It's cool to come back to these videos. Especially after using logic at a year now that your ready for certain things to level up.
The LFO in the tape delay is awesome, can’t wait to go back and use it!
Tape delay and compression on bass tricks were new to me! Thanks!
Thank's for this video. I really like the tricks with the tape delay and the compressor. 👍😎
Thanks for this video man. I used the last demonstration on my EP recently. And it worked out dope. But that Tape delay effect was something that blew me away. I think Flume probably used something like that on his first album. Thanks again. Logic gang!
Thanks for this man - I'm learning how to mix and this is really useful stuff!
Thank you, so much. I really needed this tutorial.
Amazing! This will help my mixes so much! You are so rad!
Fantastic Sean ! thanks
Now that was some great tips. Thanks, Sean!
Awesome tips!
Thanks!
Another great video, thanks Sean!
Awesome tutorial!!
Sean, thank you so much. This tutorial was very much appreciated. I've been trying to figure this out for some time ... and now I have three options! Perfect.
🙌👍
Logic has grown so much since I last worked in it. That's dope bro. Keep the vids coming. I really dig your techniques.
appreciate it bro!
This is fantastic! Thanks, Sean!
no problem :)
Shout out to you Sean. Love your LPX tutorials. Keep them coming! Super helpful. Cheers!
thanks TAIO! more to come :)
Thank you for these tips! been looking for a year for a simple understanding of the tade delay saturation! and also learned more great stuff!
Glad to hear it Niclas!
Finally found what I was looking for! Thanks man!
no problem :)
Oh gosh! I can't thank more. Always looking for stock nailing like these. Wish to see more later ❤️
More to come!
Love this!
Great! Thank you!
Cant wait to try these tricks out! Thanks man 🤘
Have fun 🙌
Great video! Just getting into mixing my own tracks and was wondering how to get some decent saturation in Logic Pro X. Thanks man!
great job!
thank you my g
EXCITED
Man you're actually fire you actually teach actual ways I appreciate this so much
glad to hear it Mikael, thank you :)
AMAZING!!!
every videos a Fuckin Gem
This is great ! Huge thanks, really saved my work ❤️
Glad it helped!
1:26 bitcrusher
4:20 tape delay
9:00 compresor distorsión
This man is the goat.
I was already cheesing smiling looking back at my newly saved presets knowing I'm about to do some damage and then cue 10:45.
😁🙏
Thank you! You saved my gig!
kewl thanks. Phat effects also is good. peace
love it man
:)
hey, great video! did you notice that if you start to pull up the hipass filter in the tape delay, it lets pass more of the highs?
vice versa if you start to cut the highs, the tape delay lets pass more lows than before.
this is good to know, especially when you want to saturate hi hats or other stuff that's going on in the hi-end.
learned a lot from your videos, keep doing them :) best regards ✌️
Thank you very much
Excellent
so Dope! Excellent info thanks very much
no problem James!
i usually use the Ampex ATR-102 tape machine but it uses so much CPU, that i am excited to try these stock options see how it works for me... Word up
Thanks for the video , very handy
Glad it helped
Thx Mann
awesome mate thank you
Any time!
such valuable content
Glad it was helpful Bryce 🙏
Great!
cool... Thanks🖖🐬
Thx mann
damn. thanks so much!
sure thing!
Would love to see a video where you add these to a master bus on a full composition instead of all individual instruments. Awesome video!
Noted!
Good tutorial amigo
Nice.
Love that Bass sound! How did you get it???
thanks
really helpful thanks :)
Glad to hear that!
Can you use these techniques on the stereo mix to give an overall tape sound ?
Hi Sean! Thankyou for your videos!
How can I use this to give a nice feeling for vocals?
Maybe do the same you did with the rhodes + tape delay but with different configurations?
dope.
Who needs a decapitator when you can use stock plugins and do awesome stuff !
Bunkers tutorial, you're a godsend
Thanks man
🙌
Whoa... Gratitude!!!!
:)
YES
Nice 👍🏻
How do you get logic stock drums to sound clean and tight??????
Sean! Man I been lacking. I’m here now tho
Hi Sean. I really love your videos. Can you tell me what bass instrument you used in this tutorial. Thanks
trillian / omnisphere :)
Nice one bro, name of track, where can I check it out?
@7:50 lol, I used to ffwd then rwd back and forth as fast as possible to tighten up the tape in the deck cuz I knew slip would go away. Tina Turner sounded like crap when it'd blur through. Cheers buddy.
Which one would be best for vocals?
I have 5k worth of plugins and I still find this very useful!
Appreciate that, glad to hear it!
i use this delay vst in my lofi beats
It doesn't do anything on mine but I'm using it on a real bass track... should it work anyways? or only works for MIDI instruments?
Thank you!
welcome :)
y como funciona en el master.
dope video sean. aye man i have a quick question. how come when i master a song and try to get it to the right RMS level to compete with industry standard music, the vocals always end up( idk if they are distorted) but they sound like they are not consistent volume-wise. the volume of the vocals keeps goin up and down. like they are being compressed hard at some points but not others. do u have any tips on how i can correct that problem. does the problem appear in the mastering stage or is it something that im doin wrong in the mixing stage. and mind u that this mostly happens when the artist recorded on a mastered beat. i'd really appreciate ya help man. and i again thx for all the knowledge u be dropping on us.
I've had this problem before with hi-hats popping out at weird times, and with a handful of other sounds. Try to be mindful when compressing the master track and adjust and see how things react. Even without compression, the "natural" compression of things within mixing becomes this war between tight vs looser sounds, and that may throw things off. Try adjusting volumes/compression on percussion or loud synths and whatnot and automate your vocal track to compensate and you'll be fine, sometimes it just takes a pain in the ass of a fine tuning :P
Chances are it's happening on the master bus when using a limiter. All limiters aren't created equally and if you push them too hard, you'll start to get pumping effects and also destroy the dynamics of the song. If you're using a mastered beat then the best bet is to use the most transparent brickwall limiter possible set to 0. Then it's just a matter of mixing your vocals properly to sit well with the beat. For the inconsistent vocals, that's almost always a compression issue. Likely your threshold isn't set properly.
Confidence On Da Track if I can add to what Sean said, sometimes you will need to automate the volume of that specific channel or bus/aux to gain better control of the dynamic levels in order to achieve that natural sound as oppose to making the Compressor or Limiter work harder then it needs to assuming your vocal blend is mixed properly.
KsoundDEF ppreciate it fam.
Since I don’t have logic, what 3rd party plugin would you recommend to achieve such result ?
AC202, J37, Radiator
Thanks!
Sean should I get nerve or ozone 7? I have some tools for mastering but not as good quality as ozone but I really like the workflow of nerve
Hey Alex, both great plugins for what they do. If I had to choose between one or the other, I'd go with Nerve though. You can achieve most of the same results for mastering with other plugins that you can in Ozone. There is no other drum machine on the market I know of that has the workflow and flexibility of Nerve.
How do I find Bitcrusher in the plug in options? don't see it anywhere.
it's under distortion :)
Sean,
With the compressor distortion trick, is there a way to get that distortion to be a little darker/more analog by using the side chain?
Hey Jared, you could always do post EQ to roll off some of the high end distortion... or even use a parallel channel with the distortion, use post EQ on that and then mix it back in with the dry channel
would the bitcrusher sound good with vox or would u rather use tape delay
bitcrusher is a little extreme for this type of processing, since we're going for more of a smooth and rounded saturation
Sean Divine I agree . It’s always cool trying weird ideas with plugins tho . Maybe some hard processing could give the vox a cool effect . As a background filtered idk. Thanks for these videos they are so helpful
why you have a bitcrusher in your master ?
it's just for the sake of the video to keep the master from clipping
Dude how the hell doesn’t this video have a mill in views already… I guess people hate learning or only care to learn certain things but O well more knowledge for me😅
Glad you liked it 🙌
@@SeanDivine Liked it is an understatement, I love it, I’m new to Logic and I’m seeing potential in it that DAWS that I’ve used just don’t have
Hi Sean, how do you do saturation for vocals?
th-cam.com/video/GdJTgK66-zc/w-d-xo.html
Sean Divine thanks man!
One is the loneliest number there could ever be.... Who is he?
Seriously. Weirdo.
