I mean calling out his actions as wrong could also depend on whether you think someone must only commit good actions. He’s always done questionable things. Also if he doesn’t wipe them out, the Slane Theocracy is the one country that would likely retaliate if they are left to their own devices. Although wiping out the Slane Theocracy and rushing the story is likely a metaphor for how the author feels about the series too. It’s also an interesting possibility if Ainz if commits rash actions followed by possible reflection and regret in the finale
@@maliksmith5276 I mean he’s tired and fed up with it and wants to end it soon as possible since there has been issues around it with potentially Kadokawa and what not. He no longer really enjoys writing it
If he was following the golden rule which is do onto others as you want them to do unto you then yes he is in the wrong because he would not want anyone to do to Nazarick what he is doing to the rest of the world
@@rajvirmalhans2073 is that the people that release the anime? If so they need to hold their horses before they trample this story to death. I know the author said he'd end overlord on like volume 20. But no one wants a good story rushed.
Ainz is kind of like a parent who takes his crazy kids to the playground, laughs as they bully the other kids, but the moment one of those other kids so much as raises a finger in their own defense, Ainz whips out a gun and blows away not only the kid but also their parents and probably everyone else in the area for good measure. But meh, villain protagonist is gonna do villain things.
Nah, he isn't that bad in most cases. So long as you use the right kind of vocabulary(corporate speak), you might be able to get him to make his kids stop. The Slane Theocracy vs Ainz Ooal Gown, on the other hand, is basically Karen vs Skelly Karen, except Skelly Karen has a gun and Karen is missing a leg.
@@SuikaNine OMG you fuggin nailed it, but TBF for Karen over here, everything Karen stood for was due to how Karen was raised in a hostile environment, Skelly became a karen just because.
Actually in my opinion he's more of a neutral protagonist than a villain protagonist, he may do evil things but sometimes you can't say they don't deserve it.
@@AnonymousEnigma19 Guess its a mixed bag in those cases. The nobility of the kingdom kind of deserved what happened to them, though the peasants of the kingdom didn't deserve either to be ruled by a pack of morons, nor to get mascaraed in their homes like that. I sometimes wonder if the peasants could've risen up and overthrown the nobility. They certainly had the numbers, but the Crown and Nobles had Gazef. Though I'm not certain Gazef would've attacked peasants even on orders.
His love of the NPC’s of Nazarick trumps his tolerance for those who would harm them. Pretty much the only threat to Nazarick is World Items/Wild Magic, and Ainz now knows they posses atleast 1 World Item. That combined with the fact their are more lvl 80+ players in the nation able to possibly use them effectively, is reason enough to erase them. Plus they hate everyone not human
Pretty much, and it wouldn't even matter a damn to him that Shaltear attacked the BS first, self-defense or not, they harmed one of his children, so he's gonna absolutely waste their whole country. Really, the only best outcome would've been for the BS to let Shaltear slaughter them all back then.
Diplomatically, Nazarick could frame it as an assassination attempt on Ainz by the theocracy while he was in the elf kingdom, and they have the culprit on hand as well, as justification for a declaration of war, as for zesshi's fate, I believe she wanted to be dominated by a male that could beat her and mare did agree to help demiurge with breeding experiments, I'mma leave it at that, for me I just want to see Nazarick go on an all out war path for once against a somewhat capable force, although I can see it becoming a two front war with PDL joining in maybe getting to face the real Ainz this time
That's not Zesshi's real personality. We learn in Volume 16 that she doesn't actually care about breeding with a stronger male, and wanting to be defeated was nothing more than a lie.
@@geraldronalds6378but still, with the sorcerer kingdom having zeshi, a bastard daughter of the king of elven kingdom, they could use zeshi's pregnancy or child as a claim to the elven kingdom's throne and possible good excuse to wage war on the theocracy. Aura can also claim as the protector of the dark elves, which could suprise the dark elves, but i think they will find it welcoming and accept protection from the sorcerer kingdom, which also means the sorcerer kingdom could ask or demand the theocracy to give up grounds they'ved taken from the dark elves and the eleven kingdom...
@@ibrahimji5651 yes, basically. Regardless he was going to seek vengeance against the theocracy but the cruelty of it is the progression of his emotional dampening and allowing the NPCs to move him to accepting violence more and more over time.
Ainz is an undead and so is Shaltear. In addition to demihumans, the Slane Theocracy will immediately discriminate against him and just about the whole of Nazarick. Even if Shaltear had done nothing at all, the Theocracy would have eventually targeted her anyway once they heard about her. Her attacking them first only gave the Theocracy the moral high ground, but brainwashing her to attack her master and her friends, that was unnecessary. They could have simply contained Shaltear after defeating her. By brainwashing her, the Theocracy literally handed Ainz the justification to go after them.
They brainwashed her because they cant do anything about her because she's that strong for them, I doubt they can contain her as well lmao They used the world item for emergency
They didn't have time to give Shalltear any commands, and even if they did, Shalltear was obviously not put in a position to attack her allies, she was left by herself, she would do nothing if not attacked. Setting aside how nothing that happened to Shalltear was their fault, they clearly are still capable of revering "undead", just look at how the Black Scripture treats "Rufus".
what are you talking about brainwashing and attacking their friends lol the world item that slane gonna use is for the dragon but unfortunately slane encounter shaltear who is on rampage they had no choice but to use it on shaltear because they are being overpowered. So the activation of world item has been done successfully but shaltear killed the summoner who use the world item before the summoner can command shaltear so at the end shaltear revert back in to his NPC form since in the game if an NPC has been attacked that is the time they will fight back thats why ainz need to attack shaltear first so that he can talk with her with the consequence of fighting with her. Remember even slane thinks that their world item got waste because they use it on a ramdom vampire instead to the dragaon but little did they know if the summoner did not die before he can command shaltear they literally use their world item on the outmost way because shaltear is much much stronger to that dragon. To summarize the events it is all about misunderstanding on both sides stop dick riding on nazarick.
The Theocracy would never have targeted her if they heard about her. The Theocracy is not suicidal, and they do not go out of there way to piss off powerful beings on purpose. The Black Scripture HAD to mind control her, otherwise Shalltear would've killed them all. The BS never brainwashed her to attack her master and her friends, which they never even knew of in the first place, they did it in self defense. They couldn't have contained Shalltear in any other way.
The plan was to kill shalltear then resurrect her to wipe the brainwashing, so he already knew what had to do to get shalltear back, the problem was he had to do it in the first place, morality wise, I think we're way past the point of talking about good and evil with this story but to be fair compared to the slavery and poverty stricken kingdom and empire, the sorcerer's kingdom has the best quality of life in the new world even for new worlders so...
@@Addyboy0190 he wasn't sure that resurrection was still working when he killed her For an example his create undead works differently than in the game so there was a possibility that some other things had changed as well And even if she was resurrected he wasn't sure if it would remove the brainwashing
I'm pretty sure the trump card of the Slane Theocracy is Rufus, the Undead Player who is very likely the founder and true leader of the Slane Theocracy. Great video, loved a lot of what you had to say
Spoiler territory from Vol 15: There was a mention of some undead creatures at the end of chapter 15, talking about being subservient to "That one" which judging by the explanations and everything, it seemed like most of them had access to tier 8~9 magic. And they were not happy with how things were with their so called Leader. Back then, i didn't quite understand where they come from and who that leader is. But it seems like maybe the hidden Slane Theocracy undead is their leader and they are indeed under him. So theocracy looks to have a strong group of undead under them. In terms of new world standards. But obviously, Most of them are probably gonna be nothing in comparison to even a single lvl 100 of nazarick.
@@manip1980 Yeah, seems like Surshana left a few surprises. It's going to be interesting to see their reactions to each other, especially given how Ainz's subordinates take such offense at people claiming to be any sort of supreme undead (see Sebas and the "undead king" he killed in a second lol)
Because shaltear is like a daughter to him. Even she was in the wrong and attacked them first it doesnt matter. The feeling when he had to kill her and thought that he would have lost her forever was too much.
He is always a very sensitive annd passionate person. "AINZ" He cares so much for his friends and their creations that his action in this volumn wasnt out of his character at all if you actually understand who is "Ainz" in the first place. LOL
His life was nothing until he got to play this game and have some friends to play with. Actually this game was everthing to him so if you think he would be so calm and collected when he heard about country who hurt and made him killed his daughter then idk if you really read overlord.
And of course he is in the wrong side but this wasnt story about good guys in the first place if you want good guys who always in the right side you are reading wrong novel.
Even read all light novels and watch seasons of overlord this youtuber still not understand the most basic feeling ainz feels for his NPC. They are like family to him. Even if they are in the wrong side then what. And the feeling he thought he couldnt revive shaltear was too much for him at that time.
I wish maruyama would just stick to having a good pacing and not put himself on a deadline. He built a wonderful universe that many readers/anime watchers would want to explore further. Maybe he could like just make hiatus if he's really burnt out on writing all his overlord novels and could just go back to writing it once he has the motivation. It would be a waste if it turned out like GOT.
Yeah but i personally blame the published for it a bit too. From how the afterword is phrased at times Maruyama would probably prefer really long novels but the publisher pushes shorter books so he splits it into two.
tbh all we need to look at is Shalltear's creator is Peroroncino one of Ainz's closest friends in the guild given that alone him been angry cause its one of his closest friends creations got mindcontroled and he was forced to kill her now he knows who deared to touch her they dead only so much logical thinking before emotions finally come into play which tends to be how it is when it comes to family
Ainz is the villain-protagonist, so I'm not sure 'wrong' is the right word for it. It'd only be 'wrong' in his context if he did something against Nazarick.
From the beginning, Ainz didn’t saw people of new world as people. Like he said he see a bugs or small animals. And he has Lawful Evil affinity as character. After Re-Estiz destruction nothing really can make him look like goody two shoes. All what’s important for him - his friends, players, NPC they created and his tomb. And I believe that he said something like he’ll wipe out those who did this to Shaltear.(I can’t really remember where, maybe it’s my imagination)
I thought when reading, that she revealed the whole agressive-passive strategem the theocracy has been using this whole time alongside that they did the shalltear-thing. Ainz may have been frustrated since he was trying to make it look like it's a swell idea to be friendly towards him, and a really bad idea to not, and after all that effort, learning that the theocracy is still trying to fight them, making it all seem like a waste. But he could just be irrationally angry, I mean, same exact thing happened with Evileye and Entoma, just to a smaller scale. They fought a monster not knowing that it was associated with a stronger faction, but Ainz got angry to an illogical level, or he was just angry at himself for not being more careful and pushing that frustration at the unintentional "agressors"
Shalltear doesn't remember the incident. Remember, Ainz was the one who had to go and free her. After defeating her, he revived her only to find out nothing of what happened using only her memory. So, only using the information they are aware of, Ainz is in the right by all intent and purpose.
I remember Zesshi has a warped personality and she would gladly be impregnated by a male that could beat her and Mare did agree to help Demiurge in breeding experiments in a previous volume, I'mma leave it at that
@@Addyboy0190 From what I understand, that whole "I wanna lose to a strong guy and get pregnant" was just a false bit of bravado she was hiding behind because she in fact didn't want to have children and bring them into the sort of life she was leading, and since there was no body she knew of that could defeat her, it worked. The Slane higher ups wanted her to have strong children, so yeah, that bravado was just to avoid having to have kids. Seems like Zesshi just wanted a normal life and to be a good mother, but her circumstances would prevent that. So as it goes, she's gonna suffer horribly in Nazarick.
@@dreadrath Oh, huh. Well there goes the possibility of even a miniscule bit of enjoyment for her. Given her talent, heritage etc, she's probably quite an interesting test subject, so I think it's safe to say that her stay is going to be an extended one.
@@dreadrath Also consideering one of her skills is TGoALiD it makes sense, Mare was a "Strong guy" and even him needed a specific way out of that kind of attack.
For me I think eventhough there is like 1-2 volumes left it might have enough time for a diplomatic/calculated approach to taking over the Slane Theocracy. But him being angry is justifiable as well since everything he has done so far was flr the NPCs to grow and their happiness
I discovered overlord through the anime, and immediately began reading the light novels. Ainz seems to be slowly losing his humanity in the novels. I have long suspected that once nazarick discovered the slane theocracy's involvement with shaltears mind control, it would be bad. The later it happened, the worse it would be. Not at all suprised that Ainz will go full 'mongol' and eviscerate the theocracy.
Sadly, accelerating the series to a conclusion reminds me of what was done with the Game Of Thrones TV series. The author may be heading to the end he intended, but the series loses so much when it is accelerated and the character's personalities make big changes to justify the actions they take.
I don't know if that would happen here though. Game of thrones turned to shit because they had different writers who ham fisted what they wanted into it. This is the actual author
Btw when ainz called Albedo she hears him mad because of finding out about zeshi but albedo didn’t know n she thinks that he found out about her lil plan for the group she got for suppository finding the supreme beings since her sis the strongest npc in the tomb uk y she’s there so she gets hella nervous thinking he found out about her plan to most likely kill any supreme beings but she calms down because ainz tell her he’s not mad with her
It sounds like one of the most proper avenues available would be for Ainz to present an option to the Theocracy. Relay a message saying 'hey, we know it may have been in self-defense, but that wasn't cool. deliver the World Item to us, or we will will count that refusal as an act of war. this is your one chance.' While this might be one of most even-keeled options where Ainz considers the situation from both sides, I don't think that's likely to happen. When it comes to the residents of the Tomb, especially those created by guildmates, dangers invite a quick and total response. Factor in his in-game experience and familiarity with history from his native world about human supremacists (even ones that give lipservice but don't follow suit behind the scenes), and it seems more likely he will opt to wipe the Theocracy out. In any power structure there is probably going to be a time when those at the top make a decision for reasons other than the strict benefit of the organization: certain topics can even be places that trigger an illogical decision.
I think when it comes to dealing with the Theocracy, Ainz has to try to be level headed, as the alternative is just Spam the WCI that can nuke things into the place and call it a day
I think he never gets emotional. So whenever he does get emotion it turns into a out brust of emotions . And that makes him do very irrational things .
@@dl2839 not really. We haven't gotten introduce to the dragonic kingdom or city alliance states, minatour kingdom ect. If you read volume 16. They are heading to war with Theocracy meaning end game scenarios It's getting rush.
@@NicheXCC He doesn't anymore, he got burnt out. You gotta understand he didn't start this series because of some grand dream of becoming an author he even said he wanted to go back being a salaryman despite how much he complains through Ainz
He's got a new mission in life now. Even if she was never controlled the outcome would be the same. Quick win is Rods from God with the use of Gate to surprise with full use of the kinetic energy minus the Air resistance and use the Mirror for Targeting.
I want him to be super aggressive against Slane theocracy then, midway Riku shows up again and Ainz is forced to engage with him. Their battle ends up destroying the remainder of the Slane Theocracy and the final Arc is wrapped up with Nazarick going on a guild raid against Platinum Dragon Lord.
The Theocracy dresses itself up like some kind of benevolent religious organization, but we've seen the kinds of things they'll do to achieve their goals, like when the Sunlight Scripture was trying to start a war between the Kingdom and the Empire by slaughtering villages. They absolutely deserve it. I particularly want to see PDL get put in his place too lol.
Yes. By moral justification, Ainz is in the wrong to go full genocide on the Slane theocracy. Shalltear was going to kill/capture/torture them if the Black Scripture lost that encounter in the forest in accordance with her orders from Ainz. Subduing her was probably the best/nicest thing they could have done. But Ainz has a bit of a berserk button concerning his guild NPCs. Because he was forced to kill Shalltear, and encounter basically broke Shalltear for several volumes after, Ainz is going to inflict wildly disproportionate retribution.
the player of Momonga sees the NPCs as his children his family that were created by his family Ainz Ol Gown. when he was transfered to the new world that was hightened and deeply inbedded in him Shalltear in his eyes was a daughter and they stole his daughter and made him kill her and watch her die. with that context the only thing that had stopped him from laying waste to everyone was ironically the thing that made him a monster is undead nature/muted emotion. I'm not sure about you if I was in that position I would have snapped and all hope for the world with it, had I had that power so to have him become more serious shows what's left of his humanity.
I want to know more about Rufus, the 'secret undead' of the Theocracy. If he was a disciple of Surshana, I wonder how he'll react to Ainz. Hope for his sake he reacts positively.
I mean hasn't ains already said that at the end of the day he'll do everything to make his friends happy or friends children however you want to fraze it. I Definitely wouldn't say he's on the good side of the spectrum but he's easily understandable in his goals.
I think that Ainz will either destroy the ST or he will give it new direction and leadership. There are "Sympathizers" inside that would probably join him.
imo, Aizn has always in “the wrong”. he was never “good”. he plan the worker attack himself, and kill them for the attack. he attack the peaceful lizarman. he destroy an entire kingdom for the npc happiness. all his action are very emotional. the npc perceives them as calculated, but he always act on emotion. but in this case, he is more angry that he was unable to find out the culprit for so long when they were right under his nose, rather than the culprit themselves
Ainz probably knows that the Slain Theocracy might have 1 of the 20 world class items that can change the world. An example would be like a world item that can change how spells works in the world. So he pretty much have to invade them since they have weapons of mass destruction.
7:40 ainz had no idea if he could resurrect shalltear or not, he could have permanent killed her then. Ainz has no idea who was the aggressor. Shalltear was suddenly mind controlled during her mission to capture beings (strictly kept to people like outlaws) that are knowledgeable in martial arts. He thought it was a targeted attack on her
All you have to do, in order to determine if Ainz is in the wrong here is draw a parallel to Dracula in Castlevania. Most people would agree that Dracula was justified in slaughtering the people directly responsible for the death of his wife, but inflicting that punishment on the rest of Wallachia is an evil act. If Ainz were only punishing the decision makers and people who were directly involved in the Shalltear incident? Fine, at worst that's Neutral. But by spreading his vengance to thousands of people for the sins of a few dozen? Evil.
The difference is dracula cant revive his wife by his own means, Ainz can revive shalltear by a measly amount of gold. to say ºainz overeacted to shalltear incident isnt a understatement
It's an interesting series but I never felt any connection to the occupants of Nazarack(except for Sabalas). It's like watching fully tiered max level raid players of any mmo pick on lowbies. No challenge, no threat, so what's the point? Ainz can obviously crush anyone in this world.
Let's not over think it or over analyze. The way he is moving the storyline matches the way he is ending the light novels. Plus, I'll answer your question if Ainz was at the wrong? The only thing that Ainz cares about in the new world is Nazarick and a nation leader will always put his people or his interests first. To my conclusion, he reacted like he did because Shalltear is part of his family and he had to kill her. The other nation is nothing him and let the author get loose up and end it with big bang. P.s sorry for grammar or pronunciations English is my second language and still improving.
First, the creator video was nice and concise with his views. Second, I just answer his question on what people were talking about with facts within the novel that is reasonable Ainz will attack ruthlessly and the author wants finish with is fine. Third, I write long paragraphs to explain trying improve my writing skills and how explain my conclusion because its the internet of course. Fourth and last, the quote "not over think or over analyze" was not for the creator of the video but for the comments. Like for real what would you expect for an author thats over work and tired of his beloved series. He has to deal, on the anime rights profits margins aren't good, piracy, constant pressure on fans haters.
I get your point about him maybe being in the wrong but that depends on how you look at it. The fact is the slane theocracy isnt just a problem down the line they are a problem in general and have been since his encounter with the sunlight scripture. They gotta go regardless of his reasons.
They were npcs created by people he considered true family. What would the correct reaction to someone assaulting one of their creations? If they have zeshi and have gotten the information from the theocracy from her then ainz has even more reason to destroy them.
in my opinion ainz is angry not just because shaltear was brainwashed but i would say the main reason to why he is angry is because he was forced to kill shaltear and after that shaltear had to deal with the trauma of attacking ainz that is y he took major offence when he found out that the theocracy were the culprit and even if u look back the theocracy ever since they brainwashed shaltear ains wanted to have revenge and wipe the people that did that of course at that point of time he didnt know who it was but fining the culprit was a major motivation that he had every since the brainwashing incident
He´s angry because he had to take responsability, he had a 30% winning chance against Shalltear and didnt know if he was going to be ganged up when he arrived to fight her, for once one of his minions F´ed up their job and Ainz had to take direct accountability for it, Momonga will always think like a player, NPCS daring to hurt the children of the other players are scum to be tortured by him.
Obviously Ainz is not wrong, after all he is justice! But putting that aside, what does "being wrong" mean to you? The Theocracy was to blame for that incident, so Ainz's attitude is appropriate. After all, there is no such thing as "right" or "wrong" in the NW, Ainz has the power to do whatever he wants, simple as that.😐
No surprise Antilene lost, Fairy Tail has taught me to never believe in overhyped antagonist's/villains. She lost the moment she faces a member of Nazarick, disappointing but it was expected as per usual. At the very least I hope Antilene has a happier ending than most. There is a possibility that Ainz will see the memories from the conversation she had with the captain from Overlord II episode 1 about her marrying a man stronger than her an having a child with them, that Ainz will let her live and become Mare's wife. I can accept an ending where Antilene marries Mare and has a child with him.
i think from what i understood, in ainz's mind, it wasnt in the wrong or right in his mind, it was more of i need to deal with this situation to the level of the leader of Nazarick, the only right and wrong is nazarick being right and anyone outside is in the wrong. nazarick denizens thinks of outside life as worthless insects.
I think that pepple are too fixated about the Shalltear incident being the main reason Ainz decided to annihilate ST. It definitely is part of the reason but I think Mare is actually the main reason this time. After reading Zesshi's memories, he learned that she almost offed Mare with The Goal of All Life is Death, and he could have actually died there but stayed alive for some unexplained reasons. Furthermore, Mare was not the one initiating the conflict here, since 90% of the battle he just stood in one place countering Zesshi without going on the offensive, only did so because she was using a sure-kill instant death skill on him. I think most people would be angry too if their children got attacked unprovoked and almost offed by a complete stranger out of nowhere, further exacerbated by his PTSD about Shalltear.
Dude you did not pay attention when reading the Elf king battle then, the author pointed out (convieniently lol, though its probably mentioned volumes ago, just me nitpicking) that Druids like Elfking and Mare have a ressurection spell can save them in a pinch but with low hp afterwards, called Pheonix's flames. Ainz also then explained since Pheonix's flame is considered a ressurection spell it cancels out TGOALID.
just because the concept of players is a real thing in this world that would mean to me that those are actual people, hindering me from viewing anybody in this new world as real, so the audacity that a fake person would try to take out an NPC that a real friend of mine made... that would be enough for me if i was ainz. also being undead i wouldnt be sympathetic either
ik im just copium rn but i think that after a hiatus there has to be a overlord 2 and continue the story on world domination , no way 2 volume can cover that imo
Wick: “ It was Shalltear’s fault. But if I insult one of Ainz’ precious little snowflakes then I’m definitely dead. Does anyone else feel disappointed with the writers attitude towards his own story? He'd rather rush the story and end it quickly... That basically means the anime will be much lower quality and as a result less thought through. He's basically just rushing the anime (when he has no passion for it) and as a result it's going to be a terrible series. If he truly cared he'd quit writing it for a couple of years and release it later once he's regained interest or pass on the story to someone else. Why even watch the anime if he has no interest and just wants to finish it as soon as possible?
Slane Theocracy wants the best for humanity. Ainz isn't like Rimuru. He lost his humanity both in body and in mind. There is not "because I like humans" he only cares for Nazarick not humanity. _If_ he did care about humanity, he is in the wrong, but his priorities are elsewhere.
yeah, Ainz is wrong. They engage in battle with unknown enemy, they wasnt there to capture Shaltear. Saying so, determination to destroy them because they are dangerous is understandable, but the way he put it, like they challenged him and now they gonna pay... dumb
Also wereny Ainz´s goons trespassing on foreign territory in the firstplace? Shalltear was safe if she had remained in the bandit outpost and capture Brain Unglaus like she was supposed to, not only did she fail the capture, she let blood frenzy take a hold of her, jeopardize the mission by attacking a 3rd party, and then repeated the same after moving further away from the outpost without notifying Demiurge. It´s downright explained in the LN that the reasons why she was turned into a fennex girl after the incident was because Demiurge deemed her brainwashing to be due to incompetence and not much else, she had multiple instances where she could´ve reported to Nazarick but choose to keep doing the same thing over and over again.
I'm not mad that he wants to finish the story, I'm mad that only 15 and 16 were wasted in telling a story of Ainz bumbling around the elf village. No one needed pages and pages of ions nonsensical rambling, while he's trying to make the twins friends, completely ignoring the fact that they might not want any. Most of that story could have been done and three chapters and then you move on to the confrontation that the Elf King in his balance, and then the battle again says "Zeshi." hopefully, the Slane Theocracy battle will only take up 1 volume, because the final battle in the seires should be against the True Dragonlords.
In my opinion, the story should just be handed over to another writer if the original author has gone tired of it. Perhaps he should just make a summary of the major events, the let the next writer fill in the gaps/connect the dots. It's all up to him whether he would like to stay as some sort of "supervising director" for the story or not just to make sure that the story doesnt stray too far from how he wanted it to be. Overlord's world has a lot of potential. Much of the new world remains unexplored and many of its characters could adapt, develop and grow further with time.
I think Ainz has the right to be angry at himself for not being more careful. But unfortunately the Re-Estes kingdom was slain for less than that. So I would expect this from him. It’s not out of character or anything so that doesn’t make me too angry. I’m not exactly sure what a proper response to it would be. The slane theocracy is actively hostile to nazerick so I don’t feel like they would forgive them either way. They are both nations that are impossible to exist together. The slane theocracy hates the undead and thinks mankind is the chosen race and Nazerick is literally filled with undead so how long did you think that was going to work together? It doesn’t. Do I wish that Ainz played it out more strategically? Maybe. But still I do think that the two nations are completely incompatible.
I'm looking at this as an Asian. a parent will go to hell and back for their children. momonga/ainz treats the Npc as the child of the only family he had but had to leave (ainz oil gown guild meme ers) ainz being like this feels pretty normal for a parent knowing a neighbor did something wrong to their child. hell I won't be even surprised if some violence ensue here as child protective services and suing is not Soo common for lower to mid class citizen here in most asian countries. there is no god or evil for a parent. there is only live and protection for their child and screw anyone who hurts them.
I still think Rufus is a lvl 100 guild NPC. In vol 16 they kind of mentioned Zesshi being his disciple of sorts. I'm curious how strong he'd be. Also, Slaine Theocracy is depicted after Japan, so I'm kinda curious how they'd actually describe that place. Then there's the matter of namesake as well.
How is slane theocracy depicted like japan? Slane theocracy is more like the holy roman empire during the time that holy roman emperor is also the pope.they seems so holy and great but deep inside they are pure evil who just toy around people's lives for the personal ideologies and wills of the pope and the cardinals...
the slane theocracy already attacked Ainz with the sunlight scripture.... then theocracy albeit not aware who they are mind controlling but they know Shaltear was more powerful than the Dragonlord they are about to mind control was worth using the World item on her.. was the 2nd strike. 3rd strike is Zesshi attacking all out on mare without confirming who Mare is and then loosing, giving Nazarick all the info they need to make a cassus belli on the Theocracy either True of Falsified
The sunlight scripture was attacking the village that had nothing to do with ainz he inserted his hypocritical ass in that situation. 2. It was either put her under mind control or get killed by this crazy ass vampire charging at me with frenzied eyes. 3 Zesshi sensed that strong ass kid as they said, then to see him act all timid, and you would assume he is trying to decieve you.
@@redomnitrix6834 I'd agree with everything except for the fact Sunlight didn't attack any village, they were going to a village where the Catastrophy dragon lives i think, also even if Mare was trying to decieve her she still stupidly went on attack him even after confirming he's way out of her league, she died a stupid death is all im saying, seeing him trying to decieve her is not a good reason to fight.
@@madmantheepic7278 no they came to attack the village it was all a part of the plan to lure gazef there unprotected without his treasures to kill him. Idk where tf you heard that other thing from. This was arranged by the nobleman who wanted him gone.

@@Marvin-nh8dr Consideering how editors changed so much about what the original WN was about, I´m not surprised, Shalltear incident was peak overlord thanks to the editors, but ever since that, the author has been writting himself into a corner with how Ainz casually jobs any oponent he faces, PDL is like the only resistance that has more comparable level threat, no other players around either and the memes get stale after "Idiot Remedios" and "Genius Phillip"
I don't agree. Politically finessing every nation to take them over is interesting to a degree, but doing that for every nation can get repetitive. He's already got the Dwarven Kingdom, Baharuth Empire, Holy Kingdom, and Dragon Kingdom on his side through political machinations. Crushing the Theocracy through brute force is actually a good direction for the story to go.
@@dl2839 he literally said the story is going to end now. do you realize a lot of the characters are going to have a one liner end to their whole story. while crushing another kingdom could be good, abruptly ending this series in this manner cannot be. never got to see the dragon lords or why and how players even got into this world.
Technically the theocracy attacked first when they killed the familliars she sent after the ranger from britas party. Granted this represents exactly zero losses for Nazarick as they are summons. Also Shalltears mission was to collect individuals with martial arts for study which alot of the black scripture has. She had been somewhat snapped out of her bloodlust at the time she encountered them so there is a small chance (I say small because c'mon we're talking about Shalltear) that had they not used the world item she may have just subded them as she clearly held back against the captain. As far as the imminent destruction of the Theocracy goes it was always gonna be that way. Ainz destroyed Re-Ettiz for stealling some grain. The Theocracy mind controlled and then forced him to kill one of his best friends daughter. They will be lucky if he decides to be quick about it because their crime (even if they didn't know they were committing one) is several orders of magnitude worse. Ainz's treatment of 8 fingers shows he has never cared whether the guilty party was aware of their wrongdoing.
She deserved to have her familiars killed, she let Blood Frenzy dictate how her actions would play out with brute force and the Theocracy was forced to counter, She´s also lucky PDL didnt dispose of her permanently with wild magic, instead of Ainz averagely killing her
@@sebas8225 I wasn't suggesting the theocracy was in the wrong. But Nazarick doesn't use a morale paradigm like right/wrong or good/evil. If you harm Nazarick whether intentionally or not (even if you don't know what Nazarick is) you are guilty of an unforgivable sin in their eyes. I think you might be overestimating PDL's ability. He retreated from Shaltear because he couldn't win. Same reason he retreated from Albedo (who is weaker than Shaltear).
the elf kingdom arc was good but I think I'm not going to like the theocracy arc at all comparatively. he knows that no one is a real match for him so he goes full-throttle an takes over the world by force just like the 6 great gods and the 8 greed kings did before him? that is one boring way to end the other wise good light novel. it would be something if in volume 18 we found out that the six great gods and 8 greed kings body's where preserved. by the Platinum dragonlord for a worse case scenario witch is what we have hear. an at the end of volume 18 he revives all of them at once of course at that point it would turn to a story where Ainz was the main villain in would have to be called something else. because all of overlords characters would be fully fleshed out. something with overlord in it would be best but if I was to see an ending for overlord that would be it an it would make sense why he wants to burn through this versus taking it slow because Ainz is at the point where he starts to get careless and then he gets burned for it again. but this time a lot or some of Great Tomb of Nazarick whines up permanently dead along with some of the 6 great gods an most of the 8 greed kings and both of the guilds whined up destroyed so no npc Reviving without a body would become a thing. it could finish with a coalition of enemies turned out allies. the reason this mite be the case because platinum dragon lord is no fool an this would be the case for a last ditch contingency like that a hole guild full of very evil npc's with a player not keeping them on a tight leash. its just conjecture but there is more than enough reason for that to be the case it would make sense why platinum dragon lord wasn't going into full panic mode at the thought of a stronger player than him because he has some sort of contingency best left unused. it could just be wild magic but I don't think so because it would have to be complex and their wild magic as not gotten to that point. it looks like. rationally speaking this would be the next rational step as far as the overlord series goes. the funny thing is it is one of the only ways I see it going because we don't know why he was summoned to this world or the reason why every 200 years things monsters and or players from Yggdrassil appear in the new world. it makes no sense at the current point in time you could make a whole new light novel series just out of the plot holes. also why would he leave something that should be making really good money to work on something at mite get him Penneys the only answer is he's probably going on hiatus an leaving overlord with an open ending like this would make the most sense. something like platinum dragonlord reviving the players for a bull work against Nazarick in a make shift coalition would be a great an obvious open ending.
Is Ainz in the wrong!? When told "history will decide who's right" a very very smart man once said: "I don't care who thinks I'm right and I have enough reason to kill you" -Raiden.
He's mad that Shalltear was mind controlled, but Shalltear attacked them first. She literally went looking for them and sent her household after them. Ainz is ridiculous and I wish someone would come along and kick his ass.
They were literally at the wrong place at the wrong time. She didn't sick her household them she sent them after the groups ranger that ran back to town to get help. They just killed her household so of course she would find out what happened. It was literally a wrong place wrong time
Ainz' morality is warped by both his undead race and his love for Nazarick. He cares more about one of the NPCs than a thousand humans he never interacted with. A parent will naturally defend his or her child, even if the child has done something wrong. And Ainz views everyone from Nazarick as his children, and he will do anything to protect them and to destroy any threat to them.
The 15th novel was a complete waste and nothing happened in 16th until the later half and even then it was lacking. Sooooo much is left unanswered and unexplored and it saddens me cuz I loved this series.

It’s also an interesting possibility if Ainz if commits rash actions followed by possible reflection and regret in the finale
how does the author feels about the series.

I think the whole point of the story is Ainz’ growing strategical prowess but also his detachment from good and bad and forward thinking.
I would say he has a rocket launcher. In a world with no weapons. And does all that. Who's gonna stop him?
Nah, he isn't that bad in most cases. So long as you use the right kind of vocabulary(corporate speak), you might be able to get him to make his kids stop.
The Slane Theocracy vs Ainz Ooal Gown, on the other hand, is basically Karen vs Skelly Karen, except Skelly Karen has a gun and Karen is missing a leg.
@@SuikaNine OMG you fuggin nailed it, but TBF for Karen over here, everything Karen stood for was due to how Karen was raised in a hostile environment, Skelly became a karen just because.

Hadn’t the Slane done horrible things from the beginning , light senselessly slaughtering people of that village to get at one person ?
slane theocracy hypocritical and racist human nation towards other races.
I hope Ainz destroys the slane theocracy and builds a better utopian country
Diplomatically, Nazarick could frame it as an assassination attempt on Ainz by the theocracy while he was in the elf kingdom, and they have the culprit on hand as well, as justification for a declaration of war, as for zesshi's fate, I believe she wanted to be dominated by a male that could beat her and mare did agree to help demiurge with breeding experiments, I'mma leave it at that, for me I just want to see Nazarick go on an all out war path for once against a somewhat capable force, although I can see it becoming a two front war with PDL joining in maybe getting to face the real Ainz this time

@@franciscorafaelmontielpale7854 probably both ,knowing Demiurge.

So it's basically vengeance
They brainwashed her because they cant do anything about her because she's that strong for them, I doubt they can contain her as well lmao
They used the world item for emergency

Spoiler territory from Vol 15:
There was a mention of some undead creatures at the end of chapter 15, talking about being subservient to "That one" which judging by the explanations and everything, it seemed like most of them had access to tier 8~9 magic. And they were not happy with how things were with their so called Leader.
Back then, i didn't quite understand where they come from and who that leader is. But it seems like maybe the hidden Slane Theocracy undead is their leader and they are indeed under him.
Ainz is justice, his actions and choices are axiomatically correct.
Ainz is the villain-protagonist, so I'm not sure 'wrong' is the right word for it. It'd only be 'wrong' in his context if he did something against Nazarick.

If u watched the video I said he got the information from Zesshi.
Ainz was soo pissed, Albedo thought she was going to die on the spot.

The Slane higher ups wanted her to have strong children, so yeah, that bravado was just to avoid having to have kids. Ainz: The Super-Tier Spell, "Iä! Shub-Niggurath!"
Read another series, 9 books. Author got bored, and made the last book fast and light, disappointing millions. It happens.

I'm not sure about you if I was in that position I would have snapped and all hope for the world with it, had I had that power so to have him become more serious shows what's left of his humanity.

imo, Aizn has always in “the wrong”. he was never “good”. he plan the worker attack himself, and kill them for the attack. he attack the peaceful lizarman. he destroy an entire kingdom for the npc happiness. all his action are very emotional. the npc perceives them as calculated, but he always act on emotion.
but in this case, he is more angry that he was unable to find out the culprit for so long when they were right under his nose, rather than the culprit themselves
The whole series was made wrongly, it should´ve been about "grounded fights" not flexing spectacles.
"Let's not over think it or over analyze." But u just did, so he can't but you can because u don't like his views? Seems backwards if you ask me.
He had to kill Shaltear Ainz is understanding but if you hurt "the children" he Will go balistic on you
They were npcs created by people he considered true family.
Mare used Flames of the Phoenix which revives upon death that's why The Goal of All Life is Death didn't work
@@moona2452 Druid Build > TGoALiD
Dude you did not pay attention when reading the Elf king battle then, the author pointed out (convieniently lol, though its probably mentioned volumes ago, just me nitpicking) that Druids like Elfking and Mare have a ressurection spell can save them in a pinch but with low hp afterwards, called Pheonix's flames. Ainz also then explained since Pheonix's flame is considered a ressurection spell it cancels out TGOALID.
I think ainz will use zesshi as a excuse for the war with slane theocracy
100%
He should use her *against* them. That would be amusing.
Revenge is a dish best served cold 😈
just because the concept of players is a real thing in this world that would mean to me that those are actual people, hindering me from viewing anybody in this new world as real, so the audacity that a fake person would try to take out an NPC that a real friend of mine made... that would be enough for me if i was ainz. also being undead i wouldnt be sympathetic either
ik im just copium rn
but i think that after a hiatus there has to be a overlord 2
and continue the story on world domination , no way 2 volume can cover that imo
I like ur copium

How I see it Ainz has been able to bull sh💩t his pay and convince himself he’s right. Other wise why would he tell the guardians to cover their ears during the invaders arc? Ah you wouldn’t get it. AlThough the Theocracy also deserves it too… the sunlight scripture did attack Carne and other villages slaughtering fellow man. Though when it comes to our loved ones we have biases to be with them. It’s just human, y’know? You know. I know, you know…
But seeing how dark this series can get, do you really think a happy ending would be enough? Would the other supreme beings recognize Momonga or would they see the sorcerer king-“

I love your videos keep it up
I'm not mad that he wants to finish the story, I'm mad that only 15 and 16 were wasted in telling a story of Ainz bumbling around the elf village.
Nice video! Thanks sharing!
There is also others. Read between the lines.
I'm looking at this as an Asian. a parent will go to hell and back for their children.
momonga/ainz treats the Npc as the child of the only family he had but had to leave (ainz oil gown guild meme ers)
ainz being like this feels pretty normal for a parent knowing a neighbor did something wrong to their child.
hell I won't be even surprised if some violence ensue here as child protective services and suing is not Soo common for lower to mid class citizen here in most asian countries.
there is no god or evil for a parent. there is only live and protection for their child and screw anyone who hurts them.
This is the best comment I feel I have read so far in defense of ainz acting!
I doubt he is level 100
Kalau dia berlevel 100 dia akan kalah ditangan nazarick
I don't think the writer is going fast ..I think ainz is losing his humanity...like at this point he became a literal undead so killing a bunch is nothing for him ...I think he will attack .
The writer want the LN to end pretty quick, he is fed up with it
@@Marvin-nh8dr Consideering how editors changed so much about what the original WN was about, I´m not surprised, Shalltear incident was peak overlord thanks to the editors, but ever since that, the author has been writting himself into a corner with how Ainz casually jobs any oponent he faces, PDL is like the only resistance that has more comparable level threat, no other players around either and the memes get stale after "Idiot Remedios" and "Genius Phillip"
I'd say it's too late to be as mad as he his now, he had a better reason for the previous war

Super happy you read the title were it said "Theory" in it.....
What is going too happen with zeeshi?
Basically after watching the anime the ST is right about what they believe

Yes Ainz he can be mad the Slane Theocracy hart his Family
Lord ainz is never wrong
I love the political game aspect, and miss them
Ainz is the not wrong.
Like you forget this man is evil 😂
Been evil has nothing to do with the topic. You can be evil and also have common sense and logical thinking you know!
whether or not ainz was in the wrong, i believe we can all agree that the author is in the wrong for wrapping things up this way
I don't agree.
Espiritu santo amen
The author is rushing it pretty much.
Of course he is in the wrong...
I don't get why that even stands in question. :/
I just hope the 6 great god have a guild base there. It reacting to ainz raid would be fun. Guild npc vs guild npc.
Is Ainz in the wrong!?

Ainz' morality is warped by both his undead race and his love for Nazarick. He cares more about one of the NPCs than a thousand humans he never interacted with.
