Urethral lengthening. Mouth graft... Huh. Never would have guessed that. I just assumed it would be an artificial tube but I suppose that would be very uncomfortable.
DrGrukar McNinjaSixthGun It would reject, not be able to heal to the body's tissue properly in that situation, wouldn't move the same way that human tissue does, and importantly, wouldn't have any of the mucosa glands and other properties of a mouth or vaginal graft which then wouldn't protect the body against anything (microbes, bacteria, etc) entering the urethra nor allowing it the be completely able to perform the necessary functions it needs to to keep everything inside safe. Plus there's usually always a higher complication rate when introducing any foreign materials into the body vs using available body tissue. Urethral lengthening is a pretty complex procedure for something that seems so easy, right? Like you'd think you could just link up a long bit to the old bit and boom, urethral lengthening. But it's actually super involved and is the part that generally has the highest complication rate.
Bryn Jackson Interesting, didn't realise it was that complex. Well, I am aware of the body rejecting foreign matter, but I assumed it would be a material that would be one that wouldn't trigger an immune response, like implants or even the testicular implants that he will eventually get. That said, it makes sense to use tissue from his own body since the urethra would actually have a function and would not be purely cosmetic. I thought it would be like the mechanism they can put into those who get phalloplasty, the device for creating and maintaining an erection with the pump and all. Surgical processes really fascinate me.
DrGrukar McNinjaSixthGun Yeah it's all very complex. There are a lot of factors that go into whether or not a certain body part and it's function can or would be okay to use a foreign material. The urethra is just so delicate as is and has an.extremely important function, so the safest and easiest bet is just to use the tissue that's already present in the body than anything else. Your body won't reject certain materials, true, but it's usually a less 'integral/important' part/function of the body. Plus, added risk of complications with an already fairly complication-potential area + procedure isn't a good idea. There's also cost/risk/effort:benefit to be taken into consideration... If it's just easier to use donor tissue and artificial structures could work but brought their own set of risks and complications, why not just use what's already there? Sensation is a big deal too - You do want some form of sensation inside the urethra and artificial tissue couldn't provide that. Basically, we probably _could_ use artificial material for urethral lengthening, but it wouldn't have any advantages over donor tissue and would have many of its own disadvantages... So, if it ain't broke don't fix it really, hahaha.

I just would like to say thank you for your channel. In the LGBT+ community there is a perception that we’re all one big cohesive club and we’re all familiar with each other’s stories. Although I have had some experience and exposure with some trans folks in the community, as a cis-gendered gay male, much of that was still as much a mystery as it would be to anyone else. Your frank and open discussion of your process is very teaching to those who haven’t shared that path. Again thank you. And I don’t know is this is appropriate as a compliment, but I really can’t imagine you any other way than the man I see before me.

Let me just explain: We feel super, super uncomfortable about everything, our bodies, our voices, everything. When we can finally transition, it's nice. Except poor people (like me) cant get surgery because of money problems which seriously sucks. All i can do is cut my hair, bind, and pack. I've never known a trans person but from social media and seeing a lot of them, I definitely treat them like regular people (because thats what they are) and I've been attracted to a few. After seeing this video and the one where your fiancee answered questions about dating a trans person, I'm subscribing to you because you're amazing
Thanks for answering such personal questions. This is an ever changing medical field and it’s nice to know the details for ppl thinking about such things. Surgery is never an easy road.
I feel like you've become a lot more comfortable with sharing details about your physical transition since I first started watching you, and I'm really happy that you are because it's so interesting and you're educating us which is awesome!

Jamie, I rarely comment on your videos, despite having been sub'ed for years. I would like you know how impressed I am with how you can take "gouche" subject and still keep it super classy! To answer your question, I think you look great with your glasses and without them. You very handsome, so I guess it doesn't matter. LOL Thank you for sharing you life, and Shaaba's, with us. I found you channel years ago, when a friend of mine came out as trans to me, and I was looking for more information, so I could be as helpful as this friend needed me to be. As far as I know, because of their family and social situation, they still do not live openly as they would prefer, and I am still one of the few people that knows that this person has these feelings. I know one f the major reasons you started this channel, and why you continue to share, is to help trans people navigate the very difficult process of transitioning (or not, whatever that person is comfortable with). While I am not trans, your advise and information has still been helpful to this trans friend of mine, by helping me be a better friend to them. Thank you! Thank you, again. Sincerely, Sherri P.S. Thank you for introducing all of us to your wonderful fiancee, as well. I love her vlogs and watch them every week. You two are just so freakin' cute! Much love, Shaaba!
Love the glasses. They look awesome on you and I definitely like your hair better a Lil more tight with the frontal blonde color. You’re looking amazing young sir ! Appreciate you and your videos. I’ve watched many and found only one other person that I like as much as you because of your ability to explain things intelligently but in a way that’s easy to understand and because I find your videos informative and entertaining as well with you fantastic sense of humor and wit ( love the facial expressions)I believe I’ve mentioned that my son is FTM and although I readily accepted him and supported and loved and accompanied him on many of his initial doctor consultations there just were many questions I wanted to ask but felt it too personal and he’d get awkward when I’d ask so your uploads have given me all the answers I wasn’t comfortable asking or him answering. I think what you are doing to educate people is fantastic and I know it takes courage and I love how you feel so comfortable and confident enough to do this for us . Thank you Jamie ! All the best as always! 🌹
Jammi, I have to say well done on the transition. You look just like a young man. I've known many friends who look like you. Good doctors and good on you.
Hi Jamie! I love your videos. I'm trans ftm and mum doesn't accept me. She's been ignoring it since I came out almost 2 years ago. I've recently been to the Dr about being trans and I don't know whether to tell my mum. I have no idea what to do anymore
Hey! Just wanted to say I can totally relate! Except I don't live with my mum and we've have really got on but I came out to her late last year now I think. I actually have only came out as FtM to 10 people. ( I got the big 1-0 on Monday actually!😊) most of the people I've told were immediately supportive but my mum actually tried to guilt trip me lying about buying a really expensive bridesmaid dress for me and then lying about winning the euro lottery because she thought I was lying 😑 ever since she's just pretended that I never came out to her and every time I bring it up she starts an argument and I'm so done with her. Either way you have my support and I'm sorry about what's happening and I hope you figure it out 💛
Steph Southgate I'm out at college (school if you're American) and I go by my preferred name, preferred pronouns. At college I feel completely safe but at home I don't. She just ignores the problem, probably hoping it'll go away on it's own. But it won't. And the more you ignore the problem, the worse it gets. Right? I'm at a dead end I have no idea what to do anymore. I don't know whether to give her an ultimatum of this is me if you don't accept me kick me out (I sorta have somewhere to go)
How old are you Shay? I’m so sorry your mum is struggling to accept who you are. I understand how hard it is for you to be safe at college but not at home. It’s really rough on you. Not every parent manages to be supportive immediately but that doesn’t necessarily mean she won’t come round. I think often parents feel hurt by their child coming out, not just because it can feel like a rejection of who they’ve thought you are but because of the choices they’ve made on your behalf like naming you and so on. If it’s coinciding with the rocky teenage years when parent/child relationship is often turbulent anyway then parents can sometimes hope it’s “just another teenage fad” that will pass. Personally I’d give her a chance rather than an ultimatum. Saying “you not accepting who i am is really affecting our relationship and my emotional health, I don’t think I can stay here if you can’t accept me, please let’s talk about it, I’m finding this really hard, I can tell that you are too, please ask me what you need to ask me, or let me show you where you can learn what you need to know to understand this properly” is very different to “accept me or I’m gone”when I don’t think you’re at that stage. Does that make sense? Sorry I’m blundering in giving unsolicited advice but I hate to hear how hard this is for you. I’m educating a family member at the moment from a place of open mindedness but NO knowledge, I find Jamie’s videos so helpful, and there are loads of other great trans people doing a huge favour to the world in doing the emotional labour of spreading awareness and countering the Daily Mail and its shitty bigotry. Good luck Shay, one step at a time, one foot in front of the other.
I havn't had bottom surgery, not even something close to it. But i did have an operation involving temporarily having my testicles outside of my body. And oh boy was the recovery hard, it took me 2 months just to be able to walk down stairs again. I literally only moved from my couch to the bathroom and back for two months. It took me equally as long to even be able to wear pants. So i feel your pain. It's an experience no one wants to go through, but luckily for both of us it was worth it in the end :) Much love to you man
Not to scare anyone, my experience was the same and I didnt have any complications... It was all worth it though. Also, be glad your balls are small. Mine are ridiculously large, and I cant ride a bike anymore... which is quite problematic in a country where the bike is the most used type of transportation.
Hey Jemie! Great videos man! I'm Joshua (preferred name) from Sri Lanka. FTM. Not out to much. When i feel down i always come back to your vlogs. You inspire me man. Thanks. It's really hard here in Sri Lanka to be a transman. I'm pre everything. Now itself feeling lonely and dead.
Definitely with glasses. (Like your handsome without them as well, but your glass suit your face). To me personally you look like a bookworm who is a time travelling teacher. (That's a compliment by the way, My nan doesn't get my compliment, so I thought I should just state it). Could you make a video of all the different bottom surgeries and how they work and what not?
Don’t rush it though, aight?. Teens go through many physical and mental changes due to hormones that may impact how they feel or how they will feel when they’re older. You never know if you change your mind in the future.
I’ve been absolutely gobsmacked by the number of TH-cam videos by people who regret transitional surgery. I think it’s a good thing that Great Britain’s national healthcare system took three years to begin your transition surgery because it hopefully helps weed out people who might later regret having rushed to have an irreversible surgery.
I also want the meta without urethral lengthening, bc it doesn’t matter to me how I pee. What’s important for me is 1) that it looks as ”cis” as possible (which it will bc my growth definitely looks like a cis peen) and phallo wouldn’t look as natural as meta, 2) to retain sexual function, being able to get an erection, which what I have now can do but a phallo wouldn’t. Also, I don’t want urethral lengthening bc I don’t want them messing with my peen like that! Hahaha xD However, I don’t know if I’m actually going to do it, bc I recently had a hysto with complications and it kinda scared me.
Cis bi guy here. Peeing standing up is only really useful outside. I usually choose to sit especially in the middle of the night in the dark. It's way less messy and you'll save hours cleaning the toilet 😷
Cis straight girl here. If you are a straight male (whether Trans or Cis) your future girlfriend would hate you forever anyways if you peed standing. :D
im not sure if this is rude but i figured it might make you feel good ab yourself, so i’ll take the chance. if i saw you on the street, i would never know that you were trans. you are so handsome and im so proud of you for being so comfortable in your skin now♥️
I love this channel. And I hope this is taken as funny and not offensive, but all I could think when you talked about getting testicles all I could think was tennis “New Balls Please!” 🎾
This was so educational, thank you for sharing your story with us! It's also interesting to hear how it works with the NHS bit as well, being from the States. (Also, despite knowing you're trans & seeing your progress pic vids it's still a little "funny" to hear you talk about getting/not getting a hysterectomy!)
Thank you so much for speaking so open. And I loved a bearded man speaking about the joy of taking their bra of 😎 I'm sure your girlfriend likes your empathy concerning girl stuff!
I’m a pre-T trans guy who’s a bit unfamiliar with bottom surgery, and my mom asked me a question that I couldn’t find the answer for. When it comes to bottom surgery (meta or phalloplasty), do you get to decide things like length, girth, whether you’re “circumcised” or not, etc.? I’m mostly considering phalloplasty, but I’m definitely looking into meta as well.
Esperalis you can chose your size to some extent, and girth to a lesser extent. It depends on your donor location. With having the graft from your arm you will have a slimmer penis and possibly shorter than if it was your thigh. Your arm can get you lenghts of approximately 4-5 inches. Your thigh, depending on your weight will be thicker because there is more fat there, and there is a possibility for it to be longer than the arm graft. Currently there is no ability to give a foreskin to any ftm bottom surgeries. When it comes to meta though you cannot chose how large or the girth of it as they take your clitoris and make it look more like a penis.

Didn't read all of them but, along with your candid answers, I commend the commentators on their intelligent discussions. You and they've all answered a lot of my questions.
i'm crying "orbee balls" lmao
YOU ARE SO PRECIOUS I'M SO GLAD I FOUND YOU AHHHH ❤
Thank you for making these posts and educating us on your experience
I've never known a trans person but from social media and seeing a lot of them, I definitely treat them like regular people (because thats what they are) and I've been attracted to a few. After seeing this video and the one where your fiancee answered questions about dating a trans person, I'm subscribing to you because you're amazing
Thanks for answering such personal questions. This is an ever changing medical field and it’s nice to know the details for ppl thinking about such things. Surgery is never an easy road.
Glasses look good!
Hey dude, thank you so much for teaching about transbody, even though it must feel super intimate to talk about it! :)
Your videos are always so informative and just kinda....calming? I dunno? Just thank you for putting these up. I really really appreciate it !!!
Thank you for taking on the emotional labor of sharing your experience with those who have questions. May you always be surrounded by loving kindness.
I feel like you've become a lot more comfortable with sharing details about your physical transition since I first started watching you, and I'm really happy that you are because it's so interesting and you're educating us which is awesome!
Thank you for the questions you chose and your answers!! I sincerely appreciate you answering the questions so candidly!!
I'm from America and finding out you could get surgery for free was incredible, I'm greatful that you didn't face a huge financial burden from this surgery.
The taxpayers paid... Not free... Paid by others
@@merilupa9942 Id much rather pay taxes to keep people healthy (in mind and body) and alive than pay, as we now do, mostly for the U.S. war/military machine. U.S. has THE worst health care system of any 1st world nation. Yes, I'm a fully cis gendered American, and fully support the idea of tax funded medical care paying for transgender surgery.
@@martyadams3172 cisgender? I totally disagree, mental illness is not an excuse to mutilate healthy body parts. You and i just disagree and that's ok, thanks for respectful reply. Ciao from Italy
That’s actually a really good idea w the testiculat implants! kinda like an IUD except it releases T instead of estrogen, patent it now!
A lot of people don't realise that the urethral opening is not the same as the vaginal opening. Which is why many people get confused. I had to explain to a lady in her fifties that no she didn't per out of her vagina.
the education system has failed us
I like you in both glasses and no glasses. Either way you're very handsome ☺. I have been binge watching your videos for the last three days. I just think you and Shabba are adorable. Your engagement video made me cry. I have learned so much about the trangender community from your videos. Keep up the amazing work
Aw thank you so much! So pleased to hear you could learn from my videos, that's awesome :D
This helped me so much!!😍 Im FTM and I was asking this before I go Trans!💙 love this channel🤩
Update? :)
4:26 Lol, well atleast you can talk about them in public Ex. "God my orbies are so itchy!"
This is all really interesting, I'm always grateful to trans people who are okay with talking about the technical aspects of transition. I'm sure it's not easy so I just want you to know that I really appreciate that you do.
I watch you because my daughter is considering having the surgery. Even though I'm not 100% with her on this, no matter what she decides to do, I want to find out as much as I can so I can be there for her.
What pronouns do they go by?
@@ghostcookie21 he, him, sometimes non gender. I'm trying to get used to doing so, sometimes I forget, not out of disrespect but for 18 years I've always said my daughter. Now I say I have 5 son's instead of 4 and a daughter. I've always respected Cam as being gay when he came out, still the same person, still my sweet child and I love him just as much as I did her
@@rosemaryreed1226 please start calling him your son and he/him pronouns, its so damaging when he hears his deadnane and deadpronouns probably
I would suggest that maybe try to explain the terms you get into in this video. Like I had to google all the terms you mentioned like metoidioplasty and phalloplasty to get an idea of what you were talking about! Would really appreciate a small explanation of the terms you are going to talk about next time you do a video like this :)
I think he's done videos explaining those things in the past. This would have been a very long video if he'd repeated that information again.
Jamie,
I rarely comment on your videos, despite having been sub'ed for years.
Sincerely,
Sherri
You’re absolutely beautiful with AND without glasses! You’re a handsome man period
Thumbnail: "how do I pee?"
Me, a biologist: "out of your urethra!"
Jammi, I have to say well done on the transition. You look just like a young man. I've known many friends who look like you. Good doctors and good on you.
You are a blessing for Trans kids...also, thank you for educating me .
Educating the masses! Great video, lots of love 💕
I think this is the cutest you've looked in a vid Jamie, I'm loving the glasses btw 😁
I don't know whether to give her an ultimatum of this is me if you don't accept me kick me out (I sorta have somewhere to go)
Shay you may not care but almost all of the people with a brain will accept you.And you will be okay.
Y
Wow! You're so handsome. One of my friends is also FTM so seeing this gives me hope.
That testosterone idea is so amazing! Like the implant for contraception I'm sure it could happen!!
You look super adorable and handsome with this shirt and these glasses as well. All the best to you, dear Jamie! 😘
Thank you for being so open about all this.
Thanks so much for making this video! I've been thinking about getting metoidioplasty. Also you're adorable with glasses
Matthew Arangatta same.
You look good with and without glasses
This whole channel is TMI, but like educational
Definitely with glasses. (Like your handsome without them as well, but your glass suit your face). To me personally you look like a bookworm who is a time travelling teacher. (That's a compliment by the way, My nan doesn't get my compliment, so I thought I should just state it). Could you make a video of all the different bottom surgeries and how they work and what not?
As a Trans „kid“- both bottom and top surgery creep me out very badly but I still want to get it someday so thank you for educating me :)
Then dont do it.
Don’t rush it though, aight?. Teens go through many physical and mental changes due to hormones that may impact how they feel or how they will feel when they’re older. You never know if you change your mind in the future.
"orby balls" -jamie, 2k18
That sigh at 5:31 is everything 😅👏🏽👏🏽
Hahaha xD
However, I don’t know if I’m actually going to do it, bc I recently had a hysto with complications and it kinda scared me.
Thank you SO much for your frank and honest information!
You are a really nice guy within! I can see it in the way you conduct yourself!
You’re a righteous dude.
I like how your "bright shirt" is either just a really dull dark purple or faded black because same
im not sure if this is rude but i figured it might make you feel good ab yourself, so i’ll take the chance. if i saw you on the street, i would never know that you were trans. you are so handsome and im so proud of you for being so comfortable in your skin now♥️
Love the glasses! Actually love without too. Looking good! 😁
Happy yr in a mental/healthy place to give advice and explaine procedures send in ❤
Not gonna lie
You look pretty damn cute. Especially with glasses
I would never in a million years guess that you’re transgender. Love your voice, your accent and the way you speak. ♥
I love this channel. And I hope this is taken as funny and not offensive, but all I could think when you talked about getting testicles all I could think was tennis “New Balls Please!” 🎾
I love your chair / couch where did u get it from
Ikea
This was so educational, thank you for sharing your story with us! It's also interesting to hear how it works with the NHS bit as well, being from the States. (Also, despite knowing you're trans & seeing your progress pic vids it's still a little "funny" to hear you talk about getting/not getting a hysterectomy!)
I just found your TH-cam you’re so charming and fun to watch I don’t understand half the words you use but I’m trying 😂❤️
You're a dream boat with or without the glasses 💕
Your haircut is amazing here, Jamie!
i loved the shirt with the contrast of the yellow chair
Thank you very much, you explain yourself so well, is beautiful listening to you, and is so useful.💛💛💛
I love your videos. Glasses and no glasses are both good looks! Love and support from the US
I feel like I am in a bio class whenever I watch your videos recently..... It was good though.... So much informative.......... Thank you
My transgender friend (who doesn't speak English) told me to watch your video to explain to him everything. So here I am.
Thank you so much for speaking so open.
And I loved a bearded man speaking about the joy of taking their bra of 😎 I'm sure your girlfriend likes your empathy concerning girl stuff!
Your hair is absolutely adorable! ;)
You look so good with glasses on omg
I’m early for once!
Wouldnt it be easy to make like an implant that releases testosterone over time? Like how they have birth control implants that release over time?
Jamiiiie I hope this isn't creepy but you look really good in this video!
Hi. My friend had come out trans. (A boy in a female body). And I want to do everything to help and support him. I have some questions about surgery, binders and how to slowly get into it... I would love it if someone would give some advice. 😁
I would be open to some questions if you still have them, Also google and more specific trans orientated groups on instagram for example can answer a lot of your questions otherwise!
