  • After learning of WNBA star Brittney Griner’s detention in Russia, Naama Issachar knew she needed to share her story. While traveling in 2019, Issachar had a layover in Moscow. After authorities found cannabis in her bag, she spent the next 10 months in a facility until she was pardoned by President Putin. Issachar tells NBC News’ Kate Snow that she was held in cells with up to 40 other women. Issachar says that she was given food, but not toilet paper or feminine hygiene products, and was taken to a cell with an open air roof for one hour a day.

I’m going to be honest, I thought the prison was going to be far worse than what she described. Aside from not having toilet paper and feminine hygiene products of course. I saw a documentary of someone investigating a Russian prison with men (I think it may have been DW News and a French news channel), and there were correctional officers that were torturing them, pining them to the table while raping some of the prisoners, and several other accusations of physical and sexual assault. So when I clicked on this video, I just envisioned the worst possible scenario.
I also dont think it’s smart to parade around saying “what a lie,” towards her sentence. Even if she felt that way, and even if she knew about “political moves”, I would keep it to myself. This way it wouldn’t be heard by Russian officials, and they received it as arrogance and not “positivity”. Then they’ll REALLY want to make an example out of foreign prisoners.

Did Naama say she was leaving the country when they arrested her?
None of it matters, they plant evidence, hey, just like cops do here. Russian soldiers carried off 70 year old grandmothers who were carrying a sheet of paper sign. One person was arrested holding a blank sheet of paper.
Any connection between us siding with Ukrainian and Brittney being arrested? Timing and all.
And for the "do the crime" set…residue is not a crime…it’s just residue. If it wasn’t planted, in fact.

Though legal from the state where he was traveling, it is not in every state. That’s probably the best way to force yourself to learn Russian is to get locked up. I really admire her positive mental state that helped her through this ordeal. 👍

Geezus! That title is a word salad. MSM is a hollowed out husk of what it used to be. Can't even pull off basic journalism.

Really excellent example of strength and hope under dark circumstances! Inspiring! I think, though, realistically, that her family's love and support on the outside was a major source of strength -- oh, and possibly a divine miracle? :)

This little girl doesn’t have a clue.....her mind is all over the place..... one min she is out because of this and then it’s because of that....and also her positive thoughts and ability to deny reality. Geez . Can’t wait for that book of her’s. Honestly. Glad you are out and safe. Think you need to stay close to Mommy and Uncle Benjamin.
