The Indonesian navy is undergoing a major modernization. The latest program is the procurement of 2 Scorpene Evolved Submarines from France, 2 PPA Paolo Thaon in the Italian Revel Class and 2 red and white frigates, it is just the beginning of efforts to modernize the navy for the next five years. For now, the Indonesian naval chief is still looking for warships or submarines to fulfill domestic needs. I hope ASEAN unites and quickly modernizes its navy to counter China's hegemony in the South China Sea and I hope ASEAN can repel China in international waters claimed unilaterally by China in violation of the 1982 UNCLOS agreement!

Yes, Indonesian REM based on SIGMA design with electric propulsion making it hard to detect, and powerfull radar.. can’t wait until OPV Thaon de revel class coming in this year and frigate merah putih based on Arrowhead 140 frigate launch in 2026.

I'm Indonesian, Martadinata-class Sigma Frigate is not the most powerful in SEA. It is Singaporean Formidable-class Frigate with advance AESA radar and Aster 15/30 that have longer range than Indonesian frigate have.
And Vietnamese Gepard-class frigate should not in the top 3. In Ukraine war, Gepard-class was proven could not do anything (useless) to protect Russian fleets against the Ukrainian Navy who even don't have any warships.
The top 3 list should be:
1. Formidable-class frigate 🇸🇬
2. Martadinata-class frigate 🇮🇩
3. Bhumibol Adulyadej-class frigate 🇹🇭
Facts. They have the most powerful radar and are the only frigates to posses area air defence capability. The frigates air defence capability is unmatched, most frigates inn South East Asia only have medium range missles such as VL-MICA or Evolved sea sparrow.

Malvar Class Corvette Most Powerful in Asian
BRP malvar class are not in service as of now. so he is still a shadow. but when malvar class arrive in Philippines and decommission it can boost their capabilitl. BRP malvar is more powerful than jose rizal class. 3200 tons displacement
