    PAT JUMPING SHIPS AND YELLING THE INARIZAKI MOTTO LMAOOO

  • @ICavalcadeI
    @ICavalcadeI 2 ปีที่แล้ว +318

    I'm glad Pat understood the "We Don't Need the Memories" motto, because it's probably my favourite one of all the high schools. It's also important thematically with how this match ends. And there's also nothing wrong with the translation of the motto (it's more like "we don't need things like memories," but sort of a distinction without a difference), it's meant to be taken more in the spirit of how Pat explained it. It's a team philosophy that does have it's faults, but it's not a bad philosophy at all.

    You don't realize how emotional I got during this episode because of Hinata eating that receive. It was such a pivotal training arc leading up to this moment. All Hinata cared about was spiking and being up at the net but he has come to learn that volleyball is so much more than slamming points. Without the receive, there are no plays to be had. I'm so proud of my little tangerine!

    This in my opinion, is the best episode in the entire show. From the pay off of Hinata finally becoming more than just Kageyama’s weapon, to that insanely intense point, to the definition of Inarizaki’s motto, this episode has everything. I get so hyped everytime Hinata yells, “Kageyama!!!!”🥹😮‍💨🙌🏽

    • @ICavalcadeI
      @ICavalcadeI 2 ปีที่แล้ว +68

      I noticed a lot of reactors have this problem. They're fooled by the high flying and zooming animation into thinking that Hinata is a good volleyball player rather than just being freakishly athletic. Part of the problem is that I think a lot of people watch Haikyuu!! like they watch sports. They're not really paying attention to the narrative developing and being displayed, they're just rooting for their team or the players that they like.

    • @ICavalcadeI
      @ICavalcadeI 2 ปีที่แล้ว +55

      @@Axel-ye8tt how do you determine whether somebody is a good or bad volleyball player other than their mastery of the sport? His skill level was rudimentary at best, and his volleyball IQ was nonexistent (was much better post ball-boy arc). He was a bad volleyball player who had the potential to be a good one. But as Takeda said, he who climbs the ladder must start at the bottom.

    • @kalikala84
      @kalikala84 2 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      @@ICavalcadeI I think this comes from just not knowing the sport as well. You see Hinata scoring points so you associate it with him being good. But if you know volleyball and if you pay attention to the parts when they are teaching you the sport you know that his fundamentals were missing but he had potential and natural athletic ability, hence his rapid growth and adaptability. It was just hard for Karasuno to teach him the fundamentals without holding back everyone else and not being ready for competition. So they focused on improving his natural skills and nurturing his chemistry with Kage, hoping everyone else could fill the gap of his missing fundamentals. His growth arcs were much needed and he still has a long way to go.

  • @Lucarioforce

    This is honestly one of my favorite episodes. It shows why Hinata belongs on the team, it shows how far he's come and the lessons he's learned. He is the sun that shines despite the somber atmosphere. That receive would be cool in isolation, but the build-up and the motivations add so much more meaning to the whole moment

    Something I think it's bold from the author Furudate is that he doesn't mind to put up a lesson in a situation where the main character involved loses. Like that point for Inarizaki on the end. The piton lesson is there, Hinata truly got that point back and gave his team another chance. They lost, but the lesson is there. Usually in life is like that too... if you only value the lesson when you win, you will be missing the point here. The guys is nuts, Haikyuu is an amazing history just for that. In the end, is all about the lesson and not about the victory.

      I went through 10s of different yes but no - no but yes type of scenarios in my head for that news by this point. It really fucking sucks that we won't get to see nearly all of the national's greatness from the Karasuno stuff let alone the other stuff but then again, I'm expecting the animation to be really fucking sick if they go this route so there's some positives to it. Tbh I always imagined everything after nationals would make a pretty great movie to end it on but I definitely wanted to see nationals in all their glory in anime form. Now I'm definitely worried but hopeful that what we do get will be worth it quality wise etc. So while I'm not happy about it, it's better than nothing and I do hope what we get will be polished like never before.

This was when he finally was able to show everyone his growth and his journey to being a complete player as well as becoming a true little giant.

    Unpopular opinion but I'll say it: I personally didn't like Hinata's receive in this episode. It was a good moment but for him to go from barely being able to receive at all to then being able to perfectly receive a spike from one of the top 5 aces? Something about that just feels weird especially with how late he started practicing receives but that goes for all the random moves Hinata starts pulling outta his ass during the nationals as a whole. I'd have been fine with him receiving any other surprise spike but not one from a perfect double set to one of the best aces around.

    • @goldnscout
      @goldnscout ปีที่แล้ว +13

      I think you’re being too reductive. This whole season for Hinata as built to this moment. And to emphasize, it was not a ‘perfect double set’: Aran was not fully expecting the set and Hinata even tells us how he was able to get the ball. He notices a rough approach from Aran and he notices where his block is, so he then knows where to position himself. He had done the same process at moments in this game but his timing/positioning was slightly off. This time everything comes together for him. This moment is huge for him because it’s the start of the show telling us that this is just the beginning for hinatas growth. He’s no longer relying on his instincts. He is thinking and analyzing the game now. The show tells us all this.

    • @gastonkostas2520
      @gastonkostas2520 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      We saw that he was trying to read and receive attacks from their previous matches in Season 4 Part 1 (eg. getting hit on the chest or received it with his foot). He read all those moments perfectly but was still unable to execute a proper receive. So this receive isn’t like a “DBZ power up”. After reading that Aran wasn’t ready and his previous fuck ups plus his ball boy arc, he definitely earns that moment.

    • @ICavalcadeI
      @ICavalcadeI ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Aran was not in position to do an optimal spike. He wasn't even expecting the set because Osamu unexpectedly set the ball that was set to him. The combination of the shaky set, the unpreparedness for the set, and the narrow course set by the blockers made it so that Hinata could be in position to receive it well. Mind you,m ost above average defenders would have had no problem receiving that spike. But Hinata is a liability when in the back row, which is why he gets subbed out often in that rotation. For him to have made that receive, and to have made it intelligently was noteworthy. Not unrealistic in the slightest.

  • @CuddleBuddee
    @CuddleBuddee ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Pat and Nikki showing they're the weakest reactors of the crew yet again.
    Yet another example why that Nikki person, while she brings hype a great moments, is a novice to the genre or storytelling in general. Doesn't acknowledge the value of backstory and storytelling in order to build up these kinds of moments.
    Here it's Hinata's 4 seasons of poor fundementals and working towards improvement culminating in the perfect recieve a direct spike from a top 5 spiker in the country. Or previously, Tsukki's development culminating in S3E4 epic stuff block match set point against a top 1-3 player in the country. Both moments would have been less epic without backstory and flashback/narrative with Bokato and National Team Coach poeticizing what that moment meant.
    I look forward to Nikki's having some character growth. Right now she's at a dumbed down DBZ level of appreciation, juvenile. Pat is a lot better than he used to be. It's highly disappointing to see any reactor trash backstory and the Japan National Team Coach's narration in Hinata's moment.
