What Does “Deliverance” TRULY Look like for a Christian?

  • Can homosexuals truly be delivered from same-sex attraction? Let me put it another way. When God "delivers" a Christian from a sin, does that mean that the temptation towards that sin just goes away? Well, because I've never struggled with same-sex attraction, I wanted you to hear from the perspectives of a couple of people who have. In this video I feature clips from Dr. Christopher Yuan and Jackie Hill Perry. I hope you are encouraged to look at "deliverance" in a different way than every before.

Hey BEAT family! So, check this out. I know at first glance you may think, "well, this video is not for me." But, before you go there, let me challenge you with this thought. Do we really understand what true "deliverance" looks like no matter what your sin struggle might be? Is it something mystical and magical that when you experience it, your temptation towards it goes away for life? Or, might it look a bit different than we may think or may have been taught? In this video, I focus specifically on same-sex attraction but the principles shared in this video will apply to any sin no matter what. I hope you enjoy this and are encouraged by it.

Homosexuality has been something that i have struggled with for most of my life.
Although i have always had a spiritual connection with The Lord, i always felt a lacking on my part.
It was torturous for me because i was caught between having faith and hating myself.
i was always deferred to the line in Leviticus where it outright called homosexuality an abomination, but i rationalized it by telling (deceiving) myself that it was in the Old Testament and that Jesus came and changed all that.
i had tried and failed many times at relationships with men for over 20 years, and i couldn't figure out why i was so miserable no matter the situation.
It didn't matter what kind of guy i was with or how old he was. It would always end in the same way: heartache and misery. i knew that The Lord loved me because of the many times that he had saved my life and kept me from getting sick. ... but deep down i knew it wasn't quite enough to just believe , accept blessings and grace.
i even held off on calling myself a Christian for years because it felt like a lie.
i just didn't know what to do anymore.
Time and time again, i tried praying the gay away.
Since the prayers didn't work, i figured that i was meant to be this way and that i was just unlucky in love.
Then i met a man just last summer. We got along fine.
It was clear that we loved each other and i felt as if my "Happily Ever After" had finally come.
He even bought me a KJV Bible for Christmas because i mentioned that i wanted a Bible with the word "firmament" in it. i have always enjoyed reading about the beginning, but the military-published bible that i had for years cut the word out.
i had been taking my new bible to work with me every night and reading books that i never paid much attention to.
Now sometime in December or January i had prayed and asked The Lord to take this man out of my life if he is not supposed to be in it.
i "heard" his voice tell me that i had to get him out of my life myself, but not to be afraid, because He would be with me.
Fast forward to late February of 2024:
i was watching a video on a gossip channel where the guy referenced Romans 12:2.
The scripture intrigued me, especially, because i NEVER thought twice about Romans. So i decided to start from the beginning of the book. While reading, i found the confirmation that i needed.
Romans 1:24 shook me to my core.
i knew what i had to do, but i didn't know how i was going to do it or if i even could.
THEN i asked myself a question:
Which do you love more? Do you love God or do you love the sin?
The answer was clear and true.
i loved the sin but denounced my homosexuality and broke it off with my then man-friend (40 is far too old to be calling somebody a boyfriend).
i had gone to church for most of my life and walked up to the pulpit time and time again, but this was the very first time that i felt born again; SAVED.
i haven't actually been to church since, maybe, 2012?
i'm not a heterosexual now, but i no longer feel bound by my former lifestyle.
It isn't easy because i remember EVERYTHING about my past life and i feel very guilty about it, but it gets easier to deal with each day and i truly feel that i am on the right path.
    Now more than ever before.
In the end, i chose God, and i have absolutely no regrets.
My hope now is that other gay people will find the truth and grow from it.

When I couldn't control and end my drinking addiction and knowing how it grieved my wife, I went into my bedroom and fell on my knees, even crying out to God. I implored Him, to take it out of my life because I could not. The moment I stood up, the feeling of wanting to have a drink was no longer with me. This video really encouraged me. When I was 21 years old I “came out” to my parents as bisexual. When I felt the Lord calling me back to him when I turned 22, I was kind of expecting those feelings would just go away, yet they didn’t. Even when I was praying and reading the Bible daily those thoughts were still there, I didn’t think I was even saved. Now I’m 23 and I’ve came to the realization that, like they said in the video, it’s not about being tempted but what you do in the midst of temptation. Although I’d be pretty stoked if I didn’t, I’m sure I will struggle with it til the day I die but God is so good he’s giving me strength to resist. If you’re struggling with this remember to keep the faith even if you’re falling short. We are saved by grace through faith and not by works - if you remain faithful God will give you strength to resist the enemy.

Your need to know that no one is born gay, it is a desire that develops when they give their minds over to perverted thoughts.
A lot of gay celebrities dated the opposite sex before they they started dating same sex. Sexual desire is a choice. Anyone can have perverted desires if they give their minds over to those things.
Just look at the example of straight men who go to jail, but overtime starts engaging in homosexuality while in prison. Being gay or bisexual is a choice not a biological programming of one's nature.
If someone really wants to change from their desires God will help them. If they like those desires, then they will remain in it.
People can chose to act contrary to their nature if they want to. You have total control over your sexuality. If you want to remain straight or act gay it is in your control.
You have total control over your freewill. God wants you to come to a place where you don't have those feelings and temptations anymore because it goes against the nature He created for you.
The enemy is playing with your mind by making you think this is who you are but it is not.
If you are born again you have the same Spirit as Christ.
Jesus was never tempted. He was tested. This video is off. GOD said He cannot be tempted nor does He tempt anyone. Temptation is from the devil.
Jesus said that even the thought of sin is a sin so this means feelings of temptation is a sin. Because one need to be thinking about the sin in order to be tempted.
True deliverance means you wouldn't feel tempted by the sin anymore and that's where God wants You to be my friend. Don't settle for less.

      @@jacquelinelandeau5544 that's wrong interpretations.
Sin is not just an action sin is also a thought and a desire. Or else covetousness (DESIRING someone else's possessions) wouldn't be a sin .
Jesus was NEVER tempted because He is God. He was tested. To be tempted means to "feel" sinful desires and God cannot feel sinful desires.
Jesus came in the LIKENESS of sinful flesh but WITHOUT SIN. His human BODY doesn't have sin in it nor does it have the desire to sin. That's gnosticism if you believe that and that teaching is heretical.
Desiring to sin is a sin because it means you're not in faith and whatever is not of faith is sin.
There is a difference between temptation and testing.
JESUS WAS NOT TEMPTED (able to feel sin) HE WAS TESTED (presented an option to choose to sin or not).
Scripture says "GOD CANNOT BE TEMPTED NOR DOES HE TEMPT ANYONE". It also says "GOD CANNOT SIN".
In order to feel sinful desire one must be thinking of that sin. And JESUS Said if you think of sin you have already sinned. So based on the teaching of Jesus tempation=sin. So anytime we think of sin we are already sinning that's why we all need to be born again.
Jesus said if you have lustful THOUGHTS for example, it is a sin.
It is written "Whatever is not of FAITH is sin". So if someone is constantly thinking thoughts of sin rather than thoughts of Faith, they are sinning.
You all need to understand that GOD'S standards are PERFECT and even the desire to sin is a sin. We shouldn't lower His standards to feel better about ourselves, that's pride.
We should be born again and trust in His Grace and not our works

Yes, you can. Apart of my testimony is when I was involved in that life style, I woke up one morning and God had completely snatched that desire/attraction from me. I know people were praying for me. That was apart of His plan in that moment of my life. After that day, I had broke up with my gf at the time. After that experience, I was not saved, but didn't end up getting saved until years later. Does the enemy try to tempt me in that area, he sure does, but that is not who I am. Everyone does not have the same experience. Underneath all those broken layers my issue was lust/ need for validation/acceptance, low self-esteem, rejection and sense of belonging (to name a few). God deals with the roots.

I just finished the video -- thank you for covering this but i do have good news: it's not rare to be 100% delivered mentally from same-sex attraction. The term attraction should also be defined. Thinking someone is pretty/handsome is NOT the same as lusting but even the LGBTQ try to confuse people thinking if you can identify someone as attractive or if you're not attracted to people at ALL that means you're gay/asexual so defining "attractions" is important because a straight person might say "that person of my same sex is good looking" and a gay person could think "that person of my same sex is good looking-- oh no, that means im still battling being gay!" If it's possible for alcoholics and crack-addicts to be delivered mentally fully and not think about it anymore -- it's not rare for gays to stop having same-sex attraction. Full deliverance happens all the time, everyday. -- With love, an ex-gay.

@Zed Kenny hello friend -- thank you for messaging in! :) I understand you most likely have affection for people who get attacked with homosexual thoughts. Perhaps you yourself are someone who gets attacked. Everything I'm about to say I say out of love for you, your friends, and your future -- Genuinely.
If you've lied before, stolen anything (downloaded illegal music), if you've blasphemed God's name, disrespected your parents. Jesus says **if you've looked at someone with lust** you've committed adultery in your heart-- If you have done all of those things, even some of them then you're a liar, thief, blasphemer, and adulterer at heart and you're going to have to face a Holy God on Judgement day whether you believe in Him or not. **How do you know what's wrong or right?** -- You're human just like the rest of us -- Including myself.
Love isn't an emotion, it's not a feeling of want or a feeling of attraction. Love is Self-Sacrificial Truth based on what brings Life Mercy, Grace, and Patience to both your friends and your enemies equally and your future generations *at your expense*. It's valuing even your enemies more than yourself, even until death. Lust is an overwhelming emotional state of heat and desire that brings about temporal self-pleasure and the death of you, physically and spiritually as the wages of Sin is Death.
Homosexuality is wrong because it is NOT based on love, it's based on lust, fear, and hatred and I'd say the same thing for any couple, straight or otherwise, who has s/x outside of marriage (which is only valid between a man and a woman), adulterers, or a relationship that doesn't center around Christ. Homosexuality cannot and never will be able to complete the full picture of Love -- not even by 1%. Historyically, Roman and Greecian empires crashed after it's run with Homosexuality which bled into p/d/philia (which is also rising in America, as adults continue to push their s/xual agenda). Homosexuality brings Death. It cuts off people's ability to procreate after their own kind and their ability to take any step closer to Love. Scientifically, If gen z maintains their homosexuality, more than 50% of American populations will be wiped out because sin leads to death.
Homosexuality comes from a hatred of/aversion to the opposite sex and comes from sexual/verbal/physical trauma that our gaurdians or parents (or lack-of parenting or parents in the home) failed to protect us from. For instance, any content dealing with s/xuality on the internet, schooling or parental/guardian issues **always** creates homosexuality in the hearts of humans **everytime** (in addition to the unfortunate fact that our human hearts have been mortally wounded with sin and sinful thoughts and temptations since Adam and Eve). With the rise of p/rn, adults became gayer and less moral, and then rose p/d/philia, and children being exposed to s/xual content as early as 6 years of age. I'm wrong? Go Google the literal Drag Queen Nickelodeon show that's on TV right now, grown adult, hairy men in Drag are grooming and indoctrinating children, manipulating and shaping their s/xuality as we speak.
Final fact, Homosexuality in children and adults has increased from generation X at around 2% in America to generation Z with more than 51% of children identifying as gay with the (still rising) p/rnography viewership. Homosexuality plays hand-in-hand with loss of societal morality and an up in a self-indulgent, athiestic, decadent society of abortions, juvenile deliquency, drug abuse, criminality, broken families and... Homosexuality! (-- Here's where Christians start talking about Satanic Possession, but I digress.)
There is a divine order, a beauty, lessons, gifts, and true love that God allows us to access on Earth, in this life (and after) if you would humble your heart, seek and value Truth, you can be entirely freed from everything that gives you depression, fear, or an unwillingness to forgive. God can give you new desires that matches what He wants (which is righteous, innocent living, moral relationships, un-broken promises). Life won't be easy, and people may even hate you and make fun of you for your Christian ideals, there are some people who die for Righteousness, but God will reward your desire for an innocent heart and living by showing Himself to you, fixing your brokenness and giving you the Love no one else on this Earth could ever give you.
Zed Kenny, He wants you to come back to Him and be His child.
God is Love, set aside what's broken, the illusions, and sins that can never satisfy you, but will bring you to your death. You know homosexuality is wrong. Do not cut yourself off from the Love God offers to you. If you're ready for a huge change in your life, Zedd, please read Romans in the Bible (Then, if you're brave -- Listen to Matthew). -- With Love, Ex-Gay.

I'm your average gen z/millenial cusp exposed to p//orn at a young age. Dated girls online (as a girl myself) since the age of 8. Thought I was gay from ages 12-19. Pursued gay relationships - even thought I was transgender at one point and everyone affirmed me -- even encouraged via teachers at school. I believed my thoughts were my identity (big mistake). Until I heard straight people also get attacked by as many homosexual thoughts just as gays do. But gays induldge in those thoughts, thinking it's good (calling good evil and evil good) because society says it's okay, and live out what our minds practices meditating on.
Anyway, I got out of college (the education system is rampant w societal ideologies that corrupt and confuse children), got around better people, learned about the Lord. It was difficult and messy process to undo the damage, and it took me 4 years to get back on the right track. Now, I'm in a Christ-centered (straight) relationship, Christ-centered friendships, have never had gay thoughts, and feel more innocent and kind.
Homosexuality is a side-effect of fear trauma (p/rn) depression which results from not loving God, and therefore loving evil.

The end of this video was extremely relatable and impactful. I do look at on my life, when I gave into a same-sex relationship and environment (Atlanta, Ga.) I can remember the spirit of God tugging at my neck, to flee, I swear I can remember and I chose to stay, & when I say the entire trajectory of my life has been altered.
Even when I did leave and put my heart and full focus on Christ I slipped. It’s a strong spirt to break however I do believe with consistency, a community, focus and embedded in the true word of God, also keeping busy living a life that pleases God, while just staying busy, one can build a strong resistance to sin.
Man… it’s so much. Like it’s so much. It’s such a battle for me, not even all women, just the one I was involved with, she wasn’t bad at all, she was one of the best human beings I’ve ever encountered.
I do wish at time I could have let the sinful nature go without also losing her. Anyhoo. My spill.

sexual sins are one of the most hardest to get delivered from. theses sins feel good, feel natural, so it's hard to shake. In order to get deliverance, you have to want and believe you can be delivered. a lot of the time in our hearts we don't truly have the desire to part ways from what has felt good and natural all this time. James 1:14-16 says "Temptation comes from our own desires, which entice us and drag us away" if you have a disease that's painful you will definitely want to get rid of it and believe for it to be gone. that's an easier thing to believe you can be delivered from there's no temptation there, there's nothing that feel good about that disease, there's no connection to it. that's my take on it.

    • @comingsn2519
      @comingsn2519 2 ปีที่แล้ว +11

Thats true. Sometimes though that can be a struggle too but in a different way. Its a matter of if we have enough faith for our deliverance. And this may sound crazy but sometimes people like the sympathy they get from having a disease especially non terminal. Its sad but true! And we also have to have discernment to know whether or not God will deliver us or if its something we simply have to allow God to give us His grace to endure. Whether a sin temptation or a disease. Either way it's frustrating because when it comes to sin it may feel good for a while to our bodies or even minds but it grieves our spirit. And that in and of itself is at some point enough to make us wanna stop. But it can seem impossible to. That is why He says His grace is sufficient. He doesn't give us over to sin temptation or to disease (unless its our time to go) but He gives us grace and faith to endure and withstand. He uses these things to increase our faith. We have to learn how to let go trying to do it on our own. When we have negative thoughts or tempting thoughts do we run to Him or wallow? That is how HIS grace works. Knowing and acknowledging we can't do it on our own. It makes us realize we are human and only God can do it

I would say most would agree with you that sexual sin is the hardest overcome but for me it was far easier to be delivered from sexual desire than my pride. I am a gentleman that the Lord has called out of that lifestyle. I have found that my struggle is no where near as hard, as long as I focus on him. My issue never was craving sexual gradification, more than it was looking for acceptance the only way I was trained to do. Once the holy spirit reveals to you what that lifestyle is truly about, sex, you will start to understand what to resist, and how to pray against it, and in my experience, God will also help you, and block situations from happening. I can truly say today, that I have no taste for it. You are truly correct to warn people to not act though, because of the hurt and despare you do feel when you do remember the situations. God will do everything possible to get your attention, especially if you are praying for deliverance. It's just that some may not like the answer and the way out he shows. I think my biggest takeaway is that we are all dealing with one sin or another and God invites us to serve him and gives us power to fight against temptation and grace for when we fall into temptation. So we can persevere through this life. Also each person's experience is different when they become a christian. Some are completely free from previous addictions while others live with their past addictions for the rest of their lives. Both are saved and thank God for their testimony.

People need to see the realistic walk and not all that show boating that God took all the desire away, because then others feel something wrong with them Cauae their desires aren’t gone and they embarrassed to talk to people and get godly counsel about it.

We probably would see more examples like these individuals (one of whom - Chris Yuan - I actually saw tell his story in person at Stand to Reason reTHINK 2019) if people were actually humble about this matter. Instead, as they make emphatically clear every June, they’re proud of it.
It’s the pride - not merely the homosexuality itself - that serves as the one and only stumbling block to relinquishment of this lifestyle. Replace gay pride with gay humility and you’d suddenly have a lot more people repenting of their homosexuality than is the case currently.

@@Flavatv98 What genetic evidence do you have to support the notion that people are “born” attracted to the same sex? What haplogroups? What individual genes? As study after study over the past 50 years has proven, that evidence is completely non-existent. Anything you’re actually born with MUST be detectable in DNA; if it’s not genetic then you’re not born with it.
Meanwhile on my side, there’s histology: stratified squamous epithelial tissue is 20 times more naturally protective against sexually transmitted infections than is simple columnar epithelial tissue. Last I checked, anal epithelial tissue is simple columnar while vaginal epithelial tissue is stratified squamous. This makes anyone who engages in anal intercourse 20 times more effective at spreading diseases sexually, regardless of whether the anal intercourse in question is done heterosexually or homosexually. Don’t come at me with “but women have more HIV cases than men” either because the women who have it also have more anal intercourse than most others.
Tell me again who’s believing things without evidence? As far as I can tell it’s you, not me, in this case.

One of the most difficult topics I guess...
My thoughts: I don't like hearing "I'm born this way". I can't dispute it. But from my experiences from talking to gay people is that there are "issues" so deep burried in one's mind, it so hard to even reach it. But so often I got to that point that gay people came to a possible theory, why they developed away from the traditional role model of heterosexuality.
And I think, that's the most important step, being willing to get tl know yourself. Find out what made you to that who you are today (for anything in this world, not just homosexuality...).
And this won't cure anyone automatically, but they may understand what the experienced, what the lived through that their sexual attraction switched to the same gender. And yes, I see a big problem in today's mentality. But I'm wearing rainbow coloured laces and I wouldn't dare to judge any ones sexuality. I only judge, if someone is hurting someone with his own behavior.
And if we look at some heterosexual relationships, patriarchy, abuse, dominance... Just because it's heterosexual it is "better" than a loving couple, never betraying each other, not promoting their lifestlye, agreeing that they maybe had so traumatic experiences that their attraction already became impossible to the other gender because of things they experienced in earlist childhood?
And yes. I met someone, lived 3 weeks with him when I got thrown out and was basically homeless. And we had so many good conversations. And he was put out on the cold balcony by his mother when he was a baby! She was so abusive to this totally defensless living being. It had such an impact on his while being... He probably won't ever be able to feel attraction to women again. He's now in his 50is. And he tried everything! He came to the point, that it won't ever change.
So... That's what I'm missing these days. That we are willing to look into the mirror and see find out who we are. You can't change a problem by fighting the symptoms, you have to find the root cause of the problem...
My friend is an extreme example. He only found out of this abuse through long therapy but knowing what he experienced and having an explanation helped him so much.
And even he himself said, he believes that there are homosexuals which might find a way to "treat" their homosexuality, if they knew the roots of it.
And maybe some people lived through such trauma, that have to accept the way they are.
But should they now be struggeling all their lives fighting the temptation? I don't know the answer.
But going back to a previous thougt...I see soooooo much hyprocrisy. But we're pointing with fingers on anyone living a same sex relationship! We're judging!
And my personal opinion: Being gay may not hurt anyone! If they're not promoting it and trying influencing others to their lifestyle. But I see rich people! I see christians swimming i wealth! And this!!! disgusts me!!! Because that wealth is hurting others!
How many passages in the bible are about being rich and how many about same sex relationship?
So I thinl no one has to say any word about any person that isn't living their "opinion" on right sexuality if his living a luxurious life!
That's so extemely ridiculous. If look at those prosperity preachers!
What is going on?!? Where can I find the videos on this channel where this topic is discussed?!?
This world is so poisoned by greed! And all my life I got so much repression by exactly christians! For just mentioning the topic "wealth"...
This is crazy! Look at our world! Are the homosexuals really any problem at all?!? No! It's greediness! And most of it is rooted in fear!
That's the strongest weapon of the devil! And the hompsexuals are being taken as easieat victims to distract from the so much worse things even christians do!
That's I wouldn't dare to judge anyone about his sexuality. But anyone living in wealth and overflow! And don't bring up any Job or other blessed saint from passed times. the world was different back then!
edit: gooosh... I get so triggered by those christian dogmatics. Maybe I shouldn't confront myself at all with this topic 😔 It makes me sooooo sad. Millions of people abusing the name of Jesus Christ, my biggest idol and living such a judgemental life, not seeing the most important message! To love one another!

Nope, Jesus made it clear that we would have troubles (John 16:33), and part of this walk is overcoming sinful temptations daily as long as we live on this earth. That is why the gospel about us being saved by the gift of grace not by earning it.

I have been in the church for years and have practiced same sex through porn and masturbation. I always thought that God would take the gay away and then I would be saved. It never happened so I kept sinning even though I loved the Lord. I felt that this way it for me. No hope. What I've learned is that God might not take the gay away but I can still live a life that honors Him by not giving in to temptation anymore. It's been hard but I came to the realization that the Lord and my salvation are much more important than going back to the 'vomit' every time I ask for forgiveness. It was never even hearfelt because I knew I was going to sin again. I need help and prayers with this addiction. I'm tired of the secrets and feeling shameful and dirty. I need to feel His love over me and that I am forgiven and that I will try, with His help, never to let porn and masturbation pull me apart from Him. Please help me pray. It is not easy but I know that He loves me and He wants me to stop doing this shameful thing.

Very well put! I used to be bi, but I don't think it's any different than being married and having to deny yourself the indulgence of lusting after someone you're not married to. It's your responsibility to look away, and His to give you the power to do so. I will say, however, that as a born again believer you DO NOT still have a sin nature.

Deliverance doesn’t mean automatically they have become heterosexuals and they are now attracted to the opposite sex.
Deliverance means they learn to love God more than the sin. Deliverance means they choose God more than the sin, fighting against the temptation.
They learn to repent, surrender, trust, and then follow God, living Gods truth, and giving into Gods truth to prevent the homosexual temptation to grow into actions. This stage takes a very long time, it won’t happen overnight.
All of this happens before they accept being a heterosexual and begin having an attraction to the opposite sex.
Everyone has temptation, being a Christian doesn’t completely erase the temptation. It will always be there but we learn to choose God over the temptation. We choose God over the sin.
The purpose of being a Christian is too choose God first, love God first, seek God first, and look at God first before anything and anyone. Stop pretending only unbelievers have sins. Christians still struggle with sin. They are never erased.

This is why every Christian must be born again in the spirit not just accept Jesus as your Lord and savior you must be born again.Because the holy spirit is our helper. Soooo good man. I saw that Clip with Jackie a while back and thought “this is gonna set a lot of people free”. We can be changed by Gods love and learn to love Him more than we love ourselves. It happened to me. But i will say that when pride came back in, I drifted away from His love and went back into sin. Not the same sin of infidelity but many other sins. All Of us should meditate on these words: “But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says: “God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.” Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Grieve, mourn and wail. Change your laughter to mourning and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.” James‬ ‭4:6-10‬. Theres so much celebrating the pride in our sin in this nation that we can’t even see that God is resisting us because of it. May we be humble enough to come to Him for consistent help.❤️🙏🏾

These type of videos are always helpful to me as I became a Christian when I was around 12 and as I got older I found I had same sex attraction which sadly in the 70's was not something you could easily discuss about with anyone in the church. So I slipped away into that lifestyle for many years sadly, but God is gracious and merciful and I can now see that he never gave up on me, and I eventually returned to my Christian faith. Do I still struggle at times with same sex attraction? Yes. Have I ever slipped up in any way? Yes. Sin is sin whether it's sexual sin or telling that little white lie. 1 John 1:8 says "If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us" I think we have to put it into perspective, and remember that Jesus died for all our sins, and when we slip up we ask our gracious and merciful God to forgive us, and place those sins at the foot of the cross. Living the Christian life isn't easy, but thank goodness we have a loving and never changing God who provides us guidance from the bible on how to live our lives......

The word “homosexual” didn’t appear in English Bibles until 1946
The word “arsenokoitai” shows up in two different verses in the bible, but it was not translated to mean “homosexual” until 1946.
We got to sit down with Ed Oxford at his home in Long Beach, California and talk about this question.
You have been part of a research team that is seeking to understand how the decision was made to put the word homosexual in the bible. Is that true?
Ed: Yes. It first showed up in the RSV translation. So before figuring out why they decided to use that word in the RSV translation
I wanted to see how other cultures and translations treated the same verses when they were translated during the Reformation 500 years ago. So I started collecting old Bibles in French, German, Irish, Gaelic, Czechoslovakian, Polish… you name it. Now I’ve got most European major languages that I’ve collected over time. Anyway, I had a German friend come back to town and I asked if he could help me with some passages in one of my German Bibles from the 1800s. So we went to Leviticus 18:22 and he’s translating it for me word for word. In the English where it says “Man shall not lie with man, for it is an abomination,” the German version says “Man shall not lie with young boys as he does with a woman, for it is an abomination.” I said, “What?! Are you sure?” He said, “Yes!” Then we went to Leviticus 20:13- same thing, “Young boys.” So we went to 1 Corinthians to see how they translated arsenokoitai (original Greek word) and instead of homosexuals it said, “Boy molesters will not inherit the kingdom of God.”
I then grabbed my facsimile copy of Martin Luther’s original German translation from 1534. My friend is reading through it for me and he says, “Ed, this says the same thing!” They use the word knabenschander. Knaben is boy, schander is molester. This word “boy molesters” for the most part carried through the next several centuries of German Bible translations. Knabenschander is also in 1 Timothy 1:10. So the interesting thing is, I asked if they ever changed the word arsenokoitai to homosexual in modern translations. So my friend found it and told me, “The first time homosexual appears in a German translation is 1983.” To me that was a little suspect because of what was happening in culture in the 1970s. Also because the Germans were the ones who created the word homosexual in 1862, they had all the history, research, and understanding to change it if they saw fit; however, they did not change it until 1983. If anyone was going to put the word homosexual in the Bible, the Germans should have been the first to do it!
    Expand
As I was talking with my friend I said, “I wonder why not until 1983? Was their influence from America?” So we had our German connection look into it again and it turns out that the company, Biblica, who owns the NIV version, paid for this 1983 German version. Thus it was Americans who paid for it! In 1983 Germany didn’t have enough of a Christian population to warrant the cost of a new Bible translation, because it’s not cheap. So an American company paid for it and influenced the decision, resulting in the word homosexual entering the German Bible for the first time in history. So, I say, I think there is a “gay agenda” after all!
I also have a 1674 Swedish translation and an 1830 Norwegian translation of the Bible. I asked one of my friends, who was attending Fuller seminary and is fluent in both Swedish and Norwegian, to look at these verses for me. So we met at a coffee shop in Pasadena with my old Bibles. (She didn’t really know why I was asking.) Just like reading an old English Bible, it’s not easy to read. The letters are a little bit funky, the spelling is a little bit different. So she’s going through it carefully, and then her face comes up, “Do you know what this says?!” and I said, “No! That’s why you are here!” She said, “It says boy abusers, boy molesters.” It turns out that the ancient world condoned and encouraged a system whereby young boys (8-12 years old) were coupled by older men. Ancient Greek documents show us how even parents utilized this abusive system to help their sons advance in society. So for most of history, most translations thought these verses were obviously referring the pederasty, not homosexuality!
So then I started thinking that of 4 of the 6 clobber passages, all these nations and translations were referring to pederasty, and not what we would call homosexuality today.
Scholars took what was well defined specifically and generalized it. The same practice is done in politics today. Like black lives matter saying all cops are racist when we know it's only a small minority. Allen Par didn't you do a video about blm?

Thank you so much for posting this comment. I have been researching this topic for about a year now. I also know pastors and ministers who have also researched and they have a seminary background. I just do research on my own for my own knowledge. After my research and speaking to a few ministers...I was also educated informed of the Greek word "Arsenokaitai". No one has ever been able to properly translate the word. Unfortunately, in the process, the word ended up being translated into homosexual which is still not accurate. Based on my research and speaking to a few ministers, I can to the conclusion that they weren't referring to homosexuality...but the abomination was pedophilia (just like you said). People have to put the time period into context. At the time it was very common for married men to abuse young boys for their pleasure. The sin is pedophilia..not the loving relationship between two adult males. Also, there is nothing in the Bible that addresses same-sex attraction between women.

@@hacked7142 Well yeah, a person can _believe_ anything they want. Just because you have faith in it and believe in it doesn't mean that it's automatically true though, unfortunately. Independent of whatever we say, a thing is either going to end up being true or untrue, and the only way we can eventually find out what's true or untrue without a shadow of a doubt is observation and reason. You yourself even have to admit that it's 100% a possibility that you could be wrong, because you are part of the equation too. Your belief didn't fly into your head out of the blue, YOU had to CHOOSE to initiate some kind of rational and emotional process to get to it, and because you're not infallible it's very unlikely that through that process you now possess absolute knowledge about an ultimate truth about the universe, which is what you're kind of claiming. From my perspective, what you're claiming about God and his will and all that is so unlikely that it's not even worth considering. You see what I mean? So to me and what I've seen and my own experience, same sex attraction isn't a sin and I can't even fathom how someone could argue that it is.

Such a wonderful broadcast!! Alcoholics who do the 12 step program doesn’t meant they aren’t tempted. I think we all have things, some more than others, addictions that even when we become Christians we have to trust God and take one day at a time. Jackie your testimony is right on

Great topic. When I first gave my life to Christ I also thought that being saved meant no same-sex attraction. I battle to accept God's forgiveness for years because I thought I couldn't be saved and still fancy women. Like Jackie, I also didn't want God to take it away, but when I surrendered to the Lord and learn about his ways. It was impossible not to fall head over heels in love with him and that love became greater than my need to act again his beautiful will. I wish that he would remove same-sex attraction away from me though, completely, but he hasn't. Yet, I am blown away daily by his keeping Grace. The things that I use to carry off with and think about before being saved. 🤐😳 so when I observe the person that I am becoming and the miraculous sustaining grace of God. I cry with a heart of thanksgiving, contentment and peace.

I was in a homosexual relationship for 7 years. From 18-25! It is impossible to erase those memories or attractions. I find my eyes wandering more often than I'd like to admit. It is very difficult, but the more you resist, the better off you'll be.

OMG this is so beautiful to hear. I've been saved for 13 years and haven't been in a relationship with a woman for about 15, and I've wrestled with still being attracted to women and it's been breaking my heart

God will demonstrate His grace however He sees fit. Sometime by removing the thorn entirely, sometimes not because He wants us to rely on it (His grace) as He said to Paul.
I think it's dangerous that some christians say homosexuals should no longer have the attraction when coming to Christ because either some feel unsaveable or misunderstand the gospel or oppositely end up on the progressive christians camp. "I tried to pray the gay away but it's still there therefore it is not wrong" type of thing.

Absolutely I wish someone had explained this to me. For a while I had the same thoughts if I felt this way for this long it cant be wrong...? But this confirms to me what I asked God about. He's telling me to live holy and accept his grace and have faith it is sufficient and He will always be there for me in times of need.

I have struggled with same-sex attraction since I was a kid.
I don't even remember well when I first had sex or when I got raped - 10 years old approx. But I know I could first speak about it when I was 19, which felt like I was born again (in a sense I felt dead all the previous years after that happened because I could not share that with nobody).
Hiding it was hard, so I thought I had to speak about that to heal.
I always had to deal with that by myself, because I thought I also did wrong (as a child) to have sex with the guy who raped me and I thought my parents would not understand it.
That's why I think parents should speak about sex with their kids. And create an environment where their kids feel safe to talk about anything related to sex with them. Otherwise, the world can teach it to them in a whole different way.
Christian songs have been part of my days since I first started going to evangelic Church (the same year I first was raped), they helped me a lot.
I confessed to JC as my savior and all. And I kept going to church.
One day my uncle died and I was praying to God differently, like seeking something higher.
That day I found out about the cross of Jesus (I was 13 approx), I was going to church at that time.
I "grew up in church" and started preaching in life groups for a few months.
But then, in high school, I stopped going to church and started having sexual experiences with older guys.
What I found funny is that Jesus showed me that in a dream all before, when I was still at church.
    [The Dream]
When I was faithful to church I had a dream that I was sleeping then I woke up and sat on my bed.
Then I looked ahead, and my parents started arguing about something, yelling at each other.
But suddenly they looked at me and seemed like they could not see me but stopped arguing and left the room.
I looked at the floor and saw lined candles on it, and there was a chain between them.
I followed them and the wall disappeared so the candles filled the floor in a line and I could not count how many.
Then I walked and was found in another place totally different. I was in front of a big house.
I entered the house and there were some couples there (straight people), I was with them but did not do anything with them.
They were drinking and hooking up.
But I left the house I thought It was not for me.
While I was leaving the house it was on fire, like I had to run so I would not get burned.
For that, I needed to walk up a hill but when I got there different men came in front of me and started touching my body but I did not move, like I had no reaction. And the men were of different ages.
So I woke up from the dream. It felt like something more than just a dream.
Since I was 15 I mostly avoided going to church, always giving reasons to justify myself.
I also started reading some books and watched videos on TH-cam (not like this one). Videos about the gospel in general, which always confronted me Because I was like I know all this stuff but my life is all against it. And I also felt like other people did not always get the bible as easily as I would. Which would make me wonder and question God.
During the last years, I have become more into pornography and same-sex hook-ups which made me choose not to go to church.
But over the years I have visited churches and prayed with other groups and at home sometimes. I have read some books that helped me a lot.
Since last year I started going to a church life group and even though I haven't been faithful to God, He has shown me His grace and favour.
The last weekend I was at church and the preacher asked me to go to her so she could pray for me.
She prayed and told me some stuff about my life.
The past few days I have seen that God's Spirit is changing me.
My identity is hidden in Him, I am His son and servant.
Our enemy has tried to change the truth about God's word so I did not trust God could change me on those sins.
"Moreover the law entered that the offense might abound. But where sin abounded, grace abounded much more, so that as sin reigned in death, even so, grace might reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." Romans 5:20-21
During the last week, I had a dream I was levitating in something I could not see well.
But it felt like it was sucking me into a dark thing I felt worse each moment. I knew I was going to hell and I could not even move to try to help myself and avoid it. It was scary.
But suddenly it stops sucking me, so I woke up.
God is giving me another chance because He loves me and wants to use me.
I have repented because I was going all my way trying to reach God my own way, while God is who found me when I simply let my guard down.
I have prayed to God to give me the courage I need to preach His Gospel and the love for His people. I need to preach with love.
Tomorrow I will turn 29 and it is time to dedicate my body and talents to my Creator and Lord, JC.
I hope this comment helps someone.
