Good review. I can't help but think the tide has turned on the 660 as far as reviews. When it first came out it seemed most riders were poo'ing the bike as inferior to the T7. Reading between the lines had me liking the Aprilia more. Now it seems most reviews are favoring the Tuareg and finding less fault.
Awesome review and fantastic bike! I much prefer to hear how the bike ride and feel, rather than listening someone reading off the spec sheet. Aprilia has raised the bar of midsize ADV bikes
I think you are one of the very best reviers. Th e moment you said it is no contest between this motorcycle and Tenere i knew you are honest . You gained a subscriber and a fan.
How it feels on the go. Yeah, we can read the technical details anywhere. But we want to know how a bike feels on the trail. The Tuareg looks an amazing bike off-road.
Hi mate, I ended up buying a 2024 Dakar Podium, can you tell me what those tyres were on your test bike.. if you recall.. thanks for your vids, we love em.. Kym
Great review of a bike that other manufacturers would love to make.. but won't. Can you give us some idea of the air miles you get per litre, looks pretty high 😉
What a joy, after a two days in the saddle with rain and slippery conditions, The Aprilia Tuareg was right on the money, Even with the shitty STR they come with, It is so composed, wouldn't waste my money on a T700..
Gotta have one. I have a 1290 sas for the road touring. This is what i need for the dirt weekends. The only thing stopping me is no dealership within a couple hundred miles of Boise. ☹️
As others have said, this is an exemplary and totally focused review of an ADV bike. In Britain, there are plenty of these bikes available with under a thousand miles/1600 kms with a sub £9k price tag. Judging by this very thorough workout, it's hard to think of a better bang for your buck for a standard new/nearly new ADV machine.
Hey Wayne, great review. I know it's been cold down in Vic but have you noticed the exhaust heat that many complain about to the point where a de-cat would be a necessity in warmer temperatures?
I haven’t, but it wasn’t that hot when I rode it. I will be on one again soon tho.. and its warming up.. 😊 I wonder if the decat is just an excuse to liberate some decibels lol
Ha Jason, yes there is a heat issue with the cat on the tuareg, I've just picked mine up and did 700klicks and yes it get hot but it was a 30c day and I'm in Qld, My 1190 was worse couldn't get away from it even came up through the seat !! So two choices wrap it or get new headers. One thing throw, I don't really notice it that much with my boots on..
Make what a Fucking review! Your comment “Those blokes who started out on Dirt Bikes”! BOOOOOM! Here in the UK we’re doing hand the same access to dirt you do but……some of the dirt Surrey Hills I’m riding on this thing Fucking ROCKS!!! On the road on OEM tyres it’s an ANIMAL! ❤️ Love bikes with soul🔥
That would be interesting for sure. I dont think the T7 would be in the hunt. I tested it on that same loop among other places when I reviewed it last year…
I am a person who likes to see a clear winner. As your riding skill is very high, it would just close the book which bike is best... Like the old days of bike comparo's, we always used to have a clear winner... I get very tired of testers and people reviews on bikes but then dance around the true performance. Seeing how in reality we truely only have 2 bikes that have it. Aprilia and Yamaha. Just my honest opinion. I'm already biased to Italian anyway
@@johnclowes3502 Your bias has merit John. I'll put it this way - when I rode the T7, I didn't get off wondering how I could have it end up in my shed... But I might be clearing an extra space soon for one of these jiggers... If that doesn't tell you which I prefer I'm not sure what would ;)
Question, you said it kissed the end of the stroke on the suspension, was there more ability to dial it in if needed? Or was that its limit? Just curious, because I am looking at this & T7
Hey Chris - there was absolutely more room to firm it up further. Realistically I wasnt going to be launching any harder than off some of those (or I would have gone another click or two). So the setting I found was right for the pace and type of riding I wanted to do. For blokes who want to load it up further there is still plenty of scope left.
@Vicko026 okay wasn't sure a lot reviews say to keep it on 1 🤔 I really think I'm going to love this bike over the T700, I won't have to restle so much the Yamaha is not always that forgiving is the 🫨
Me personally Todd, for the riding I love doing, its hard to go past the Kato890AR and the Tiger900 (having done nearly 300 thousand on my Tiger800XC). I have a 350 enduro bike as well for tighter single trail stuff so I'ma bit spoilt. But this little Priller floats my boat a bit obviously.
I don't think it'd be an issue Clement. Being a bigger unit, you might want to opt for bar risers? (I'd assume the same on any other bike for your height fwiw). It doesn't feel like it would be small/cramped for you I dont think but see if you can blag a ride on one.
I hope Aprilia launches this in India soon. The 600 cc segment is severely lacking here. The available options (Versys, VSTROM, Tiger) can't be classified as true ADVs. The bigger 900/1200cc are just way too big and expensive. And Yamaha India absolutely sucks. They're still selling 150cc motorcycles. The Tuareg will be perfect a d if prices around 10 lac Indian Rupees, will sell well.
Given the flogging the same engines are getting in the RS660s… to which they are holding up fine. And these are detuned… I see no reason why you wouldn’t.
@@Vicko026 thanks Wayne. Just trying to organise a test ride. I have yet to see any reviewer give the Tuareg a bad rap. Looks like Aprilia nailed this one!
What about brakes and servicing, anything feel vulnerable or flimsy/cheap? If you were spending dollars, what you buy? I understand you have to be unbiased, but your dollars on the line for any of the Adv range bikes, what you pony up for?
Yep was a bit muffled on that first bit. Turns out the mic worked better with the visor up. Got a new mic setup ready to test for the next one. Hopefully you got the gist of it 😂

Let’s hope they’ve nailed the oil leaks that some have experienced overseas!
th-cam.com/video/_upKGynKqpo/w-d-xo.html
@@martyn_g the oil leaks are due to inadequate gaskets for how hot the engine runs. Proper gasket, and de -cat silencer should solve the issue.

Seriously mate, you've made my mind up.. as soon as the R licence is in the pocket.. keep these type of reviews going man.. they're real... 🤘😎

That induction noise is the best about it, probably.
It’s even better on the bike…
Great Video and shows the real capabilities of the Tuareg :) I have one in the uk and its a fantastic all rounder

Unreal riding skills. Many thanks for sharing
Yep. Nice riding!
Picked one up Saturday in the uk .rode 90 miles didn't intend to 😅.Great bike, the quick shifter is awesome
What a beast! I want one! Great flick Brother 👌

Thanks for the kind words - that sounds like a proper bargain over there!!!
why are there so many of these for sale used there already? Here in the US they're in short supply and asking ~$14,500.

Austrailia has to be one of the best places in the world for adventure bikes. I am jealous.

Liking this bike very much indeed! Great ride and review mate. Just where are those awesome tracks?
Gday mate - this is down the Otway Ranges in Victoria. Just inland of the Great Ocean Road.
@@Vicko026 ah ok, bummer they look like excellent tracks but a tad too far away from me lol. ATB Jason.
What tyres are you running on the Beast, just picked mine up ,got 200ks on it and hate the str they come out with, so please share.
Conti TKC80 Twinduros - perfect for these trails.
As always - lower pressure don't ride off-road on mfg spec pressure there are for road and fuel consumption.
I run lower even for pure road riding
I would love a T7 standard vs Tuareg std. With your self at the helm on both... Fit, function and finish...
