@@staceyevans2315 My response is very late but I wanted to say: Having separate feeders and choosing what you put in them can ensure blue jays don't bother smaller birds. It's really only an issue if you let it be one. There are bird feeders on the market that are made specifically for small varieties of birds, usually with adjustable tops so you can adjust it downward so only the smaller birds will fit in. This can be made by hand too! There are methods to keep all the different birds happy at once 😊Blue Jays tend to be territorial with other birds but they are otherwise very sweet and intelligent birds. They also have very strong bonds with one another 😊
@@drunkenhighlord3198 Blue Jays actually do help other birds, in directly, of course. They chase off bigger birds, cats and other predators that are also dangerous to smaller birds as well. And they too are bullied by bigger birds like morning doves, cardinals and crows.

The complex mechanism works behind the business in a nutshell when the reality reflects only its own miseries backfired to themselves again 😆 I hung them in a high urn when they started to peck themselves again so painfully desiring the sweet in a big picture the granny didn't allow in her back gardens.
I don't think that's a normal blue jay dancing at the end. The heads all wrong. Normal blue jay's have a blue mohawk on their head. This bird has black going from the back of its head to to tip of its beak with no blue mohawk.

I love that the blue jay comes back and is clearly looking for that peanut. “What?! I was going to give it another try ...”
The blue jay that took off with a nut flew up into the tree on the top left of the screen. At 0:46 another blue jay comes swooping in from the left and disappears from view. It is probably the same one that appears a few seconds after the chipmunk leaves.
The one that took off earlier is still in the tree until a couple of seconds after the second one arrives.
The jay's reaction to that one peanut being pilfered was hilarious! 🤣🤣🤨

Thanks! This was filmed with a Polaroid action cam - sort of like a GoPro - advantage it is in focus from close to far.

I have the polaroid action cam as well. it's been awesome and so much cheaper than any others. mine is completely waterproof as well, I use it while fishing.

Just a little back story - the screw is for attaching corn cobs for the critters to eat - I covered it up with a peanut for protection while I got another corn cob - didn't expect the little ones to be so fascinated by it so soon - always amazing animals! BTW the clip was recorded in real time and is unedited so there are a few seconds of waiting for the Chipmunk to appear I think a lot of thumbs down and complaints are people bailing too soon - I know two minutes is a long time to watch :-). This was recorded in real life - real time. The Blue Jay is just off camera watching you can see him flutter by as the chipmunk starts to turn. To those who say the amazing Chipmunk didn't rotate the nut to the right three times and then rotate to the left twice - all I can say is your not watching close enough - .

MyBackyardBirding the chipmunk didn't unscrew the nut. it broke it off. not genius. if the critter hadn't done it first the bird would have ended up breaking the nut off as well. would've just taken more time.
The Chipmunk clearly rotated the nut - first twice the wrong way tightening it and then twice the right way loosening it - it did break after the fourth turn - the chipmunk rotates his head around the screw - give the little guy his props. The easiest thing would have been to just bite the top off the nut but this is a fastidious chipmunk!
And then moronically left the nutiilicious part behind. Then the bird comes back and pecks at the rest of the nut but goes nah, and flies away.
That was just a bit of shell that broke off. That's why the Jay took one peck at it and rejected it.

I remember this one time at my old house me and my friends had an outdoor pizza party and left the plates outside on the table. The next morning there were two Bluejays eating the crust! It was amazing.
