While listening to Rep Foxx I couldn't help but remember the Key and Peele episode of Obama's Anger Management Translator. I wish there was a translator for congress persons like her who simply say, "Please stop voting for me. I'm too stupid not to continue showing up and too incompetent to do much of anything that makes a positive difference."

I know, right? It's not just the weird Santa drinks milk thing, it's that everyone with a grain of sense should know that low-fat milk contains the same amount of calcium and protein as whole milk. Otherwise, we'd be serving butter instead of steak.

I hated the “Got Milk” campaign when I was in school. I got yelled at for 2 hours by a lunch lady when I was 10 because I wouldn’t take and drink a milk. The principal, who was a friend of my mom, had to go explain to the lunch lady that I was lactose intolerant and she needed to leave me alone. She then took me for chicken nuggets since the lunch lady didn’t give me lunch. Other milks are just as good, better even if you can’t drink milk.
The reason milk is pushed on students in our schools is because our government is controlled by lobbyists - in this case the dairy industry.
She wouldn't FEED you because you wouldn't drink milk? Doesn't that defeat her entire point? "You're not getting any milk nutrition so I'm giving you none whatsoever."

I was convinced the whole milk bill was a joke bill to end the year on, until they got to the part of the speech where they compared the ark to the titanic. I'm becoming more and more convinced our whole system needs an overhall.
Funny thing is she's sitting there carrying on about the nutrients of milk, and Yup milk has lots of protein and nutrients, but taking out half the fat, means that one cup of milk has EVEN MORE of that protein and magnesium etc., since there's less fat in that 1 cup....

Overhaul
By passing this milk bill, which is totally important and definitely not a distraction, the republicans have made their congress only the second most ineffective conference in American history - the last time being almost 100 years ago, with a congress that didn't sit for 9 months out of the year.
Pretty sure they did it specifically so people couldn't say they passed as many bills as the most ineffective congress in history

This is a reallly, really imporant point. When I was growing up in the 1980s, the news would literally report on bills that were passed or not by Congress. These illiterate thugs are purposefully undermining the wheels of government because they don't care about serving the people, they care about keeping power. Think about that.

The most offensive part of that whole milk debacle wasn't that the congresswoman was conjuring up a fictional character to expound on milk's benefits, it was that she was waxing about every component of milk *except* the milkfat that's the only thing distinguishing whole milk from the already-allowed lower-fat varieties, and trusting that her audience wouldn't notice the glaring omission.
And it wasn't for lack of material - she could have easily talked about how the fat in whole milk is what makes Santa's belly jiggle like a bowl full of jelly. Not so eager to go there, though, are you, Ms. Foxx?
Or better the fat in whole milk helps santa to maintain his insulating blubber from those cold winter nights

You know that human fat tissue is mostly made of converted carbohydrates, right? To dumb it down a bit, sugar makes people fat, not animal fat.

In the beginning he gave basic sound advice on health, and he was an extremely successful surgeon with charisma and people skills that made him uniquely great for TV. Scoff at that if you want, but I'm talking about someone who could take a squeamish but vital subject like bowel health and make it palatable .... okay maybe wrong adjective there, ew ..... make it entertaining and memorable, to an audience of people accustomed to paying through the nose for precious few minutes with doctors, many of whom are the uncomfortable product of Aspberger's and privilege, just want to roll their eyes at your concerns and write you a prescription, NEXT. Dr. Oz's advice was easy to understand and stuff you could do for free.
But there's only so much basic sound advice that applies to wide audiences, so when he got his own show, it turned into a sh show of goofy placebo effect strategies and product endorsements. And by the time he became a Republican politician, it was clear to me (and clearly clear to Oprah) that he could no longer be considered someone who wants the nation to all be healthy. By the Republican model, America would be like Victorian England, with the masses dying in filthy streets of easily-treatable illnesses, and the privileged sequestered safely away so they don't even have to hear it or smell it.
I'm not a Socialist; I have no problem with a system that allows someone to be rich, especially if they built their wealth from the bottom via hard work and/or talent. What I can't abide is mf's who either became or were born rich, and upon living in the clouds, want to pull the ladder too far above the water line to even hold onto to avoid drowning, never mind climb up and ask them to scoot over and make room.

I am asking why is she popular to begin with? Like why was her daytime talk show so popular? When I've seen it in the past it felt more patronizing than anything. If she would've prefaced every segment with "you're the most basic form of woman in the lowest common denominator, right? well you'll love this!' It would've been accurate every single time.

The difference between whole milk and 2%, 1% or non-fat milk is the amount of milk fat found in the milk. The protein and the other nutrients are the same.

Seeing Stephen throw those tickets I felt such a wave of relief- he is healing fine. Yesterday when Jason Mamoa (the human version of a huge puppy who is not aware of his size and wants to play) hugged him during the rescue dog segment and Stephen got protective of his abdomen, I got worried that maybe he came back a bit too soon. I’m glad he is doing better.

I think it didn't used to be like this, until Reagan got rid of the Fairness Doctrine which made it a requirement for news to report factual news and present every side, rather than completely making shit up on Fox News and telling half the country that Fox News is the only truth.
It been a badge of honour to have the attitude of "they're all crooks and liars anyway" among the working class for decades, justifying an unwillingness to engage with politics. That's been actively promoted by various politically motivated organizations, such that community born, grass roots movements are reflexively villianized before dialogue even begins. The US gen pub has an aversion to taking on responsibility, a luxury only the citizens of a world leading empire ever have.
It's already led the United States elite to push the country into multiple self injurious conflicts (not only wars, but various disputes) that its own citizens are directly hurt by, usually along with some other "foreign" nationals, for the interests of this selfish ruling class-- and the people don't care. The latest version of this "politics is pointless", imo has largely been the purpose of pushing the pseudo-culture war.
Political Education, Social Education and Emotional Education are non existent, let alone the poor state of the general public education system and (specifically) sexual education.

We do feed our kids free breakfast and lunch.
Where I live, supermarkets donate food they would otherwise throw away (cause it's not sold that day) to a charity that distributes it to a range of charities that operate programs such as kids school breakfast programs, soup kitchens, refuges, homeless shelters etc etc, therefore reducing food waste, while feeding those in need, with a particular focus on kids (I live in Australia btw, charity is "Ozfarm")
