Aurora College, NSW’s first virtual school, commenced classes in February 2015. Aurora aims to provide innovative and flexible learning in a whole new context, by allowing students to connect locally and to learn globally. Aurora offers a mix of online and residential school classes to gifted and talented students from rural and remote communities across NSW. The college also gives Stage 6 students the opportunity to study a range of challenging subjects that are not available in their ‘home school’. Students connect with their teachers and classmates in timetabled lessons through a cutting-edge virtual learning environment. Aurora also provides Stage 6 students with the opportunity to study a range of challenging subjects that are not available in their ‘home school’. The Masterclass and Mentor programs emphasise to our students the relevance and importance of the curriculum in a wide range of human endeavours. In forming productive working partnerships with businesses and with scientific, cultural and tertiary education institutions, Aurora boasts a hallmark program which is broadening the post-school choices and opportunities of our students by providing real insights into the professional lives of individuals who are leaders in their fields.
