      Καλησπέρα!
      The costs listed in this video are just for the ship without any weapons systems and of course without their payload (missiles).
      The ships are configured based on the needs of the client navy.
      The Hellenic Navy's needs are for heavily armed ships able to withstand saturation attacks. Add to that extra missiles (for exercises, also you have to be able to reload them at least twice) and follow on support (FOS) and it easily doubles the price of the warship.
      In some cases if R&D is needed for a ship to meet specs, this can make the cost skyrocket! See the Belh@ra Hellenique version of Frances new FDI (about 750ml per ship) 3.6bln for 2 ships!

    • @mihai2526
      @mihai2526 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Anzac class was built starting in the 90s, 8 for aus, 2 for nz. Both countries are doing mid life upgrades now, i think aus is almost done all their ships, and nz is doing both ships at same time almost. The capabilities are vastly superior to what they had when they entered service. Aus Anzac ship was first to have evolved sea sparrows in the world, and Nz ships will be the first to have Sea scepter missiles in the world, even before type26. Both have extremely capable combat systems now, and aus has harpoon, while nz chose not to buy it. Both will have phased array radars, along with new torpedoes, self defense stuff, and whole bunch of other stuff. If adding price of upgrade, think they would be on this list, somewhere around #7-10.

      @maxbooth8738 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Matthew Russell The T31s are pretty good value for money. My only problem would be that they are fairly under armed. If they were to be fitted with anti-ship missions and 16 Mk41 VLS quad packed with Sea Ceptor then that would be a much more potent weapon for a small amount more. It would also increase interoperability with the T26’s

    F-123 and F-124 frigates are very good ships. The most useless german frigate-class is the F-125-class.

    • @Exodon2020
      @Exodon2020 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not useless. During her conception phase the main task of the German navy was Anti-Piracy and Embargo Enforcement Missions and with her incredible Mission Endurance the F125-class is perfectly suited for these kinds of missions, leaving the more sophisticated F123 and F124 class room to return to their traditional roles.
      Also the upcoming F126 is going to be anything but a pushover.

    Some of these Frigates available for £250/300m each and I think we're paying nearly half of that for EACH F35 Lightning Jets!. Would prefer they spent more on new frigates and destroyers for the Royal Navy and got rid of one of the new carriers. Could maybe protect the remaining carrier properly and equip it with full compliment of Jets,destroyers and frigates instead?

  • @markbrisec3972
    @markbrisec3972 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I think the future of US Navy lies in the High-low mix of destroyers and frigates. Frigates are flexible enough and have required space for VLS tubes as well as ground braking scalable Enterprise radar made by Raytheon. Also the new Constellation class frigates are affordable enough to be bought in large numbers.
    On the other side of the scale stands the Future Large surface combatant, replacement for the Burke class destroyers and Ticonderoga class cruisers. These ships will have to be in the 15 000 tonne range to be able to accommodate next generation of power hungry radars, new and larger VLS tubes able to house a plethora of hypersonic weapons, and finally a lot of power generating capability for the rail guns and lasers. These ships will be extremely expensive so I predict up to 30 units produced. Some to accompany carrier strike groups while others will roam free and solo in search of an enemy.

      LOL! If a frigate is designated a frigate... it's a frigate - whatever capability it has! And, considering one of the main purposes of naval helicopters is ASW, having two onboard makes them even more of a frigate! Besides that, the essential difference these days is in both their displacement and their cost... not whether it carries one or two helo's. 🤣

    If it can blown up the enemy quickly into many small pieces and packed with plenty of fire power , expensive or cheap won't matter, our navy can afford that, spending $$ is no big deal. .
