What is wrong with holset? For the money they are great turbos and spool very well for their size and power potential. I would say i prefer A Garret GT series ball bearing, but for some builds you really can't justify the cost when a hx35 or 40 will make all you need. Heck there are many guys in the volvo community that manage to spool a HX52!. That is a very large turbo on a 2.3L and it spools at 4000rpm....that's pretty good and shows how well the diesel turbine housing shapes are designed.
This engine is a monsterr..getting that sort of power below 8000rpm is very scary for any driver to drive on the streets..this monster is for drag race is supposed..
Just guessing, but.. block is probably from the "Z" version aka supercharged, as it's far stronger than stock. it's also low compression which makes it able to take more pressure than stock as it's high compression from the start. So.. to make a short story long.. build pressure on a "high compressure chamber" = cracks = bad. Build high pressure in a "low compression chamber" = good He's probably using the stocker kit also.
I want to do this with an aw11, what turbo and supercharger you using? I was thinking of Rotrex C38-71 and Holset HX30 but if I can find a more reliable/proven setup I'd be happy to consider it. Any information you can give me would help, thanks.

The dyno pulls seem to be in 2nd gear, evident by the short runs. In 3rd & 4th, the load is greater due to higher gear ratios (numerically lower). Allowing more time under load, helps the dyno read hp better. Try using taller tires than the 22.70" overall diameter of the stock 185/60-14, resulting in a lower ratio, for better use of your hp, aiding acceleration on the road. Lower gears were used by the factory to make up for lack of hp/tq. Clearly not your case w/600+ hp @ the crank. :-)

everyone here is wrong. it probably IS the GZE block only for the pistons. BUT. the GZE wasnt the "strongest" block it was ONLY in 7 rib form. not 3 OR 7.. NA engines came in 3 rib 85-86 MR-2 87-89 was 7rib almost ALWAYS.. AE86 GT-S never got a 7 Rib.. *im talking about the MK1 MR2 aka. AW11*
agreed.. someone cant hoook.... lolz.. with 350 you can hit 11.50's, cuz we've done it. with 400- 450 you should be breakign high tens if you have the proper suspension.

It`s the 7 rib block,reinforced with aluminium machined to fit in waterpockets. Before that the block used to reshape oval form.
