Thank you so much just for acknowledging and showing care for the disabled. I have several autoimmune diseases. I have bad hand days and good ones. I was going to leave a comment saying something similar, but you've said it better. Pain/mobility issues & vision difficulties really make getting dressed, bathing, doing my hair & makeup very frustrating & time consuming. Some days I just don't bother because it's too exhausting. I really appreciate Emily recognizing that many women of a certain age still want to wear makeup but may be encountering certain limitations such as poor eyesight & arthritic hands. Disability isn't mentioned often in the Beauty Community & don"t get me started on chronic illness/invisible disabilities being ignored in general.

Valerie Palkovic that’s one thing I think she does in every tutorial or video she does, trying to show other uses for a product or palette so we don’t have to have 900 things to achieve a look. Most of us don’t have a small Sephora, nor want one, so she’s great about telling us what products we can get much use from. (I feel for her always having to stay on top of new stuff she’s been sent and keeping it organized so she can do videos on them for us, lol.)

It means so much that you think about disabilities and how it relates to beauty. Thanks for doing an accessible/disability friendly tutorial. There’s a huge number of people in the makeup community who have disabilities.
Also-a very goofproof brow product-essence brow pomade! It gives you nice bold but not too bold brows with barely any effort, and you know you can’t really mess it up!
My easy to apply foundations-physicians formula healthy foundation, it cosmetics cc cream. I just put them on with my fingers most of the time!
Easy blush and bronzer duo-elf aqua blush and bronzer duo, so incredibly beautiful creamy finish, so easy to blend out. I think the butter bronzer also would work like the butter blush. Highlight-the essence pure nude highlight!! So pretty and natural!

I am disabled but it doesn't affect makeup application but it could and I never thought about how difficult doing day to day tasks could be until I became disabled. This video demonstrates exactly why you are so different from every other beauty TH-camr. I am a psychology professor at a community college and I also work in the students with disabilities program. I have never heard a TH-camr discuss the varying degrees of abilities that we have as human beings. And, I have never heard anyone directly say that they want to speak specifically to people who may have issues with level of experience, mobility, vision, etc. Ignoring the fact that not everyone has the same approach to learning, or is not abled in the same way as other people, is a problem I see everyday and everywhere in society. I was so touched and pleased to watch this video because it showed me that you are an empathic and tender person, as well as knowledge about makeup. Thank you 😊💕

I am nearly 60 , I have severe arthritis. I am still a woman, I still want to feel pretty. For me, I wear makeup just for myself. For that little bit of joy it gives me to still feel feminine. My hands have begun to shake in recent years. Not terribly, but the tremors are enough that blending for me at times is difficult, and my elbows ache which one wouldn't think it makes a difference here. Ohhh have I found that to be not so. If I have to try and blend and blend , for me the elbow pain is so real !.
    I loved this video !!!!

@@MrAshtonone thank you so much for that smile you just gave me! My heart , thoughts, and prayers for your mother. She sounds like a lovely woman indeed. Life can be very difficult to maneuver the smallest of things when a physical disability seems to try to take every single joy left in daily life. Something small , like this..the ability to be strong enough to push through day to day and then not be able to continue on with our beauty routines, it really for me was frustrating and very sad. I hope your Mom gets as much hope and joy in having the small things in our day that are now more difficult , made a lot easier ♥️🙏 Much love to you both 😃

Now that my skin is finally clear, I'm able to use hardly any makeup. At 44 years old, that's a miracle to me. This morning, I did my normal skincare routine and then went in the bathroom, swiped on a couple stripes of the Bare Minerals Rescue Complexion stick and rubbed it in with my hands...MY HANDS. My skin looked good. I popped on some Colourpop cream blush sticks and then threw on the Benefit brown mascara primer. I'm very fair so on a holiday, I don't want black mascara...it just looks too intense. The brown primer/mascara from Benefit makes my eyelashes show up but not overpower everything else. I'm so happy my skin is clear. It's been a 3 years struggle.

Thank your for addressing the accessibility of the products!
If you prefer liquid foundation (or have more oily skin), Dior Backstage is one of the easiest to work with. Not the easiest perhaps to get out of the bottle (it's a liquid without a pump, just a tiny tube opening) but once you have it on your face it blends like a dream. Also, if you miss a spot it won't be as noticeable, because it has medium coverage and it doesn't make harsh lines of where the product has been put on and where it hasn't (which most higher coverage or thicker formula foundation would do). If you have bad lighting or eye-sight impairment this may be a good option for you.
As for mascara, I would also add: pick dryer formula over the more liquid ones. They are way less messy around and not as easy to accidentally put all over your eyelids. A good one is Collistar Volume Unico.
I would also recommend bronzing blushes from Artdeco. They are quite pigmented but easy to blend, and with one swipe on the product and then buff on your cheeks you get a beautiful sun-kissed result (and you can skip putting bronzer, blush and highlighter separately - or just add some stronger highlight only).
Finally, I would also mention packaging and how easy it is to open. For example, cardboard palettes with magnetic closing would be easy to open (e.g. ABH or Zoeva palettes) compared to plastic or metal with clasps (e.g. Two Faced). Loose powder has also the problem of a jar than needs to be twisted to open (which may not be easy for people relying on one hand or people with e.g. arthritis) so pressed powders have another advantage over them. This also disqualifies many concealers in jars.

    • @MrAshtonone
      @MrAshtonone 5 ปีที่แล้ว

@berlineczka - another good one I recently found that is not a stick but easy to apply with fingers is the CC cream from Chanel. It is in a tube with a twist off cap, but the product comes out easily, a little goes a long way, and it blends out so well with just your fingers. Very little pressure is needed to get the product out. The finish is beautiful.

I recently bought Matte About Town & love ❤️ that little palette. The old version of Too Faced Natural Eyes is always in my Go Bag - I can almost use it without looking. Another suggestion for face coverage is a tinted SPF like Australian Gold with Mineral Foundation over top. It’s fast & easy. I have texture to cover & have had great luck with Physicians Formula pressed. PUR pressed is foolproof & buildable also. Neither has too much radiance, nor do they look flat. TY Emily for this wonderful video. YES to some vids of face/eye all-in-one palettes!!

I never thought about the shape of the lipstick tube but you are 100% correct. Living in a hot area of the country I have thrown out more than one tube due to breakage. I have been in love with the Milani Prep Set & Glow for over a year. You’re honestly the only person I’ve ever seen mention it in a makeup video. Everyone who doesn’t want matte NEEDS it!

Thanks! Along the same lines, here's another challenge for you. How about people who are homebound so need to do all their makeup, haircare, and skincare shopping by mail...so can't see products in person before plunking down their $. Consider colors, any shades and textures that are more universal than others, return policies, shipping costs, types of products, etc.

As someone who has rheumatoid arthritis that isn’t that well-controlled yet, I want to thank you. How absolutely lovely of you to think of people like me with mobility and strength issues who would still like to look and feel nice sometimes. Really Emily, you are an angel and I hope you realise how much it means that you care about us xxx

I’m sure you hear this A LOT, but I have to say, I love how passionate you are about everything you talk about. You can just tell that you truly enjoy everything you talk about. And that you enjoy helping anyone and everyone that you can. I can’t say I watch any other TH-camrs that are this passionate about what they do. In every video!

I don't struggle with any physical disabilities but I'm so here for this acknowledgement of people who are challenged with mobility and vision. I remember a user on reddit once asking for makeup that would be easy to put on because it takes so much energy for them to do their makeup but they love doing it and don't wanna give it up.
We have no choice but to continue to stan.

Essence Lash Princess (the purple one) is also great. The brush is easy, shaped to your eye for quick application and will curl your lashes for you, as well as last all day.

You were one of the very first, if not THE first (it was a long time ago!) youtubers whom I watched to learn about makeup and skin care. Being the youngest of 5 daughters, my mom never really taught me about makeup. She probably thought I would learn by diffusion from my older sisters! (and she wasn't wrong), but where I picked up tips from them here and there, I truly learned to love makeup from you. I haven't watched your videos as diligently as I used to, as I discovered that youtube had unknowingly unsubscribed me from your channel a while ago, but I now happily a subscriber again. I felt like sharing a bit of the positive impact that you have had on my life, and encourage you to keep up the amazing work. Your joy and passion are contagious! God bless!

Emily I just want to thank you for posting this. I’ve recently lost a good amount of weight and started treating my anxiety (with my doctors help). Thanks to these changes, I started to take an interest in my appearance. I’m almost 45, and have been blind in my left eye since infancy. I was never really in to makeup, mostly because it was very hard for me to cope with eye products. Thanks to your tips, I’m finally developing some small skill, and now I can at least make my eyes look like sisters, rather than completely unrelated!
Thank you so much for the practical, helpful advice! ❤️❤️❤️

No one ever thinks about discussing the difficulties that the disabled have in using makeup. I became disabled in 2015. I have good days, but lately, I have more days when I just can't get dressed, much less use makeup. I also have malasma. It's so frustrating to be ignored by the beauty community who seems to be following the more is more Instagram makeup, and it's so rare that I could even attempt that. Thank you for acknowledging us people with disabilities.

Hi Emily (and everyone). Thank you so much for this video. As with other followers, I have two forms of autoimmune arthritis and some days getting out of bed takes 30 minutes never mind make-up. I have paid attention to your prior "easy" and "ease of use" videos. I use complexion rescue - and it blends really well with fingers if I can't use a brush. A lot of your and @ElleLearyArtistry tips and tricks have been invaluable. Autoimmune disease is something that can't be seen so it's helpful, for me anyway, to have ease in putting my best foot forward. If I look good, I tend to feel better.

Emily, as someone with a progressive degenerative neuromuscular disease, very similar to ALS, I can't tell you how much I love you for including content like this. I used to be such a makeup queen, Rouge at Sephora year after year, etc etc, and then as my disease got worse and I'm nearing quadriplegia, part of what I grieve is getting to play with makeup and be creative as I just don't have the strength anymore. Thank you so much for thinking of us and being inclusive.
