Brother Chris, why do you insist on SNOW and ice! Look at the footage from the night, the students stopped by police down the road, the Linda Lane footage of the Elantra making the passes around the area, and Maddie&Kaylee walking back from the food truck, the weather was clear, the ground clear, and footage was around 1:30 to 2:00 am, by which time they were ALL home at 1122! It snowed on 13th, much later on! BK didn't have to watch his footing because of ice, that is HOW I understand it. Thank you very much for your EXCELLENT coverage. It is good to watch this after other footage has since come to light. You can see how things fit together. According to the Linda Lane Cam footage of that night the suspect’s car did repeated circles around that area from around 3.35am and when he left after the deed at 4.22am you could hear the wheels spin in all that icy slush when he hightailed it out of there at speed. It isn’t just what you see on that Cam footage but what you hear as at that time there were almost no other cars and it was quiet.

Remember too, these young college kids are very socially active. They post a lot of what they do where they go, etc I am not placing blame. All I am saying is it can be very easy for a predator to learn their habits, know where they are, etc. It makes them very vulnerable!

The twins are back!! I wish I had become a criminologist rather than a registered nurse. We as nurses deal with the psyche as well but not enough. I’ve worked in a prison as a booking nurse which was so interesting but left due to my safety being breached by an inmate as I sat behind My desk to interview him. This is really good. One comment - Ethan was known to stay at the house. We have students at WSU and that has been consistent in the chatter. He had a room at his fraternity but stayed over with Xena commonly, especially on weekends. So anyone who knew the Vic’s or was just surveillance them would have factored him in. IMO.

As far as outside security cameras, etc., I agree. The owner should have installed more security lights and cameras.

I've just noticed on your video at 33.57 the crime scene tap is wrapped around existing fence posts, I know this is all easy in hindsight but by not maintaining the property boundary and refitting the fence (probably after the extension was built) has created an opportunity. Climbing over a 5-6ft fence would have been another obstacle.
I say this because it is a lesson we can all learn... especially as my daughter leaves for uni in the next couple of years.
I will be scouting her home away from home for this kind of thing now!

Fantastic fantastic discussion. By far the most in-depth analysis of this case.
Expanding on my question in the chat: I think something happened during those unaccounted 4 hours. I think Xana or Ethan or both were the target. Karlee was not even supposed to be there. She had already moved out and came to show her new car to Maddie. Very few people knew she was there. From the fret house, you can clearly see that house. Both built on hilltops and same level. It could be someone from Ethan’s circle. Ethan’s mother was the first to talk to the media to dispel rumors about a ‘love triangle’. I know it’s an unpopular opinion but I think Ethan was the target. Pure speculation , of course.

I don't think a voyeur could be constantly going to the house if he doesn't live closeby. It seems like much effort to go out of the way to peep on the girls. It could possibly be someone right there in the vicinity who knows the place very well and could easily make a getaway without being spotted. I just have an inkling that its someone in the neighborhood who knows that its a party house and 5 girls live there alone or even possibly someone who has been to the house numerous times. I think he didn't go down to the lowest level because he would have felt too cornered there and it could have impeded his getaway. I don't think this is a crime of opportunity, it seems very calculated.

I wonder if you might have already done a video on prevention for people who might not have self defense training and/or good instincts about bad situations and how to recognize signs of danger to unsuspecting people. I'm asking for a friend... who is me. :)

I would look for a local ex military male early 20s to 25 possible discharge due to discipline or psych issues who lives or works in this area. It's colds still so he wears gloves while out In town or shopping as to hide his many lacerations on his hands. He doesn't live alone but possibly with elderly parents he may care for and has his own private area in the home where he can change clothes and clean up and probably burned. Also he knows one of them very well and the dog they have, may possibly be a dog owner as well. He lives locally. Finally I feel for sure he was at that corner bar that evening and was rejected by two of the girls. This was spur of the moment crime of anger but perp had great knowledge of home and local residences. I am quite suprised residents in town have not given persons of interest to FBI to check out. He's hiding in plain sight I know it.

Why are we not hearing more about the 5 hour GAP in timeline for Xana and Ethan? Seems to be very important to me.

Also, IMO, the overkill and the sloppy crime scene are indicative of a crime by someone known to the victims. Very personal and passionate, whether it was romantic, anger, hurt, humiliation or another emotion. I’m saying someone known to victims.

I wouldn't fee safe living on the 2nd floor of that house. The back side is supposedly pitch black at night and you won't be able to see if there is someone loitering back there. Some kind of light post should have been installed back there. A sliding glass door is not exactly the most secure entrance. It's too easy for strangers to walk right up to the sliding glass door. I think the sliding door was installed there in conjunction with a patio type area that would enhance the property value.

In hindsight, the house certainly looks like an easy target. The elevated position and big windows would have acted as a “movie screen” for all to see inside.
