    Nice one Marc. Instead of cutting traces, I just "tombstoned" the two resistors and then soldered the wires to the top of them. Quick, easy and non-destructive.

    Nice vid Marc. As you will no doubt be doing further work to the 9X may I suggest using a section of veroboard or the like to make a barrier strip strain relief for the connections to the main board.
    BTW just recieved notification HK have Taranis in stock again and I stress at this moment.

      Hot glue served me well enough, once its together and flashed there is not much stress on it at all. I've been back in Ecuador since the new year.

    Hi Marc, Thanks for this video. My tx is hawkeye jr deluxe, how to get telemetry with this module?
    I know, the mods on 9x same as frsky djt i.e. isolated unused pin from ground then connect to rx and tx.
    however I read my tx module have some sort of inverter jumper inside, I left all in default.
    Should I just plug it straight to 9x or should I do some mods to my module?
    Thanks for your help

    Hi, i want to use the R9M Telemetry Module with my Th9X V2 Transmitter. So if i modify the pins and pads on the tx like shown here and connect my R9M module in the JR Bay will i be able to access telemetry? Or will i have to make changes on the R9M Internally too?

    • @Rchacker
      @Rchacker  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      P. Augusto the wiring for the trims is changed in the mod process. When you update the firmware with the frsky telemetry version this will fix itself. (also you will get the same problem if you use the frsky telemetry firmware on a non modded radio).
      Or it could be a bad switch or wiring.

    Thanks a lot man. Question: I have Turnigy 9x with me, and Orange OpenLRS 1W on the way. After doing first part of the mod in your video (before the break), can I simply install the Orange OpenLRS 1W module on the back? Would the telemtery work, or do I need to do some thing similar to get the telemetry data flow between the 9x and Orange OpenLRS.

    • @Rchacker
      @Rchacker  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Its all the same except you do don't need to wire up 5v, gnd and ppm as the module does this for you. You do need to wire up the telemetry yourself and do the telemetry mod, which means opening up the module to find the tx and rx pins.

    Hi RcHacker, first off thanks for your videos and blogs they are extremely helpful for a newbie like me. I just have a question about your Turnigy9x mod with OpenTx and FrSky DHT DIY module if you dont mind. I did the same thing but it seems RSSI and A1 values from my D4R-ii do not come through reliably, sometimes it takes 5 mins to come through some times it doesnt come through at all. Its the same whether board is armed or unarmed. Connectivity is fine on Turnigy9x and FrSky module. Did I somehow damage the FrSky DHT module?

  • @thomashuckaby8867
    @thomashuckaby8867 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    A couple questions if I may. I completed the mods to my T9X Tx per your clear and valuable instructions. It is flashed with OPEN TX. All works properly except I can't obtain correct or variable altitude readings. #2, I get a message upon powering up theTx that reads"ALARMS WARNING Alarms Disabled Press any key". After pressing a key the Tx opend normally. Could you offer any advice as how to correct these two issues? Thank you for your videos and whatever you may suggest here!........Tom

    • @marclazarusgriffith
      @marclazarusgriffith 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Tom, thanks for the feedback. #1 I'm not sure on altitude readings as I do not have the frsky altitude sensor. Perhaps that code has never been tested. #2 long as all your buttons and sticks work then that message is normal. If the alarms are enabled then on power up the remote will not do anything until the throttle is zero and all switched are at their normal positions. Hope this helps.

    Good day,
    great video it shows the complete hacking phase from start to finish,
    I would like to know if there is any good information on how to make a 9XR pro with the openLRSng LRS UHF from orangerx work, I have the Turnigy controller the 1W OrangeRX transmitter and now a broken orange RX unit from a big crash, will replace.
    I am wanting to get the telemetry data working, its sort of a black hole of information, there is a good reason why I am wanting to use the openLRSng software, as I am wanting to add the canon EOS control via the telemetry link also all the other important positional data like GPS and battery levels and what ever else a person might add to a multi-rotor.
    If you know of a place that has a heap of data on how to I would love to know where it is, as I said I really like your videos keep up the great work .
    Looking for to more videos in the future.
    Cheers
    Paul

    hey bud can i add voltage sensors to the rx to get battery voltage via telemetry if so can i get the standard frsky ones to work on the openlrs

    • @Rchacker
      @Rchacker  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, this is the best feature of the telemetry.
      Have a look at the analog input options in the configuration tool to set an analog input. Then use a voltage divider to feed the battery info into the analog pin.
      I used a small 10k multi-turn pot and adjusted it so that a fully charged battery put no more that 3,3v into the analog pin. You then do all the calibration in the radio.

  • @garethhayes9871
    @garethhayes9871 10 ปีที่แล้ว

    Can this be used to send telemetry data other than RX/TX power? For example, could I send battery voltage?

    • @Rchacker
      @Rchacker  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes there are two analog inputs available, make a voltage divider so the voltage max is no more than 3.3v.
      I think it may also be compatible with the frsky hub.

    I know this has been out for a while, but there are quite a few vids of people modding their radios without cutting the circuits like you do. Is there a specific reason you did it like that? The other ways seem to work just fine. Just wondering, plan on doing it to my radio. Thanks guys.

      There is a 9xr pro? Shit I have been away from it for a while, I still have an un-used 9XR on the bench. :) The new one looks like great guts with the same average ergonomics. I hope they sell just the main board.

    • @1983treeves
      @1983treeves 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      They sell an adapter cable for the frsky module but in the manual PDF it shows the internal mod you can do to the plug in module . Thought someone of your following and skill set would of been on the beta testing team

    • @Rchacker
      @Rchacker  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      tom reeves I'd say it would be much easier to get working with all the extra io pins available. Also I'd guess it is a sky9x copy, so right up there with the taranis. Unfortunately getting stuff here from Hobbyking is all but impossible for me since they changed their system again, my last batch of stuff took 2 months.

    Hi, I have a flysky th9x and frsky djt with both non telemetry and telemetry RX.
    1. I wanted to know which procedure should I use to flash er9x and open tx. Coz there are many videos and its confusing.
    2. Would like to know which one is better er9x or open tx.
    3. What does it require to get the voice mod
    Will appreciate if someone can help pls
    Thanks

    • @Rchacker
      @Rchacker  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      1. My procedure in this video and here: www.rchacker.com/projects/turnigy-9x/frsky-dht-module-installation
      and here:
      www.rchacker.com/projects/turnigy-9x/open9x-and-telemetry
      It will be slightly different for your module.
      2. OpenTX
      3. You need to mod it with a capable main board for the voice mod, much easier to just get a Taranis.

    Hello again, I finished up the soldering part just like u explained in the video and ur blog. When I plug in the USBasp programmer through computer (or individual batter), the transmitter gives be switch error. I rechecked the soldering and I look fine to me. Also checked with electric meter and I think the soldering is fine. Any idea. Thanks for the help.

    • @Rchacker
      @Rchacker  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Have you flashed the firmware yet?, Check your switches and re-calibrate after flashing.

    • @nabilgravityoxygen
      @nabilgravityoxygen 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      No bro. No flashing done yet. After soldering, as soon as i pluged in the usbasb, it started beeping and displaying the switch error msg. Note that i also put hot glue on the back of switches while I was at it as recommended by u.

    • @nabilgravityoxygen
      @nabilgravityoxygen 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am thinking that it matbe possibl3 that the hot glue some how melted the connections on the back of the switches.. however, i did try unplugging all the connectors (I believe coming in from the switches) going to the main board where i did all my soldering, pluged in the usbasp, but still the error msg.

  • @1983treeves
    @1983treeves 10 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hey mate iv got the plug in djt frsky module if i mount the telemetry wires like you have done in this and then feed out to the rxd txd gnd on the back on the module will the telemetry work if i have followed every thing else

    • @Rchacker
      @Rchacker  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      No it wont work that easily. The frsky tx and rx lines are RS232, so you need to either get a converter or do the mod that I detail in step 2 of this article. www.rchacker.com/projects/turnigy-9x/open9x-and-telemetry
      Its for the DHT module but you should be able to find other info for the DJT.

    I have issues with naze32acro glitching channels too, but (set emf_avoidance = 1) don´t solve it maybe telemetry off solve it. maybe porximity of rx to naze32 is the problem.
