"How are they so cheap?" Because expensive brands are over-charging you. It's genuinely that simple. It's not the packaging - affordable brands often have creative packaging. (Consider BH and Revolution.) It's not the research and development. (Consider ELF, cruelty free and vegan from day one.) It's not the pigment. (ColourPop.) To some degree it's advertising, but given how hard BH went after my business, it's not everything. And I don't want to pay for their advertising. And while he makes fine makeup, I also don't want to pay for Jeffree's fourth Italian sportscar. Those brands, with very few exceptions, are charging you more because it creates the illusion that you're getting more. Everybody talks about how it feels good to pay less, but the unsaid reality is that it also feels good to overpay - it makes you feel high status and gives you an illusion of greater quality, whether it is or not.
La Draco 10% of what you pay is what it costs, BeautyPie has talked about this on their site. It’s still hard some items when they are so cleverly marketed 😆
I love Profusion. They will always have my business. I put in an order yesterday morning and few hours later they posted a 20%off sale. I made a comment on their IG page that I missed it. The price and quality is unbeatable. Also from L'Oreal, the Infallible Paints Metallics in Rose Chrome and Brass Knuckles can hold their own to any similar shade from a high end brand. The pigment and staying power is fantastic. I love that I don't need a brush to apply; a fingertip works just as well. Lastly, today's Em-ism is also a life philosophy..."It's what's on the inside that counts Y'all." Yup. Doesn't matter how well you can apply your makeup. If you don't have beauty on the inside to back it up, you're just another painted face. Thanks for being so much more than the makeup.
I really do appreciate that no matter how long you've been doing YT, or how big your channel gets, you never seem to lose your excitement over any type makeup, but especially affordable makeup! I do enjoy a lot of high end product lines, but I still find myself searching drugstore brands for hidden gems all the time, and I'm so happy that there are still makeup channels, like yours, that will devote time and enthusiasm to these products! Please make more videos like this, make it a series!! I was sooooo close to buying the elf primer infused blush recently but decided to buy the cream blush instead that’s in a little pot. I did buy the primer infused bronzer though and am excited to try. Andrea Matilano convinced me to try it. I also have too many highlighters but I got a Huda beauty highlighting palette in my recent Ipsy glam bag plus that I 100% don’t need so Im just gonna give it away in the unboxing. I keep adding to my Ulta favorites list so I'll try them later. I added the concealer Emily mentioned here. I love the Tarte Creaseless concealer but not the price tag. The Pacifica is about half the price of the Tarte.
I keep having to PARE DOWN my Ulta favorites list...it ONLY holds 1,000 items! Derp! 🤦 I use it as a wishlist really and when it gets too full I go thru and mark only 1 of each item that I'm interested in, instead of every color. Now I'm going to have to make a separate list for all the individual colors/formulas/etc. Thank goodness for list-making apps!

The essence highlighter reminds me of something hourglass would put out! and the l’oréal freshwear foundation seems top notch as well! AND the Milani lipglosses are something that would seem to come out of becca or dior
I have to agree about Milani! Most every product I've tried from them has felt luxe. I also like the L'oréal fresh wear foundation I just can't find my perfect shade.

As a mature watcher I am enjoying the Collab concealer in 101 for my under eyes. Not drying or showing any fine lines. I also love the PF butter bronzer and blush. Good for the skin and I do not look like a teenager. Very natural. I have been using the CYO foundation and it is beautiful. Lightweight and applies nicely in this Miami heat. Also the Revolution flick eyeliner pen recommended by you. Still trying to master a small wing but I am getting there. And of course my Revolution palettes by Emily Noel. I have bought so many different lipsticks, but I always go back to my favorite - Revlon, my two current favorites are 535 rum raisin and 637 blushing nude. I read how Audrey Hepburn used shade 415 pink in the afternoon. You look beautiful as always Emily. Thank you for the awesome video.🌹
The Milani Color Statement lipsticks are my favorite, especially Matte Naked. It’s a gorgeous, comfortable and easy to wear no-fuss formula, the perfect shade for me, wears most of the day, and has beautiful packaging to boot. I recommend that line and that particular lipstick to everyone!

Hi Emily, When I was in high school in the 1970's Revlon Super Lustrous Lipsticks were sold in department stores. I bought my first one in Macy's. It was a color called Silverpearl Pink and I felt so grown up wearing it, and got tons of compliments. They really haven't changed much except they got rid of the perfume in them which is great. Today my favorite is Pink in the Afternoon--Last May Revlon confirmed on their Facebook page that Audrey Hepburn wore Pink in the Afternoon in the movie Breakfast at Tiffany's. It is such a pretty peachy pink color. I also love Bare Affair, Primrose, Silver City Pink, Blushed, Champagne on Ice, and Blushing Mauve. There is something for everyone. Drugstore and affordable brands have really stepped up their game. I rarely spring for high end these days.

I love these videos! Love the drugstore, but I’m so frustrated with how products have been tried by someone already. I had to return a lipstick to Rite Aid that had been used, but RA stuck a sticker back on it - a security tag - to hide that it had been used! Walgreens has a lot of testers, but still most products have been used. Ugh. I order online but can’t see the colors accurately. Sorry for the rant! I love your channel!

I recently purchased the Nivea Lip balm in blackberry ~ I love it. It's perfect for summer .. a nice wash of color and is light on the lips ... no heavy fussy lipstick for me right now.
The elf flawless finish foundation! I started using it because of you and nothing has beat it since. It's just so easy and wears beautifully throughout the day. I usually apply it with my fingers, no issues whatsoever in the morning.
I'm so happy to see the Super Lustrous lipsticks get the love they so richly deserve! They've been legendary for a few generations for darn good reason. And since you asked, I'll tell you: For my aging, combination, textured skin, my "I Can't Believe It's Not Expensive" hero product is L'Oreal True Match liquid foundation. It is so close to my holy grail Chanel Perfection Lumiere Velvet, it's practically a dupe -- if anything, I like it better than the Chanel because it's fragrance free. It blends on like a dream; doesn't creep into all the dents, dings, and divots on my face; and stays put for as long as I need it to. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go check out those ELF blushes... thanks as always, Emily :)
I absolutely love the Palladio metal crush eyeshadow and the L’Oréal infallible pressed eyeshadow (oldie but a goodie). They are so metallic and pigmented! I would’ve thought they were urban decay if I didn’t know

- Colourpop eyeshadow - L’Oréal Voluminous mascara (black tube) and essence lash princess (green print) - Physicians Formula healthy foundation is hands down the best in the drugstore and feels so expensive too - physicians formula eye liner pen (in silver tube) is the most comparable to the KVD tattoo liner I’ve ever tried. I actually prefer it. - AVON lip conditioner .. it’s a great lip primer , fills in the lines, hydrating and has SPF. - Maybelline lipstick and Flower Beauty have the nicest feeling lipstick of anyone including high end (with the only exception being Bobbi Brown crushed lip and crushed liquid lip). Flower makes several dupes of Charlotte T that are more comfy on the lip - NYX lip oils . Feel so nice - ELF primer infused blush - Maybelline Fit Me pressed/ loose powder -Shop MissA beauty sponge - amazing!! Better than beauty blender and $1-$1.75 (different colours, shapes and density. Best sponges ever)

This is my all time favorite topic as well! One of my favorite "I can't believe I paid so little for this product!" products is the Essence nude highlighter. It's huge, has lasted me years and gives the most natural sheen/glow to the skin (much like hourglass powders) without being glittery or shimmery. I can confidently say it's probably the best $3 I've ever spent ! Also ELF cream blush palette (I think $4 or $6?) works just as well as any of my high-end cream blushes, has decent staying power, a HUGE mirror, and you get four different shades so the color customization is literally endless. I never travel without that thing!

That Lacquered Strawberry lipstick looks absolutely stunning on you. I love your wonderful enthusiasm and thorough description of products. I've just discovered an amazing eye shadow base which I think rivals Urban Decay's "Eden". It's Essence's "I Love Stage Eye Shadow Base." If you have discoloration in your eyelid area, it works like a charm. I also absolutely love Wet n Wild's Megaglo Hello Halo Liquid Highlighters.

One product I'm impressed by that I purchased after one of your videos months back are the Covergirl cheekers blushes. I think they're my favorite blushes of all time. If they would just ditch the included brush and make the product pan a circle or square they'd be absolute perfection.
That ELF coconut spray is bomb! I use it in the summer to cool my skin and in the winter to sooth and add hydration. It's great under makeup and over makeup. I have 4 backups in my drawer just in case they try and discontinue it!
I bought the Nivea Berry balm after the first time you showed it and it now lives in my purse! I love a berry balm/gloss stick that wears away well like Clinique's Almost Lipstick in Black Honey, a lipstick I've been wearing since middle school in the early 90s! Although they annoy me with the new collection launch every day, ColourPop's eyeshadow formula is amazing and best of all, consistent. I'm so glad they're at Ulta although I wish so many more of their products were carried but their shadows, lip products and blushes are great, especially their new blush sticks!
My favorite affordable makeup is something I use every day- the thinner Colourpop brow pencils. Love them! I also really love the L’Oréal Voluminous False Fiber mascara.

My fave drugstore items that can hang with anything you buy at Sephora: Maybelline Falsies Mascara, Maybelline Fit Me Loose Powder, Neutrogena Hydroboost lip balm, Jordana powder blushes, and Sinful Colors Nail polishes (especially their gel-like formulas, with the metallic caps). ♥️
I’d love to see a mascara version of this. Mascara and lip products are places I think the drugstore really shines; often doing things even better. I always get complements on my red Revlon lipsticks!
I remember the first time I bought a Revlon super lustrous lipstick from a department store. It was quite expensive for the money my parents gave me back then (I was 16 years old I think) and the feeling was as if I was buying something so luxorius. It was around 15 bucks in my country and I was given 50 for the entire month. Wore it a ton after that because I spent so much money on it and felt like a princess every time.

You are TH-cam's Ray of Sunshine and we (your viewers), are SO blessed you are here. This video was fantastic. I am a huge fan of the L'Oreal lip colors since you recommended them. The price and quality is unbeatable. Also from L'Oreal, the Infallible Paints Metallics in Rose Chrome and Brass Knuckles can hold their own to any similar shade from a high end brand. The pigment and staying power is fantastic. I love that I don't need a brush to apply; a fingertip works just as well. Lastly, today's Em-ism is also a life philosophy..."It's what's on the inside that counts Y'all." Yup. Doesn't matter how well you can apply your makeup. If you don't have beauty on the inside to back it up, you're just another painted face. Thanks for being so much more than the makeup.

I was sooooo close to buying the elf primer infused blush recently but decided to buy the cream blush instead that’s in a little pot. I did buy the primer infused bronzer though and am excited to try. Andrea Matilano convinced me to try it.

I have to agree about Milani! Most every product I've tried from them has felt luxe. I also like the L'oréal fresh wear foundation I just can't find my perfect shade.

Hi Emily, When I was in high school in the 1970's Revlon Super Lustrous Lipsticks were sold in department stores. I bought my first one in Macy's. It was a color called Silverpearl Pink and I felt so grown up wearing it, and got tons of compliments. They really haven't changed much except they got rid of the perfume in them which is great. Today my favorite is Pink in the Afternoon--Last May Revlon confirmed on their Facebook page that Audrey Hepburn wore Pink in the Afternoon in the movie Breakfast at Tiffany's. It is such a pretty peachy pink color. I also love Bare Affair, Primrose, Silver City Pink, Blushed, Champagne on Ice, and Blushing Mauve. There is something for everyone. I love these videos! Love the drugstore, but I’m so frustrated with how products have been tried by someone already. I had to return a lipstick to Rite Aid that had been used, but RA stuck a sticker back on it - a security tag - to hide that it had been used! Walgreens has a lot of testers, but still most products have been used. Ugh. I order online but can’t see the colors accurately. Sorry for the rant! I love your channel!

I recently purchased the Nivea Lip balm in blackberry ~ I love it. It's perfect for summer .. a nice wash of color and is light on the lips ... no heavy fussy lipstick for me right now.
The elf flawless finish foundation! I started using it because of you and nothing has beat it since. It's just so easy and wears beautifully throughout the day. I usually apply it with my fingers, no issues whatsoever in the morning.

I'm so happy to see the Super Lustrous lipsticks get the love they so richly deserve! They've been legendary for a few generations for darn good reason. And since you asked, I'll tell you: For my aging, combination, textured skin, my "I Can't Believe It's Not Expensive" hero product is L'Oreal True Match liquid foundation. It is so close to my holy grail Chanel Perfection Lumiere Velvet, it's practically a dupe -- if anything, I like it better than the Chanel because it's fragrance free. It blends on like a dream; doesn't creep into all the dents, dings, and divots on my face; and stays put for as long as I need it to. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go check out those ELF blushes... thanks as always, Emily :)
I absolutely love the Palladio metal crush eyeshadow and the L’Oréal infallible pressed eyeshadow (oldie but a goodie). They are so metallic and pigmented! I would’ve thought they were urban decay if I didn’t know

- physicians formula eye liner pen (in silver tube) is the most comparable to the KVD tattoo liner I’ve ever tried. I actually prefer it.
- AVON lip conditioner .. it’s a great lip primer , fills in the lines, hydrating and has SPF.
- Maybelline lipstick and Flower Beauty have the nicest feeling lipstick of anyone including high end (with the only exception being Bobbi Brown crushed lip and crushed liquid lip). Flower makes several dupes of Charlotte T that are more comfy on the lip

This is my all time favorite topic as well! One of my favorite "I can't believe I paid so little for this product!" products is the Essence nude highlighter. It's huge, has lasted me years and gives the most natural sheen/glow to the skin (much like hourglass powders) without being glittery or shimmery. I can confidently say it's probably the best $3 I've ever spent ! Also ELF cream blush palette (I think $4 or $6?) works just as well as any of my high-end cream blushes, has decent staying power, a HUGE mirror, and you get four different shades so the color customization is literally endless. I never travel without that thing!

I've just discovered an amazing eye shadow base which I think rivals Urban Decay's "Eden". It's Essence's "I Love Stage Eye Shadow Base." If you have discoloration in your eyelid area, it works like a charm. I also absolutely love Wet n Wild's Megaglo Hello Halo Liquid Highlighters.

Just recently bought some items (Elf putty, Flower Beauty concealer, blushes). I'm on hiatus for another 6 months to control my spending habits, so that I can ACTUALLY use the stuff I get, and have room to experiment with what I already have, as I continue to be a conscious consumer. The product list here is definitely going on my next purchase

One product I'm impressed by that I purchased after one of your videos months back are the Covergirl cheekers blushes. I think they're my favorite blushes of all time. If they would just ditch the included brush and make the product pan a circle or square they'd be absolute perfection.
That ELF coconut spray is bomb! I use it in the summer to cool my skin and in the winter to sooth and add hydration. It's great under makeup and over makeup. I have 4 backups in my drawer just in case they try and discontinue it!
I bought the Nivea Berry balm after the first time you showed it and it now lives in my purse! I love a berry balm/gloss stick that wears away well like Clinique's Almost Lipstick in Black Honey, a lipstick I've been wearing since middle school in the early 90s! Although they annoy me with the new collection launch every day, ColourPop's eyeshadow formula is amazing and best of all, consistent. I'm so glad they're at Ulta although I wish so many more of their products were carried but their shadows, lip products and blushes are great, especially their new blush sticks!

My favorite affordable makeup is something I use every day- the thinner Colourpop brow pencils. Love them! I also really love the L’Oréal Voluminous False Fiber mascara.
I love this idea!!! My fave drugstore items that can hang with anything you buy at Sephora: Maybelline Falsies Mascara, Maybelline Fit Me Loose Powder, Neutrogena Hydroboost lip balm, Jordana powder blushes, and Sinful Colors Nail polishes (especially their gel-like formulas, with the metallic caps). ♥️
I’d love to see a mascara version of this. Mascara and lip products are places I think the drugstore really shines; often doing things even better. I always get complements on my red Revlon lipsticks!

I remember the first time I bought a Revlon super lustrous lipstick from a department store. It was quite expensive for the money my parents gave me back then (I was 16 years old I think) and the feeling was as if I was buying something so luxorius. It was around 15 bucks in my country and I was given 50 for the entire month. Wore it a ton after that because I spent so much money on it and felt like a princess every time.

The wet and wild reserve your cabana is a dupe for the kat von dee powder in the shade and light palette also a dupe for the mac emphasize powder its brightening. Also the covergirl liquid eyeshadows dupe for stila. Smaller youtuber doing a big give up way for reaching 500 subscribers if anyone is interested!

More companies need to make their lipstick tops clear, that would be so good for people who like to store their lip products in drawers/organizers!! 😊
