not the psychic boyfriend. Aye Caramba ! I love my girlfriend we just celebrated our 44th anniversary together but it’s like living with a clone of Lucy, we cannot live in the same house together we drive each other crazy. We’ve lived together six times. maybe we are more like Ethel and Fred in a way, I don’t know and my three cats celebrated their 21st birthday, both days were on Halloween.
I am a total I Love Lucy fan and I don't remember ever seeing this "Christmas Show". I love watching your videos with all of the little interesting facts that you give us. Thanks for all your hard work in bringing them t us. Thanks again and Merry Christmas.
That's interesting this episode is the first ever clip show on TV. Not only did I Love Lucy pioneer the three camera studio audience production but also the retrospective episode which became a staple for every sitcom to follow. I always like how a lot of these sitcoms always revealed Santa to be real just in case some little kids are watching with their folks.
"Christmas Show" was my favorite episode of the entire series....and that's really saying a lot! I wanted that drum set and train set so badly!!!! I think my grandma purposely bought a very similar tree and decorations just so she could have Lucy's tree in her living room! Well done, Rick. Thanks for the memories!
I love The Christmas Show and was so happy they started showing it again on TV, Thank you for explaining why it wasn't part of the 179 episodes in syndication, and for the lovely photos from this heartwarming episode. Happy Holidays, Rick!
Christmas Show - I remember seeing this episode when it aired. It is a delight! I always felt sorry for poor Fred and his failed efforts to fix the tree. Thank you for reminiscing about this episode.
I love this Christmas episode. I’ve seen it many times. Lately they’ve been broadcasting it every year. I love it in color. I don’t enter the giveaways because I’ve already won one. Good luck to everyone! Thanks Rick!
Love The Christmas Show! I Love Lucy is so much a part of my childhood....watching with my grandparents. Always gives me a warm feeling watching the episodes again. Merry Christmas to everyone!
I would love to see this Christmas Show. This is the first time I hear about it. Thank you Rick for these great videos and all the work you put into them. Good luck to everyone. Happy holidays!!
Always loved this Christmas Show episode of I Love Lucy. The look on their faces when the real Santa shows up!! The episode should've stayed, was a special time for the characters and Little Ricky. Great research on this!!
Thanks for this information! I never knew about this Christmas Show. I Love Lucy is one of my favourite shows of all time, I used to watch it with my grandma all the time and I definitely miss doing that. Thanks for the amazing opportunity too btw!
I remember this episode... It was really really funny when the Santa showed up. Christmas Show should be on regular circulation every December along with all the other classic specials and sitcoms.
Rick, Great stuff, as always! I always look forward to the "I Love Lucy Christmas Special" as an annual tradition, not just because of that particular episode, but also because they colorize and televise another episode after the Christmas Show. Truly special! I couldn't find when it would air last year, so I missed it, if it was broadcast at all. This year, it is supposed to air on December 20th. I hope that happens. They would be foolish to not broadcast the hour long Christmas special, because it ALWAYS wins its time period over shows that are 60 to 70 years younger than "I Love Lucy", which is a testament to the title of the show. It also always places in the Top Ten to Twenty shows of the week. Merry Christmas, Rick!
I don't think there's been a newly colorized I Love Lucy episode since 2019 when "Paris At Last" was aired. I also thought a new episode was supposed to be shown this year on December 20th but I've looked at the CBS network guide for the next several days but I couldn't find any colorized episode, unfortunately.
Thanks for giving the date. I usually miss it each year because outside of my local teams football games, I haven't found anything worth watching on CBS in years.
Always loved I love Lucy and seeing this CHRISTMAS SHOW again after all of these years is still magical! Thank you, Rick, really enjoyed seeing this in color!
Does anyone know which episode/ season Ricky and Lucy perform the song, Christmas Waltz? Was it a "Christmas show" or just a performance at Ricky's nightclub?
I would love to see the Christmas Show! I have always loved Lucy...an icon for all generations. Thank you so much for offering this platform as a way for us to still enjoy loving Lucy!
I loved The Christmas Show! I really appreciate your "I Love Lucy" Shows and finding out so much about the back stories! All the best to you, Rick Nineg...
Thank u for showing the clips to this Christmas special. I always look for and hope tv will air this show at Christmas time !! I so enjoy watching any and all of the I Love Lucy shows !!
I really like your opening Christmas scene!!! It must have taken a lot of work to get it just right, but it was all worth it! You have great creativity and a good eye for detail! The ILL Christmas episode was great! All of them dressed as Santa was classic! And perfect stage coordination to get the real Santa in without much attention drawn at first! Oddly enough for me, it was the first time I’ve noticed Lucy wearing pants as part of her every day attire. She might have worn them before, but I never really focused on it until I saw this episode. Looking forward to what other videos you’ll have in this series and in such a short amount of time! 😁
Thanks for the video. It was fun to see clips from the Christmas Show again. It was interesting to hear that they pulled it from syndication so that a Christmas show didn’t end up airing in July.
I love the Christmas episode , and I love how it was colorised , I love both versions of I Love Lucy in original b&w and the newer ones in color , it almost reminds me of when back in the mid 60’s the cool transition going from b&w to the newer format of color , it’s like going back into another world on tv .
I haven't seen "The Christmas show" I love watching the flashback episodes of my favorite shows , it's fun to see how the characters change throughout the seasons. Thank you for your fun and interesting videos ,may your uncle get well soon !!! 🎀 Season Greetings 🎀
This Christmas show was great. I know there has been many great long running sitcoms, but I love Lucy and the honeymooners are still my two favorites. Very good job on this Rick, as usual!
Always enjoyed " I Luv Lucy" It's amazing how we're still watching them today. Many family type shows doing a Christmas show episode either became an instant classic or boomed. Jumping the shark.👍
I love the "Christmas Show"! Thank you so much for posting this video. I am out of work right now and haven't had reason to smile in a long time. I appreciate you sharing something that cheered me up a bit. Merry Christmas and God bless!
Rick, I always love your videos, especially the I Love Lucy ones! I have seen the Christmas Show episode and I like it because it shows them living like us, celebrating Christmas as if they are real people as I thought they were in my youth, HAHAHA!
I had seen this episode for the first time just a few years ago. I was surprised that it even existed and had never seen it on regular TV viewings over the decades of watching the series. I enjoyed it back then. I especially enjoyed it in color. I have always wished that the entire series was re-released in color because it adds a kind of three-dimensional look to the show. I hope one day the series will be released in color on Blue Ray for the newer generations to enjoy.
Christmas Show. I missed this. I was in college at that time and no set was available. I figure it is about time that I subscribe. I keep watching your commentaries hit or miss. Now I will really know what I have been missing. Thank you.
Hey Rick, Merry Christmas to and your family! We love the 'I Love Lucy" Christmas Show. It's our favorite classic Christmas show special. Also we love it in the beautifully colorized version. Thanks for another great behind the scenes look at I Love Lucy ❤!
I adore Lucy and I love the Christmas show! I've never seen the entire episode, just clips but I love every episode, in fact I'm watching I Love Lucy right now on the Decades Channel! Merry Christmas and thanks for all you do! ♥️🌲😊
The I Love Lucy Christmas Show is one of my favorite episodes. I can imagine the creepy feeling Lucy had remembering it was probably due to her memories filming it without a live studio audience. It would feel "off" in comparison to the other episodes. I love it though!!
Great video, as always, Rick. You're always well prepared in your presentations. It was a real treat when they first aired the Christmas show. I've been watching "Lucy" for over 50 years. I did not like the first colorized version because they had only colorized the new footage. The flashback scenes were still in black and white. I am glad they finally colorized the whole thing. I am generally a purist when it comes to colorizing film originally shot in black and white, but I do like looking at these shows in a new way. It brings out details that tend to be missed in a monochromatic world. I have been wondering why they don't just colorize all of the episodes and release on Blu-Ray, but I guess that would work out like the "Ultimate Blu-Ray" issues a few years back. I'm sure it's an extremely expensive process and would not reap the benefit of extraordinary sales. Diehard fans would snap it up, but the average person would find it too expensive. I was fascinated watching the ultimate Blu-ray episodes, but soon got tired of the never-ending constant Philip Morris commercials. It was interesting to see how the product was incorporated into the show, but it got old very quickly, and I am a smoker. Oh, and what's wrong with watching a Christmas show in July? Hallmark channel has been doing this for years! Ha Ha 😂😂😂😂But, there used to be a certain way of doing things, but those rules have long been tossed aside.
I loved the I love Lucy Christmas show that's a classic episode to watch around December and Christmas time I don't know why they would remove it or not air it on television love the Christmas episode had no idea why they didn't show it or not air it thanks for explaining the info Rick your always good for info and to learn from on stuff I didn't know about thanks great video buddy 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
This Christmas show is a great episode and the way it was shot was probably a good way for the cast to finish early and take a break for the holidays, just my guess .
I saw this Christmas show years ago when CBS found it and aired it. I have to agree that it is a bit creepy but I love it anyway! Little Ricky is so cute!
Watching this Feb '22, so I've missed the contest. Wow, I never saw this episode. I'm 68 and I think I've seen every episode ever broadcast. I wish there was a place to get the Christmas episode. Thanks for sharing!
Hey Rick, I always enjoy watching The Christmas Show, I'm glad that CBS started airing it for Christmas, it gets pretty good ratings too, especially for a 70 year old sitcom!!! (Of course I Love Lucy is no ordinary sitcom)!!! 🎄🤶⛄
Dear Rick, Thank you so much for continuing this great channel! I am the grateful survivor of cancer 3x. At my request my friends and family gifted me with all 6 seasons of " I Love Lucy ❤️" I watched it through some rough days...Truly " laughter is good medicine"!!! I have been in remission 11 years 💝. Here in CT they play I Love Lucy an hour a day‼️Thank you again and a big hug 🤗😁
The “Christmas Show” is a delight. Releasing the episodes in both “colorized” and “black & white” is a best of both worlds, win-win deal! The reason people hate “colorized” versions is because they were first exposed to those early color movies in the late 1980s, which were awful. The techniques improved over the years so the recent colorized works do look authentic.
I won't go as far as to say that it looks more authentic, but I will say that the colorizing process has improved greatly from the 1980's. It makes them far more watchable in color. Now if they can re-colorize the first season of Gilligan's Island.
The technical process may be much improved but I still don't like it. These shows (and also movies) should be shown as the original creators intended them to be seen, IMO.
Thank you for doing this video. I love seeing the colorizations! I have seen the CHRISTMAS SHOW -- don't recall exactly when, but probably in the 90s, however, would love to see it again. Happy holidays, Rick!
Hey Rick. I really enjoyed your breakdown of the "I Love Lucy Christmas Show" episode. I've always loved this episode, ever since I first saw it back in the 90's. I wish you were able to have used the actual footage from the kitchen, of their realization that Santa Claus is real. Job well done! Thank you. And to you & yours and all of your followers, Have a Wonderful Christmas and a Joyous, Healthy & Safe New Year in 2022. P.S. This has been the first time I have been able to watch one of your productions so close to the release date.
I love watching the I Love Lucy Christmas Show. It brings me back to being a kid and waiting up for Santa. As always, thank you for the inside look at these shows!
Love the Christmas Show. I too, can sort of relate to what Lucile Ball was saying about this show. It does seem a little different than the others and not because it's a Christmas episode. I think what you referenced is correct. Since it was filmed without an audience the actors were likely not getting the feedback needed to give them that certain energy-. You can see the different energies by comparing it to this episode's "flashbacks" which were filmed before the live audiences.
This is why most of the "Lucy-Desi" hours seem to fail too. Like the cigar scene in the Milton Berle episode. It just goes on too long because the actors are pausing for laughs that we aren't giving them.
Wow, thank you for this. I was a teen in the 90’s and obsessed with I Love Lucy! I did see this episode but I didn’t know that it wasn’t a show in syndication. I always thought I just missed it if they were having a marathon. Again, thank you for sharing!
I love the " Christmas show" and it was great. I have to tell you I will watch the Christmas show even in July. It's a great episode to be watched. Everyone should see it. I remember they were playing it for a few years, but sadly they stoped.
Hi Rick I actually love the Christmas Show and don't find it creepy. Thanks for all the hard work you put into your vids they are always so well researched and enjoyable to watch.
Maybe it seemed creepy because at the time, the looking back aspect of the episode was something new, whereas now, the looking back is all we have. None of the original four are still with us. It was like the writers knew it would someday be like this, so they solidified looking back as a lesson in treasuring memories we have with others while we can. 💟
CHRISTMAS SHOW I really love the color versions as much as black and white! This is one of the very rare series that you can watch over and over again never getting tired of seeing them. Thank you for sharing and Merry Christmas 🎄🎁
Christmas show!!! I remember seeing it a long time ago, but you refreshed my memory. I always loved it when Ricky would say to Lucy, "You've got some 'splaining to do." I really loved the show.
I loved the “Christmas Show” in color and It was funny and entertaining. Keep playing all the “I love ❤️ Lucy episodes forever. I never get tired of watching and I am a forever fan and I’ve been watching since a toddler and I’m now a senior citizen. Thank you so much and Happy Holidays.
I appreciate your videos. I saw this for the first time when they showed it as a special on CBS in the 90's. I always thought it had a strange feeling to it and that the jokes fell flat. It makes complete sense knowing that it was a laugh track and not a live studio. It truly goes to show that that they knew what they were doing when they moved to a live studio production early on.
What's funny is I've watched a LOT of episodes from this show, except "The Christmas Show"! I had no idea it even existed!! Gotta find AND watch it!! Thanks for sharing this Rick!!
Christmas Show---- Interesting information, nowadays nothing is thought about this. Show in syndication usually run in order and OI have seen countless episodes of various seasons throughout the year. Thanks for the nugget of trivis
I loved this Christmas Show!! I saw it in black and white. I love seeing it in color. Just a wonderful episode. Fred made it hysterical! I’ll never forget it! Ty Rick 😁
I remember watching the "Christmas Show" for the first time, as a kid..Loved it! 👍🏼I'm so glad you bring all these wonderful n classic shows to the new generation..Merry Christmas to you n your family.. Blessings❄️☃️⛄🎄🎁🎇
Thank you Rick 😻 glad to have happened on to your channel. My sister and I never missed I Love Lucy in summer reruns as kids in the 60's. She always wanted to go to clown school but worked in nursing over 40 yrs. She and her husband play Pancho and Mrs Claus for their schools and their church's homeless outreach. I would love to be able to share The Christmas Show with them 🌲❤🥰😘
Another great video. I always heard it wasn't included in the syndication package because it was just flashbacks of prior episodes. Tons of old sitcoms refrained from playing their Xmas episodes during year, but still played during holidays. But ILL never played their Xmas episodes at all, not even during Xmas.
Hi my name is robert i am 65 i could watch the show over and over and still laugh and enjoy it having it in color brings the show a little more up to date i still love it thankyou again
I have seen the “Christmas Show” numerous times along with all other I Love Lucy shows. Was raised watching it and our family enjoyed it immensely. I did learn from your commentary, Rick, as I have from numerous others. Makes me want to watch even more of them. Keep up the good work!!
I don't believe I ever saw this CHRISTMAS SHOW. And I love it in color. Thanks for posting. It's hard to believe the reason given for not selling it in syndication, because of course we see Christmas shows throughout the year.

I got the episode on the remastered VHS set, nicely packaged.
We I troduced I Love Lucy to our kids. They never giggled so hard.
Are you the one who pretended to be in love with Eric the midget?

Agreed. Nothing else comes close!
Airs on CBS every year with a different, colorized classic episode

No problem! Glad I could highlight it for you.
Christmas show. I’ve only seen parts of it. But enjoy all your videos! Thank you so much. Keep them coming!

I saw the "Christmas Show" a few years back but nice to know some new details. Thank you for the video. I look forward to seeing more.
I loved The Christmas Show! I really appreciate your "I Love Lucy" Shows and finding out so much about the back stories!
All the best to you, Rick Nineg...
Absolutely agree!! Well said ♥️
Thank u for showing the clips to this Christmas special.
I actually watched it before and did not realize it was a lost episode. I thought somehow, I just forgot about it.
Always enjoyed " I Luv Lucy" It's amazing how we're still watching them today. Many family type shows doing a Christmas show episode either became an instant classic or boomed. Jumping the shark.👍
🎄
I love the "Christmas Show"! Thank you so much for posting this video. I am out of work right now and haven't had reason to smile in a long time. I appreciate you sharing something that cheered me up a bit. Merry Christmas and God bless!
Rick, I always love your videos, especially the I Love Lucy ones! I have seen the Christmas Show episode and I like it because it shows them living like us, celebrating Christmas as if they are real people as I thought they were in my youth, HAHAHA!
I have never seen the Christmas Show! I would LOVE to see it!
What a treat this CHRISTMAS SHOW is!! Thank you so much for posting this and taking us back to a wonderful time.
I can't watch I Love Lucy in color. It takes the magic of the time period away for me!
❤😇
Don’t worry, the episode is in Black and white as well
Christmas Show. I missed this. I was in college at that time and no set was available. I figure it is about time that I subscribe. I keep watching your commentaries hit or miss. Now I will really know what I have been missing. Thank you.
Always loved the Christmas Show, I always wished it was included in the repeats. I never get tired of watching Lucy.
Christmas Show. I saw this episode when it was re-broadcast. What a nice treat!
Also -Thanks for the information about this episode. Very interesting.
Hey Rick,
Merry Christmas to and your family!
We love the 'I Love Lucy" Christmas Show. It's our favorite classic Christmas show special. Also we love it in the beautifully colorized version. Thanks for another great behind the scenes look at I Love Lucy ❤!
I have bever seen the "Christmas Show." Thanks for the introduction to it! Your videos are always fun and informative.
I adore Lucy and I love the Christmas show! I've never seen the entire episode, just clips but I love every episode, in fact I'm watching I Love Lucy right now on the Decades Channel! Merry Christmas and thanks for all you do! ♥️🌲😊
Christmas show this is a fun show and I love watching i love Lucy and you are energetic and entertaining and knowledgeable .merry Christmas 🎅.
The I Love Lucy Christmas Show is one of my favorite episodes. I can imagine the creepy feeling Lucy had remembering it was probably due to her memories filming it without a live studio audience. It would feel "off" in comparison to the other episodes. I love it though!!
No, the uncanny valley is what made her feel creepy.
I remember watching this particular rerun many years before and I enjoyed watching it! Thanks for the memories, Rick!
The Christmas Show gave me a strange feeling too...interesting that Lucy felt similarly! Thanks for all of the great history, Rick,!
Thanks a-plenty for your amazing support!
Christmas Show I remember this show in reruns. Thank You for all the information.
This Christmas show is a great episode and the way it was shot was probably a good way for the cast to finish early and take a break for the holidays, just my guess .
Now I am going to have to find this "missing" Christmas Show as I had not knew even existed until this video-Thanks for posting this!
Thank you for sharing your story with us, Diane! Much appreciated ♥️
The early colorized films looked like someone let a kindergartener loose with a box of crayons and a film negative.
The technical process may be much improved but I still don't like it. These shows (and also movies) should be shown as the original creators intended them to be seen, IMO.
@@lynnturman8157 I disagree. Many younger people & kids won't watch B&W movies or TV shows. Colorizing it brings it to a whole new generation. 👍
@@gljm I agree, gljm 1159!
You hit her pretty hard there, Rick!
LOVE AND THANKS FOR SHARING THE COOL CHRISTMAS VIBES INTRO!!!
I love this “Christmas Show” thanks for recapping It-I never knew why it was out of syndication. Merry Christmas 🎄💫
I love this episode! The color version looks a lot better
CHRISTMAS SHOW I really love the color versions as much as black and white! This is one of the very rare series that you can watch over and over again never getting tired of seeing them. Thank you for sharing and Merry Christmas 🎄🎁
The Christmas Show is one of my favorite shows. Thank you for the glimpse into the past.
I need to see this Christmas Show! Great episode, I look forward to seeing your following episodes!
Nice recap. I never knew why the episode wasn't sold into syndication. Thanks!
Christmas show
I really miss this I Love Lucy show. I look forward to watching it every Christmas season. Thank you for your video!
Ty Rick 😁
Thanks Rick for the interesting insights on " Christmas Show".
Merry Christmas to you and yours.
Merry Christmas, Nick!
My sister and I never missed I Love Lucy in summer reruns as kids in the
I learned something, to-day. Thank-you, ricknineg. I'm going to get out the DVD and, watch this, again. Merry Christmas!
I totally LOVE " I Love Lucy". Never scene ' The Christmas Show" Thank you RIck for giving us such a treasure. Merry Christmas!
I thought that I'd seen every episode of "I Love Lucy" but the "Christmas Show" is new to me.
I've loved this show since I was little. Never tire of watching it. Thanks
