    The most useful advice I can give you when you next travel to China, Oliver, is to learn just a few more simple words like Pork, Beef, Egg, Noodle, Rice, Chicken, 1 to 10 etc in Mandarin so that you know more or less what to order/eat in restaurants besides saying 'hello' and 'thank you'.

    A tip about power banks: shared power banks (or rental power banks) are literally everywhere-almost in all convenience stores, supermarkets, small street shops, restaurants, malls, etc., or simply at a stand in a corner somewhere. Of course, you must first learn what those rental machines look like to recognize them. Note that you don't necessarily have to return the power bank to the original place you rented it from. You can return it anywhere, as long as the power bank station belongs to the same brand. You can also find the locations of shared power banks on maps and the rental price is very affordable.

    1. If you are late at the airport or train station, you can skip the line and explain your situation directly to the staff, who will arrange for you to expedited security
    2. It's not just that you can't bring any drugs into China, as long as you have been using drugs recently, don't try to enter China, otherwise you will be fined and deported (which is probably the best result)

    Great tips , I can understand your frustrations on arrival , but preparation is the important issue , plenty of internet info re cash , WeChat , credit cards etc , hopefully people planning to go to China will watch your videos and other content to learn ! To avoid your issues .. one of the reasons there is so much security scanning before going on trains/ metro etc is that many of the local people are know for trying to take silly things like cans of petrol for their mowers on the metro , vpn is a great idea good tip .. I enjoyed your tips , there is a old westener saying “” when in Roman do as the Romans do” , I speak basic Mandarin but google translate is a good idea for those that don’t , as I have said before Chinese people love the fact that you try to speak in their language , it will go a long way to smooth the way .

Thank god my partner was smart enough to withdraw some cash (and had them changed to Chinese yuan) in Paris prior to our departure to China. As we hired private guide for the both of us on the ground, it was enjoyable for us since everything else was arranged for us.

      It is recommended that you use a savings card instead of a credit card, as only professional merchants accept Alipay's credit card payments, and many farmers, individuals, and small and medium-sized merchants do not use Alipay's commercial payment services, so they only accept the most guaranteed savings card settlements.

    For battery power:
    Bring fast chargers with you. Maybe one for your phone and another for your powerbank. If you eat in a streetside restraunt it's safe to ask them for letting you charge your phone. For a meal's time your phone will be fully charged.

    You are very brave. Despite all warnings from the medias not to take ‘risk’ coming to China , you did it.If your mobile phone has international roaming services in your country, then when you go to China, you can directly use your mobile phone to access social apps, including GG, APPLE MAP, and INS. Of course, it is best to buy a local SIM card + VPN in China so that you can upload videos to YT.China is a cashless society, all payments are by mobile phone, and only the elderly still use cash, so it is difficult to see ATMs now. Just activate ALIPAY + credit card binding and that's it.China’s territory is huge. From north to sorth, the culture, food, and customs of each province are different, so it’s fun to explore. There are 56 ethnic groups in China, and there are also Uighurs in Xinjiang.There are no guns, drugs, homeless people, LGBT, delinquents, thieves, or violence in China. It is a very safe country.

    • @oliverdadema
      @oliverdadema  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah, well the thing is, genders and gender neutrality has nothing to do with the LHBT people. Normal Lesbians, Gays, Bisexuals and Trans don’t all agree too these new gener rules. But the world is putting everything that has to do with genders and sexuality under the LGBT+ community, but this is wrong of course 😉

    • @muranosaki
      @muranosaki 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      China is more open-minded to lgbt than you think. If you pay a visit to big cities such as Shenzhen, Shanghai, Chongqing and especially Chengdu (which is renowned for its diversified culture and open-minded attitude to the lgbt community) you will find it is totally different from your previous stereotypes. Admittedly, elder generations are more stubborn as most of them believe everyone should get married with the opposite gender and have babies, whereas youngsters no longer take these rules for granted. There is actually quite many lgbt people in China. So feel free to explore more in China and it will definitely blow your mind. Plus, do not mention lgbt as criminals, after all they didn't offend anyone. Shame on your sexism.🙂
