49 seconds in yup it will start. If it has good compression it can be saved I fixed a 1974 Stilh 031AV been sitting in my parents basement since the early 90s when my grandfather gave it to my parents he picked it up in the early 80s from a garage sale so around 35 years of not running sitting around it's now my primary saw. Point being if the motor has good compression it can be fixed. If I can fix a saw which sat broken for 35 years with no knowledge of how to fix small motors I'm sure someone like you can fix that homelite. Also thanks for the bar link in the description I need a new bar for my Homelite 240.
Great job! I have a small repair shop at my home. That saw like some others are a total mess getting apart to fix. The saw you had was hardly used in the first place, just a mess from setting around for years. If a customer brought me in one like it I would not fix it. Too much labor involved and when you get through it still might not run. Good Job it was fun watching you go thru the hassle on fixing it. Ron Michigan
You can fix the plastic cracks with liquid super glue then immediately cover it with baking soda and it’ll be rock hard. You can layer it too and file it if you have any high spots. Nice job on reviving the chain saw. Reminded me of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre movie when you were revving it in your dark Silhouette at the end.
Those older Homelites were runners. When they started putting plastic covers on them they screwed up. That saw has been around the block a few times for sure. But she made a complete come back. Nice recovery DW6.
Unreal you got that thing back together and running without any new parts. I wonder why it was thrown out to begin with. Glad I watched the whole thing.
Thanks for watching. It was at a scrap yard I think it was tossed just because of how it looked. I was the one that pulled the recoil out and it didn't retract. Whoever got rid of it just tossed it.
Yeah I have to say I enjoyed that.. love it when someone brings something back from the dead.. well done to your lad and and the basketball congratulations.. for a min I didn't think it was going to run but I stand corrected.. runs good .. good one mate.. take care
OK Bob right at the beginning of the video i thought no way It isn't worth trying. But with one swipe with the cup brush you got my attention. I have the Super X model of this saw and it is LOUD. It has the same gas cap and oil cap and appearance. At 1:18:08 I am glad it never started. It took a few pumps but it loves you now. These are wonderful saws.
If you want to test magnesium vs aluminum, there's two easy methods. They both involve scraping some off and either put vinegar on it, or light it on fire. If it's magnesium, you'll know right away.
All these old saw without a chain brake all parts have been discontinued and dealers are not allowed to repair or sell so when you have one of these saws that needs parts or to be repaired good luck because you are on your own. It doesn't matter what brand it is because that there's no chain brake you need to put it on the shelf.
Okay great video man but my god don't ever clamp the bar like that again while its on the saw, just take it off then clamp it down so you don't bend it .
congratulations on your hard work bobby, and happy birthday! thanks for this video, i was gifted a old homelite 330 , one of the engine mounts was broken so i found a parts machine to combine the 2 to make one good saw, i was told that theese are magnesium castings and the older machines are good machines, do you use opti2 for oil ? looked to be burning really clean!
Another easy way to wind is a screw into a piece of wood at inside and then use drill without any bits if you don’t have it, or if you do even better...use cable ties to hold together. just my .$1 worth inflation you know, no longer a penny’s worth lol. I always get mixed up with which way the rope goes around the spool...;)
You saved another one Bob. Good to see you do micks live on the 19th. It was a pretty cool idea and we got a little perspective about the goals of each channel! Merry Christmas to you and your family. Glad to here your son made the traveling team. My son played AAU basketball when he was that age. We spent alot of weekends traveling. I was an assistant coach and wouldn't have traded that time with my son for anything! Roger

Was wondering why the vid was so long. Then I saw the spring fly apart. Lol. Great vid as always. Greetings from Missouri.
Déjà vu..... lot of hard work went into that project. Those older Homlite were good saws.
I like the saws when they start, but they are so hard to work on that they are not worth keeping in my opinion.
Video was great but seeing your son move to this milestone in his life was even better!
after watching this I do not look forward on working on my 240 but I am glad I watched and hope I can do what you did .great job. want to do mine??lol

Yeah i heard of someone putting magnesium shavings in a cigarette tray as a prank.
Great news on Bobby. Praise God! Good job on the saw Bob Merry Christmas to you and the family!!!

Now I have clamp envy. 😆
What is the weight limit on your mower lift and can it lift snowblowers

what kind of cleaning liquid do you use in your ultrasonic machine
harbor freight degreaser and dawn dish soap with water. It works very well.

The older machines are built to last . Will out last all the new plastic junk .
Paws are on a dog. Pawls are on a chainsaw.😁
Is this a repeat? I'm real sure I saw this yesterday
I think he reposted the video because this video is 1 hour and 24 minutes the video from yesterday was only 55 minutes long.
I posted and the video did not upload. Didn't realize it for a day or two.
🙂👍
Is this the mustie1 channel?
Far from it but I will take that as a compliment!
Love the videos!
They were great saw's but I think they had chain oiler problems?
This is where you stop,... go to ebay and buy parts.
