    My mom had a Malibu that did the same thing. Tranny locked up and it was an issue with a weak battery. What you said about disconnecting the battery for an extended also works to reset it. Good video and good info. Thank you sir.

      @@RobertMacCready I went online to the Malibu forum and there were quite a few reports of this happening to the electronic transmissions. Unfortunately the car stayed stuck in reverse and the power would not shut off. Battery died. Towed on flat bed and dealer charged up battery and it went right into gear and did fine.

    I love my 2021 C8 HTC ... But man, there are a lot of "electronic" workarounds you need to be aware of. Yesterday, I had to figure out how to put the car in neutral for a flatbed tow. Oh ... I should mention I got the dreaded "service transmission" message and check engine light ... I had GM pick the car up rather than risk damage by driving it to the dealer. Suffice to say, unless you can start the engine to put the car in neutral, you'd better have a special tool, advance knowledge and patience to manually shift the Tremec into neutral should you need an emergency tow. Be warned C8 owners ... research putting the car in neutral before you have a roadside emergency where you have to push the car to safety.

    • @RobertMacCready
      @RobertMacCready  ปีที่แล้ว

      Let us know what the outcome is. Glad you were able to get it on the flatbed. Did you have a tow hook with ya?

    • @vettemaniac2237
      @vettemaniac2237 ปีที่แล้ว

      No tow hook. And the driver "freaked" when he saw the car. Asked me to drive it on and off the flatbed and then thanked me profusely for doing so. The front end lift system came in very handy!

    Looks like you’re living the dream!!! New Corvette, nice house in Florida, the golf cart for transportation around the village streets to pot luck dinners and bingo and drive it for a 18 holes at the local Country Club.
    I have a 2009 C6 that just turned over 7,000 miles and have a 2022 C8 ordered. I ordered the battery protection for the C8 and keep a Battery Tender on the C6. (Still love the C6 and hope to keep it instead of selling or trading it.)

    also my key fob works and doors, truck, hood open but won't start after 3 months of winter, im thinking it just needs a booster or battery charge, what do you think ?

    • @RobertMacCready
      @RobertMacCready  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Could be either. I'd change the battery in the fob and then get a charger. I think the charger, at a chevy dealer, is around $100. I would get the one chevy suggests as it will plug in to the receptacle in your front trunk/frunk.
      The one I have is a 12v unit. And I use it if the car sits for over a week or so. Let us know how it turns out for you.

    HI Robert, I lost track on how many Corvette’s you have owned over the years and very much enjoy your channel and all the knowledge you know about this car. I have a question regarding your opinion on a clear bra or ceramic coatings. Your cars always look beautiful and am wondering what products you use to keep it that way. Do you believe in putting a clear bra on the front of the car or ceramic coatings or do you use some kind of wax. Thank You 😊

    • @RobertMacCready
      @RobertMacCready  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I did ceramic coat my 2017 Z06. Did it with a hand applicator. Worked pretty good. On the C8,
      I go to a local "do it yourself" carwash. It has a spotless rinse selection that I really like. Then they have a blower selection and I use that to blow off most of the water. Then I use a microfiber towel to wipe what little water is left. As I''m doing this, I mist the car with Meguiars Ceramic Detailer. It helps pick up the water better and makes the car look great.
      I would not use a bra on my car. I just keep my distance from trucks. And I appreciate your kind words. This is my 20th Corvette.
