    I no longer work at Nordstrom, but I think this is a really unfair misrepresentation of their business. This return policy isn’t a secret, it’s actually their pride and joy. In the 70’s a Nordstrom location was built on a property which used to be a tire dealer/automotive shop. An elderly gentleman came to that Nordstrom wanting to return tires he bought YEARS ago and the sales associate at Nordstrom was like uh… we’re actually an apparel store, we don’t sell tires. And the gentleman was like yeah, but I bought these *here* (geographically speaking) and was told I could return them if they didn’t work out. The associate called a local tire shop and asked for a fair estimate of the value of the tires and handed the gentleman cash in exchange for the used tires. One of the tires is hanging in the staff room at that location as a reminder to live one the company’s main policy: use your best judgement (in the interest of the customer).

I wouldn’t just constantly return things just because, especially if I’m shopping in-person, maybe sometimes but not for everything like some customers seem to do (just seems tacky, I say this as a shopper & from the times I worked in retail for a different store). • @wolfwhistlewoowoo6297
      @wolfwhistlewoowoo6297 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      However, if everyone did this, Nordstrom would go out of business. The policy is not in place for a lifetime of exchanging things, it is to promote a positive experience for a customer who has a problem with a item that doesn't work for them. Example: if you buy a new pair of shoes and find that the stitching is loose, what a blessing that you can easily take the shoes back and get a better pair with no issues. However, if you purchase a new pair of shoes that work perfectly for you and you wear them every day because they are your favorite brand and they work great, they finally wear out after serving their purpose and you love them so much that you want to find the exact same pair, the policy is not in place for you to trot in and demand a new pair of shoes so that you never have to spend money again. That is not how businesses work. Even thinking of things karmically: you want to live your life from a place of empathy and love to other people and all living beings, treat others in all aspects of life the way that you would want to be treated.

    I work at a retail store and this kind of stuff is SO frustrating. We have many different ways to return items and look up receipts/transactions, if you are a member of our rewards program and entered your number when you purchased it, we can look it up, I'd you payed with card, we can look it up, if you have a receipt, we can return it! So it makes me SO irritated when people, didn't punch in their number, payed with cash and tossed the receipt! Like we give you so many ways! At this point it's the customers fault and they don't deserve a return!

      Be aware of the fact that if you purchase an item from a sales person at nordstrom with intent to return.. that every single cent of that purchase gets taken out of their commission for the pay period. Sales people at nordstrom struggle to make commission every pay period because customers regularly abuse the return policy. Its fu**ed up. If you buy with intent to return than SHOP ONLINE. Stop wasting sales associates time and messing with their livelihood.

    Erika, back when you were practicing law, what would you think if a client refused to pay you even though the client used your advice, and used the documents you created for him/her? That would be theft of services, wouldn't it? You have now advised your viewers to "steal" from Nordstrom's. Where is your integrity? You have just dropped a number of notches in my eyes. I am disappointed in you.

    • @marcorodriguez1301
      @marcorodriguez1301 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This is what Nordstrom’s return policy says:
      “Is there a time limit? What if the item is worn?
      We will do our best to take care of customers and deal with them fairly; we ask that our customers treat us fairly as well. From time to time we may not accept a return. There are no time limits for returns or exchanges.”

    • @marcorodriguez1301
      @marcorodriguez1301 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      And to answer your question about theft of services, Erika probably wouldn’t have faced this situation because she worked for a law firm. She got paid by the law firm; the client didn’t pay her directly. And typically law firms take retainers before doing any work, so this wouldn’t apply. And even if Erika had performed work and not gotten paid, this wouldn’t be theft of services. While the law on theft of services varies from state to state, this generally requires threat or deception. In your hypothetical, your facts indicate only a breach of contract (failure to pay in accordance with an agreement for services). Otherwise, everyone would go to jail for failing to pay a debt, and that was outlawed a long time ago.

    I went to Nordstrom today to buy this bottle of Valentino perfume but they had just sold out of it and well so I had them order it for me,and I don't know why but the manager (who btw is a real sociopath and psychopath) is following me around the store it's really creeping me out and I couldn't stand it!
    Because I'm minding my own damn business and I never,ever approached her or any manager...(except after she approached me first) and brings a bag of samples and I thought it was because today's my birthday ( because today is my birthday) and I thought that that was a nice gesture and so I said Thankyou so much! And I was just going to give her a small little hug....well she backed off and was treating me like like I was some kinda disease or dirt,or gum on her shoe,and then she says "I think that maybe it might be a good idea that if you want to come in and see someone that you make an appointment first"...I said "Are you serious?" That's crazy!" And I just spent almost $200.00 at your damn store and I'm a customer and Ive never made an appointment before,and I'm not going to start doing so now"...here's your samples back!"
    And she says I can go ahead and keep them,but I cannot be bought or bribed,and I am the customer,and (she's making a living off of my money) and I certainly am not a doormat, well I gave the sample bag to someone else who worked there..and I said "I don't want it!" Especially not under her conditions!
    My sister when she was still alive a few years ago tried the same thing on was sending me money..."And use it on whatever you need" she said Okay well people have to buy gas and I don't but my roommate does and so I give him gas money and she found out about it and said "You're not giving him any of my money are you?'
    I said "Oh I see!! So now it's your money,I thought that you said it was mine,except when it comes to him right?"
    And she's saying that she'll send it to our younger sister and then she can meet out the money to me,so I told my yonger sister what she was planning to do,and my sister says "No way I'll just give you all of the money!"...and I told our other sister what she said...and I told her that I appreciated everything her and her husband did for me but if it was a way to control me and came with srings then she could keep her damn money click!!
    I have found out in life that you have to stick up for yourself,or if you don't people like this manager at Nordstrom or people like my sister will try and walk all over you,and that's the truth!
