  • Hi everyone,
I’m currently on a road trip through Scandinavia with my 2015 Skoda Octavia MK3 1.6 TDI (81kW), and I've run into a bit of a problem. While driving on a very bumpy forest road, my car started making a high-pitched sound that’s now persistent. This noise was something I used to hear briefly when I turned the ignition to the first position before starting the engine, but now it’s constant.
Here’s a summary of what happened and what I’ve observed:
    1. **Road Conditions**: The issue started after driving on a very rough, bumpy forest road.
    2. **Sound Location**: The high-pitched sound is coming from the rear of the car, not the engine compartment.
    3. **Ignition Behavior**: Normally, when turning the ignition to the first position, I would hear this sound for a few seconds (which I assume is the fuel pump priming). Now, the sound persists when the engine is running.
    4. **No Error Codes**: The car is not showing any error codes and appears to be driving normally from what I can tell.
    5. **Sound with Ignition On**: When I turn the ignition to the first position now, the typical sound that I used to hear is absent.
Here’s what I’ve done so far:
    - Stopped at the nearest parking area and turned off the engine.
    - Checked for any visible issues around the rear of the car but couldn’t find anything obvious.
I suspect it might be related to the fuel pump, especially since the noise I’m hearing now matches the one I used to hear briefly when turning the ignition on. Given that we have thousands of kilometers ahead of us, I’m quite anxious about this issue.
Has anyone experienced something similar or have any advice on what might be going wrong? Any tips on how to diagnose or fix this issue would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks a lot for your help!
