Thanks for this video --- I'm having kind of a rough time lately with anxiety and low-level depression. I don't feel great about it all, it's a happiness sucker. I haven't figured my "Feel Good Routines," but I'm working on it.
Does anyone else watch these to fall asleep? So relaxing and I never cease to be amazed at the beauty of Svalbard in every season. It is just breathtaking!
Spending time with Cecilia, Christoffer and Grim always leaves me with this calm, peaceful feeling. The scenery there is just so stunning, something about Svalbard just calls to me and if i could, I'd hop onto a plane right now to see it for myself! I dont know what it is, it gives me this feeling of longing to be there, of familiarity and home. One day I hope I do get to see it for myself. Wonderful vlog, Cecilia!!
Thank you Christoffer, my Hubby and I differ on this, he in bed by 11pm, me I’m late person so my 8 are different than his. I’m trying to add some weight to my workout to reduce my stress, as we deal with what our Dr. Is calling Long Covid symptoms for my hubby. Some thing you can get after you had Covid even if it’s a mild case which we did in 1/2022, can come out months later. 🥰
Before my husband passed away last August, I was used to walking 6 miles a day or more. It's been a rough go getting back into it due to emotions, stress, and a rather nasty stomach ulcer. I am easing back into it after learning to make my health a priority. I use a Pilates workout for strength.
Hi Cecilia , I have watched and liked all of your videos but for some reason this one ☝🏽 really hit home for me! I have never commented before but today I felt compelled to do so. Your transparency and honesty is like a breath of fresh air! I lost my husband 6 yrs ago and I felt like all the energy had drained out of my life!! Since I’ve started watching your videos I am feeling a renewal of spirit because you’ve shown me what change and adjusting can do for one’s life when faced with some difficulties!! I now walk everyday and even go to dinner by myself!! I appreciate every new sunrise 🌄 and sunset 🌅 I see!! Thank you 🙏🏽🥰🤟🏽🤟🏽
Cecilia, I liked hearing that you happily speak of having a small friendship group. I have always enjoyed my own company and I also have to push myself sometimes to connect with others. I love the company of several close friends but I equally value my daily interactions with the people in my community whose lives and livelihoods interact regularly with mine. These incidental relationships are so valuable and form the fabric of community life through a shared location and daily experiences.
Hi Cecilia. I highly recommend you get blackout shades for all your windows. As night approaches ( according to time), lower them so your body thinks it is time for night. Have them raise when the sun should come up. 😊
I've always been surprised she doesn't have them - especially because she talks about how hard midnight sun is on her circadian rhythm every year. Maybe they're hard to get a hold of up there?
Christopher's advice is very sound. But it does raise a question. Watching your videos, I've always found it strange you have regular curtains even though you live through these extreme season. I live in London and used to struggle to sleep full nights during summer because too much light would seep through the South facing windows and refract into my bedroom in the early morning. To address that, I installed blackout blinds onto the windows. In combination with heavy curtains, these cut out almost all of the light. Being able to spend 8 hours/day in a nearly complete dark room really helps with sleep.
I have found yoga to be my go to thing. I suffer from bad anxiety and fibromyalgia. Yoga has helped me like no medication has. I am committed to staying strong being I am in my 60's. I really enjoy your videos. The scenery is gorgeous.
Summers are the worst, it’s rarely relaxing and the weather is too hot to do anything. I get summer depression because of how long the days get, it’s so draining. I can’t imagine living with constant daylight!
Here in Costa Rica we are about 10 degrees from the equator. Residents carry umbrellas and parasols during both of our seasons, summer and winter or rainy season. We are in the 80's all year round. Our favorite activity to refresh is to hike to a waterfull and dip in the cool water. We always find friends there and we talk and laugh. It is so uplifting for all. Thank you for showing us your beautiful country. I love to look at the mountains and did live on one. But I don't like heights. We are below sea level here and that's where I will stay!!
Hi I grew up on 70°40′N 52°08′V .. (Uummannaq - Greenland) .. I almost feel exotic knowing that you are a bit further north. I miss the winters. I live at night here in Europe. I guess thats a habit I got from my youth up there. I first discovered your channel a few days ago searching for places we're I might be able to write songs next year. Who knows, your area look cool. Be safe :-)
102 in northeast Washington state. So hot next couple of days. I love the way y'all converse with each other. The music is always perfect. Thank you so much for sharing your life.
That’s a phenomenon when it feels warmer even though the temperature is lower. Think of it like the sun shining directly on your head vs shining at you from the side and heating more area of your body.

My love of 46 years and I love your channel and look forward to every video! Our son is a chef who attended the Culinary Institute of America. Christopher’s skills are indicative of an educated chef! Your morning white outfit was stunning! I turn 70 next April. You and Christopher exemplify our love. Greetings from upstate NY!
Christoffer is a man in every sense of the word. You compliment each other soo well. Hope 30 yrs from now to see you 2 sitting on a porch somewhere with little Grim great grandchildren running around 😊
Christopher is so right about getting enough sleep but not paying attention to when you are sleeping, I feel like that will relieve a lot of stress and help you sleep better
You are so right about moving your body and getting outside to help with mental health. I've been on my journey with it for a few years now, and it's been frustrating... because for so long I couldn't figure out the things that triggered my anxiety. It would happen seemingly randomly. But over time, I started to see a correlation between me being active, and a reduction in panic episodes. It may not be that way for everyone, but for me, that was it. I didn't want to believe it because it seemed too simple, but I can't argue with the evidence. Glad you are doing well -- we got this!
Hello Cecília ,another great video!!!❤ May I sugest a video on Christoffer 's opinion on how he deals with the polar nights and the summer season! How it afects on him? Because he seams to be very well balanced!!! 😀
This is so foreign and interesting to me. I’m a Texan (USA) and we are in the dog days of summer (upper 90’s and 100’s farenheit). I’m 62 and spend an average of about 8 hours working on my 1 acre lawn each weekend. I think I feel like you did after your recent race lol. I’m enjoying your videos immensely. Christoffer and you (and Grim) lead interesting lives. Best of luck to you.
As a Brazilian who used to live near the Equator line in Brazil and now lives in Australia (Victoria), I can guarantee that the sun rays there are harsher than in temperate regions, at least.
I started walking after years of in pain with lower back ,I am going slow ,but I am moving I do most days 5 miles a day that is saying something when I could not even walk past my neighbors house in severe pain . I am beginning to find a new me. I thought I had to walk fast as in the past or I was not accomplishing anything, but my specialist told me no as long as I am moving ! I have awful insomnia & always thought I had to go to bed at a set time at night ,but sleep never comes for those hours . I need to start to get up & read & when sleep comes it comes no mater what the time I am so happy you said that . Thank you for your videos Have a lovely day !
So glad to see you feeling better in your body and your mind, and appreciate just the realness of you. I like to start my day with stretches in my back yard in bare feet just connecting with the earth and sky. Living in Hawaii makes that pretty pleasant. Then it's time for yoga and guided mindfulness meditation on the back porch and time for coffee and chatting with my favorite people (they are all in different time zones)on Marco Polo. Just retired after 47 years of doing X-ray imaging, so I get to decide what I want to do or not do with my day! I go to a beautiful beach to swim 3 days a week, and go for walks 3 days. I like to take Saturday OFF! I LOVE to watch you make coffee especially on the boat😊❤.
What a wonderful life you and Christoffer have made in your beautiful arctic paradise. To live so peaceful and so close to nature in all its glory-from fierce to tranquil- you have captured how to be at one with the world and how to appreciate it every single day. All of your advice was so spot on-similar to my own wellness journey this past year. I especially love long walks just taking in the breathtaking sky and hearing the birds just puts me in the best frame of mind to tackle the rest of my day. Love from Michigan, USA❤ kisses to Grimm🥰😘
Intuitive sleeping is my method. It used to be typical to have two sleeps a few hundred years ago. I tried CBT-I (cognitive behavioural therapy for insomnia) which is what you used to do by restricting your sleep. It made things worse for me. Thankfully I trust myself more than experts and didn’t do that for long. I still have other that things going on that can limit my sleep but for the most part I am rested. OMG That sandwich looks delicious! 😋😋😋
When I was in college I was very stressed and anytime I had winter break or spring break I would bake bread from scratch. Kneading bread dough was very relaxing. In one weeks time I would fill the freezer with 17 loaves of bread, enough to sustain myself and family with homemade bread until the next break from college. I baked sourdough from my own starter, oatmeal, whole wheat, and rye bread, oatmeal was my favorite.
My feel good activity is writing (I self-published 4 books). But that can get overwhelming too, since I have to be online often. Walking is another. Playing with my son. Animals. Just being. 💜💜 Hope you're doing well!
I’m a trainer in the UK & love your sensible approach to your health & fitness goals. So many don’t realise that moving every day just makes life easier & the day to day activities are less taxing. The most important thing is to find what you enjoy & do it consistently. Love your chilled videos 😊
In Svalbard, a sunny day can be very intense because of the clean dry air and the reflective water. I can get more tanned in the arctic than the tropics.
Hi, Cecilia. Love your videos and hope to visit Svalbard in the near future. I lived in the Canadian Arctic, on Baffin Island, and covered 14 Baffin communities for my work, from Sanikiluaq down on Hudson Bay to Resolute and Grise Fiord in the High Arctic, Grise Fiord being the northenmost community in Canada (Alert, which is further north, is a military base with no civilian population). To mitigate the light problem during the summer we had panels of plywood cut to the size of the windows and covered them in tinfoil to simulate the night. That worked pretty well. But in the winter, the best thing was exposure to those lights that simulate the sun. I even had a hydroponic garden in my home. From your videos,I gather that life in the Canadian Arctic is similar to Svalbard to a certain extent, with the main difference being that we have a native population, used to living in this climate for thousands of years. Hey, I even learned to speak Inuktitut. Keep up the good work.
I started watching your videos in December 2021. I was on leave and was trying to come to terms over the horrible death of my 2 year old cat. Your videos brought me comfort and watching you and Grim together helped me. Thank you so much for opening your world to us ❤
Many parts of the world are in extreme heat right now including our country Philippines, that's why I always watch your videos every night, imagining I'm in your place and it makes me feel happy, thanks for always uploading🤩🤩🤩
Cecilia, mahalo for sharing yalls life with us. I have recently stumbled upon yalls channel and I cannot get enough. The positive vibes, inspiration and happiness is truly felt and embraced. I appreciate y’all and love following y’all all the way from Honolulu! 🤙
I love this video so much you did so much to help me think about this. This is what I’m trying to do this summer. I live in very rural Oregon. My life is very similar to yours with the isolation and extreme rural environment and climates. And I need to push myself to get out on the hikes when my friends not available and keep my dogs happy as well and go to the gym to be a little bit connected with people. We have a tiny gym here not much but it’s still a good little gym so glad you made this video. It’s been so inspiring and supportive. Good to see Christopher out there too!
Seriously, can Christopher write a Svalbard cookbook? After watching your videos, I found the brown, sweet cheese that you put on waffles and I’m in love with it! I never would’ve thought to even look for it much less buy it for myself. Watching him prepare food is so interesting and I would love to try some of his recipes.
Watched it for the 2nd time (the next day). Can't get enough of the beauty and reassuring calmness of it. Literally everything in this video is beautiful (even the ads. lol). I guess, it's safe to say, Cecilia is my new best friend☺
I am so fascinated by your lifestyle and where you chose to live. It is beautiful during all seasons and breathtaking!! Thank you for showing us different cultures and your beautiful living on Svalbard!!❤❤❤
6:30 I've heard that close to the poles the sun feels harsher because its closeness to the horizon causes more of your body's surface area to get covered in sunlight. It's like how a diagonal shower covers your body more than a vertical one.
Been waiting for this. Hope you and Christoffer are well. My best feel good routine is taking my dogs for a walk everyday on the beach. Cecilia you are right, being in nature really resets the mind, especially when we can get overwhelmed with the day to day busyness.
OMG Cecilia! If I even tried to do half the exercises you do I'd be in traction for a month. 🤣 Kudos to you for looking after yourself and your well being the way you do!
Just found your channel and I am addicted! Being a native of Florida (the deep south of the USA) I love your Tractor Supply and Bass Pro Shop baseball caps! Two true "southern" staples!
Bass Pro Shop hat! How did that make it Svalbard? I'm glad you have course corrected & feel better. I'm in a situation in which I am making changes - I am only making a few at a time so I can work on them to become habits. Too many changes and I feel so scattered. I watched a movie yesterday, Arctic Void, shot on Svalbard and Pyramiden. I recognized the town because of your video!
I thoroughly enjoy your videos. The views are breathtakingly beautiful. And I swear- Grim is the most beautiful dog I’ve ever seen. I would love to hug and kiss him!
Hi! Fellow creator from the mainland here. This video was interesting to me in particular. As creators we do live a different lifestyle than ppl with other jobs and I totally feel what you say. Working with social media makes it so easy to end up scolling (as I'm obviously doing right now haha). So far I haven't managed to "get my work done and then leave" and do other stuff I like. It's so difficult and I feel "not productive" if I'm not in front of the screen. Even if that means, that I'm just mindlessly scrolling... So my big goal for the year is to get that in order. Now I said it. maybe that'll help. Hope to be able to visit Svalbard soon. Maybe next year!
Season Affective Disorder is SO REAL which you’d think ANYONE who’s opened their vertical window blinds the wrong way or wished they hadn’t worn black on the wrong day would notice. Sometimes I cannot even wear black underwear because it kills my mood.
Hi. I live in Texas. Your vlog was so relaxing, and the views were breathtaking. I agree with all of your relaxation tips, and I have included decluttering my home to live in a simple and not cluttered environment. I just subscribed. Thanks.
My stress relieving is watching TH-cam vlogs (that I’m subscribed to), listening to my play list on pandora, and watching some tv shows (free on Pluto tv); I used to go out and walk around, but wayyyyyyy too much stress coming back home.
I really needed to hear all this. I agree about needing and prioritizing exercise before work... maybe not everyone is the same but my mental health is not the same when I neglect exercise first thing in the morning before starting other things. Thank you for this video!!!
My escapes are reading, walking in nature (where I am, that is Prospect Park in Brooklyn, or by the waterfront), and hanging out with my nephews (12 and 8yo). If I was allowed in my apartment, I would have a dog. They are love and extraordinary at relieving stress.
I also made daily exercise before working a priority starting this summer - love this! (It's so nice to have the work flexibility to do that.) Love your thoughtful approach to your daily life.
Hello Cecilia! Luckily I live in a valley, Susa Valley, not so far from Turin, the main city, and our temperatures are a "little bit" lower than inTurin, where they have 34 degrees Celsius. I love cold weather and when I watch your videos i would like to be on Svalbards! Thank you very much for this beautiful video. Grimm is always so cute.
I agree that getting out of the house after working from home is very difficult. I now have a new large puppy and we walk 1.5 to 2 miles every morning. 😁
Svalbard looks like absolute heaven. I wish my body could handle cold temperatures. I would move there in a heartbeat. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home and life with us.
Hello Cecilia....side note to this video...that I thought might be helpful to you and Christoffer. I noticed you have black out drapes in your bedroom which can be helpful in coaxing your body to shut down for sleep but they still let light in. Having been a shift worker in for a large American Aerospace company for over 30 years, I learned a trick from my pilot friends who flew in Alaska (moving freight and fish around the Aleutians). I use tin foil to totally darken my room making my bedroom conducive to a good night's rest and not letting day light interfere with my sleep rhythm. The only down side to this is not seeing any daylight in one's bedroom in Artic Summer. Just a thought for you and Christoffer as it's very effective.
Eating breakfast with that backdrop of Svalbard mountains....priceless 💙 59 degrees F is my happy temperature.Thank you for another engaging video Cecilia. Loved your list. I must make a schedule and stick to it. I was injured and can't do my regular workout right now but that doesn't mean I can't do something. Thank you and Namaste 🤩💖💫 hugs for Grim and Christoffer. Love you 3 together.
Our lives are the “polar” opposites. I live in the California desert 🌵 near Palm Springs. Right now everyday is over 110°F. Too hot to walk the dogs unless I walk them super early in the morning (4-5 am). But our winter is absolutely beautiful! However I do agree with your video. Same items are important wherever we are in the world. I do love your content!!! ❤❤❤
This was the first time I noticed you don’t have trees up there! I live in a place where trees don’t grow natively, but people planted trees and idk how I feel about it. It’s beautiful there though!
This is so much needed for me right now. Going through a stressful patch and seeing others go through it and changing helps a mega ton. Thanks for this upload!
Take it easy and don't worry too much... Easier said than done, I know, but not impossible. Everything will work out fine in the end and even if it doesn't... It's fine! Sending you strength
Great video. Thank You! I immediately get a smile on my face when I see a new video has been uploaded. You are so inspiratonal. Love you guys. It is in the triple digits here in Texas - yuck! Have a beautiful Sunday.
I really feel you on this one! We only get a few hours of full darkness in the summer. It's so hard to follow a schedule when you are constantly waking up and going to bed in daylight. I love the sun while I'm up but the sleep part is rough...
Hi Cecilia, just wanted to say how much I enjoyed “Stoner”, thank you so much for the recommendation. I studied literature to degree level but don’t tend to read much fiction these days, thank you for helping to renew my interest in it.
The sun is only directly above the equator during the spring and autumn equinoxes. During summer time in the northern hemisphere, the sun is actually closer to higher latitudes (around the 23 degree mark), due to the tilt of the Earth's axis. Same reason you have midnight sun!
I loved this video! As another professional who works from home, it's so easy to continually prioritize work. Where is the work life balance? You're nailing it. Keep on keepin' on.
My favorite feel good things are going outside and watering garden in the PNW morning sun. Also eating wild sockeye salmon with cucumber chips and Mayo. Hugging my grandchildren and appreciating my handsome Lab/great Pyrenees doggy.
I like you take an assessment of your self when changing seasons. I think I will incorporate this moving forward. Every season is different and we may need to adjust our wellness goals.

Where did you get your green workout gear from?
Is great body
New here. Loved this video.
Just wanted to ask why did you move here? Like for work or?
Does Longyearbyen have a good library? Is there a bookstore?
Have a good week!

Sending best wishes to you on taking care of you, it’s hard to dig our way out when your heart hurts. Blessings to you and be kind to yourself.

It's so hot in mainland Europe rn that I just feel cooler watching your videos.
At this rate all of mainland Europe is going to move to Svalbard and get a Grimm 🐺 😅
It is so hot in Europe, Spain is humid and hot, I love these videos
It's supposed to be a hundred and five degrees here in tucson, arizona in the u s a
At least you’re not in Tennessee. It’s 95 degrees and humid every day in the summer 😅
@@PS-lv1mr yes that would be worse. I hope you stay cool and safe
Wow! To share a meal outside on the deck with that view is LIFE!!
I need to bookmark this episode and watch it over and over for all the great motivation. Thank you.

I stayed in an apartment in Svalbard in June with no thick curtains. Solution was a t shirt over my eyes.

So cute when your hats bumped when you went to kiss 😂 Hugs Cecilia, Christoffer and Grim ❤
I agree about reading Cecilia. It's a perfect escape. Oh yes, we agree about coffee as well. Have a peaceful evening everyone.
Yes yes yes
I was thinking that myself, I hate food but his stuff looked fantastic
Try the brown cheese on sandwiches with either strawberry jam or a tart jam, it's soo good!!!
@@aaronm51921I can’t even fathom a hatred of food.
I loved making waffles with the cheese and lingonberry preserves but haven't been able to buy the cheese again I miss that deliciousness lol
Watched it for the 2nd time (the next day). Can't get enough of the beauty and reassuring calmness of it. Literally everything in this video is beautiful (even the ads. lol). I guess, it's safe to say, Cecilia is my new best friend☺
Christopher really gives meaning to the strong and silent type! ❤
Your videos are always so refreshing and I mean that literally! Watching from Arizona where it’s currently 115😅
Christoffer rocking a Tractor Supply hat, I have the same one! Greetings from South Carolina.
The calmness ur videos brings to my mind is beyond words, this is my dream life.
I watched it yesterday also! They put such a creepy feel to Svalbard, so unlike the one we know through Cecilia.
Your channel is my favourite. I always watch it before I go to bed.
15:00. I totally agree with your comments. I love going to another place through books.
I would love to do a summer holiday to Svalbard! I find the UK to warm after 23/24 degrees c. Long summer days but cooler temperatures sounds amazing
Thanks.
Cecilia, what a beautiful video. Everything about it is just beautiful to watch.
Some of those scenes when climbing the hill made me think that ‘this is probably what people 500 years ago would have seen’. It’s like another planet!
Seeing the meals you eat gives me so much inspiration! Thank you for sharing them being made!
Boy Christoffer that food looks delicious……and what beautiful scenery…thank you
My stress relieving is watching TH-cam vlogs (that I’m subscribed to), listening to my play list on pandora, and watching some tv shows (free on Pluto tv); I used to go out and walk around, but wayyyyyyy too much stress coming back home.
“I do love me a good plan.” You should make T-shirts with some of your quotes on them! I’d buy that one in multiple colors!
Honestly having such a rough day. I needed this ❤ thank you Cecilia!
Sitting on the porch with your background looks like you’re on a cruise ship! So beautiful
Maintaining positive routines even when life gets chaotic is such hard work, and so important to my physical and mental health!
Loved this
This is so much needed for me right now. Going through a stressful patch and seeing others go through it and changing helps a mega ton. Thanks for this upload!
Take it easy and don't worry too much... Easier said than done, I know, but not impossible. Everything will work out fine in the end and even if it doesn't... It's fine! Sending you strength
@@elenisiopi2033 Thank you! This means so much to me!
So happy you are doing all possible to get physical activity in! Its super important and people just dont seem to do it enough! 😃
Sun so strong there, I imagine, from reflection from ice-capped mountains and all the water surrounding.
so chill :) really appreciate your videos.
I appreciate that! 😍
I am so looking forward to coming to Svalbard in my wheelchair in September.
Stoner is one of the most beautiful book I've ever read, so deep and powerful...
I Love the scenery and seeing the changes in the weather there. You're videos are great 👍 👌
Watching TH-cam is what makes me happy.
I like you take an assessment of your self when changing seasons. I think I will incorporate this moving forward. Every season is different and we may need to adjust our wellness goals.
