    I put all my alocasias in water before pon, they root great in water. Plus all the gross roots will shed easy in the water and you won’t have to pick them out of the pon. I use water as a transition phase even if I’m not going into semi hydro now, they’re just so much stronger that way

      Yup the bigger one has been moved because it started to yellow lol the smaller one is doing good so far 🤞🏽🌱

    I also learned the hard way that fluval is only good short-term it will turn to muck and be so thick it'll just strangle the plants and I also learned with my allocasias smaller pots are better let them really overfill their pots with roots before you go too big because the roots will just melt just in my experience what I've experienced just thought I would share

    • @aprilbrooks
      @aprilbrooks  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes that’s what’s happening to the bigger one I transferred in this video, I’m gonna move it to water today and see how it goes! 🤞🏽

    • @wendib6028
      @wendib6028 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@aprilbrooks Even if the roots have already melted off and your stub is still really solid don't worry still put it in water it will grow roots back I've done it to two of them that this happened to then once it grew some good water roots I put it into my pon. But again I'm going with very small pots just barely bigger than the amount of roots they got until they really start growing roots then maybe upsize just slightly In my experience I found even too much of the pon Will still rot their roots. Now after 6 months I'm finally having good success with all of my alocasia and I have six of them. 🤞

    For floppy Alocasias I just place a rock on whatever side it keeps tilting to, I also hate the stakes in wet soil or pon

    Hi April! That is a gorgeous plant! One thing I do with mine in pon is to only give bottled water (unless you have a brita filter or something like it). This plant and ferns hate chlorine and other chemicals added to treat water. One of my alocasias resurrected in pon 4 months after I thought it was dead 😂 . It is still small, but alive and beautiful. I am thinking it is time to repot to a bigger container. Hope yours do well. Disclaimer. I told the plant that if she did not do well in pon I would throw her in the trash. I win 😃

    I use Fluval Stratum, i will cut most of the soil roots off (ill leave maybe 1-1.5". I use a 2 cup method where i cut holes in the inner cup, plant in the stratum, then keep some water with CloneX. I leave it in for 2-3 weeks, when i see new roots ill pot in pon. Has worked for my dragon scale, variegated dragon scale and just moved my variegated silver dragon and wentii today.

    I believe that's a sinuata quilted dream not a dragon scale. But all of my alocasias did great except for I had to put them in water first so I cleaned off all the soil put them in water for a couple of weeks and let them get rid of any roots they wanted and start growing water roots then when I went into the pon it was perfect.

    Probably you've got the tip before. I put my alocasia's for a week or 2 in water and than transfer it into semi hydro i didn't lose one alocasia doing it this way. If you see after a few days, the roots are rotting or the leaves, then you know it won't be doing well in semi hydro. The water i put them in contains super thrive and formulex. Love and like your video's a lot. Grtz from Belgium 🤩

    Hi it’s a quilted dreams not dragon scale :) I mix Fluval with pon and never a problem transferring and I have 80 alocasia lol :) you problem could be your pots are way too big and holding too much moisture which as you know causes it to rot off :(
