Truth be told , gossip girl should have ended after season five. The entirety of season six was nothing but character regression. I hate what they did to Dan character. I hate what they did with Nate character, having him date all these different women just to end up with a 17-year-old???!!!! And Blair and Chuck pretty much went back to exactly who they were in season one…. I will never understand how anybody likes Dan and Serena. Especially when they first got together because they kept getting mad at each other for lying to each other. Serena would lie, Dan would get mad, then Serena would eventually tell the truth. And Dan would forgive her. It was literally the same back-and-forth the entire time they first got together; really anytime that they got together. Mainly Serena doing the lying. I think Serena should’ve ended up single for a change. Especially since they ended up making Dan gossip girl…….

I feel like Serena and Dan were always going to be endgame no matter what. I feel like the writers kind of threw them around the joint the last 4 seasons with the random partners just to fill the space. Their chemistry was so good in seasons 1- 3, because well they were dating in real life I guess, but after you can kind of feel tension when they had romantic scenes which obviously wouldn’t be easy with their breakup. But I do agree that their chemistry and love was just so good that it kept you rooting for them till the very end. And I’ve been saying this for ages about Blair!! Them dating just ruined this deep and intellectual friendship they had and we knew they weren’t going to last because the writers were always gonna make Chuck and Blair as well as Serena and Dan endgame! The writing got real sloppy after season 1 ngl but never the less I’ll keep rewatching HAHAHHA
I will fight for Dan and Blair together: i despise the usual course of the show that basically matches every male character with every female character soon or later, BUT Dan and Blair made sense if you think about it. It was nice that Blair softened up with Dan and they actually had many things in common and shared interests (unlike Chuck and Blair), it felt like Dan brought the best out of blair and she made him more secure of himself. I really dislike how little they lasted because the writers just wanted to go back to the clear OG couples (chuck x blair and serena x dan), i'm disappointed that not only we never got a proper break up, but even their friendship seemed to disappear into thin air afterwards, because Blair goes back treating him badly...idk so much wasted potential, but overall i despise the last two seasons of gossip girl from the bottom of my heart
I hate that even the friendship died, Dan was so mad at Blair that he disappeared.. but when he came back he clearly was still into her and was literally wanting to get her back still but 5 episodes later he was all of the sudden in love with Serena again? Bizarre.

With Blair that didn’t exist, Dan saw all the flaws as they been around each other for years so they build a friendship out of pure intellect and common interest so when the relationship progressed Dan knew what to expect from Blair and Blair tried to be better. I think the ending was so horrible due to lack of time, I would understand Dan and Serena being end game if they actually spent the time showing how Dan fell back in love with her and how they worked on building an actual solid foundation but all we got was Serena chasing Dan since season 4 because she realized he did not idolized her anymore and her coming back to him when he was still in loved with someone else 4 episodes earlier lol

Later in the S2, Serena is jealous yet again, and takes an incriminating picture of Dan with his professor, Rachel Carr, ruining his life again. In S3, Serena chooses to complicate things by picking her biological father, William (who never wanted anything to do with her and abandoned her when she was four) over Rufus (who tried his best to care about her as if she were his own daughter). In S4, Dan chooses to explore a friendship and possible relationship with Blair instead of Serena. In S5, Serena (instead of doing the mature thing and having a conversation with him) manipulates Dan and ruins his opportunity to turn his book into a movie. Later in S5, Serena tricks Dan into fake dating, secretly playing to get him back. Dan gets upset when he realizes Serena is manipulating them into being together again at Blair's wedding. Serena, knowing she needs to trap Dan somehow, tells him she loves him when clearly she just doesn't want anyone else to have him. Serena also gets Dan drunk at a bar, bumps a waitress so they both get wet, and gets him to go with her alone. Serena then preys on Dan's hurt feelings by not only revealing that Blair chose Chuck, she also films herself having sex with Dan without his consent. Serena does it on purpose, knowing it's the perfect way to ruin any possible reconciliation between Blair and Dan. In S6, Serena and Dan forgiving each other and ending up together made no sense. Serena was always toxic and attracted drama, always playing the victim card with everything.
Blair at 4?!!! Their relationship was the only healthy one on the whole show! I feel like you’ve ranked the relationships based on the drama they brought to the show and just ignored really toxic aspects of the relationships. For example Chuck and Blair was literally an abusive relationship… as was Serena and Dan!
I am such a big dair fan and one of the few, I personally would out them at number one. I know there are some who think they are problematic, but weren’t all the couples a little problematic. Out of the main cast, I think they were the healthiest even with their flaws. But the rest of the list, I agree with.

I agree with your rankings for the most part. Honestly, I'd probably just switch the top 3 around. I would probably have Vanessa and Dan at number 1 because like I said in the Vanessa video I really liked their friendship and I liked that it turned into a romance and I think they would have been so great together if Serena wasn't in the picture. I would've been all for Vanessa and Dan being endgame. Then for number 2 I'd probably put Dan and Olivia because I think they would have been really great together as well and I kinda wish that was explored further. Now don't get me wrong, I did like Dan and Serena together, especially in the beginning and I was fine with them being endgame, but after everything that happened with them in the show, I didn't like what their characters became towards the end of the series and I would have been fine if they ended up with other people. I never hated a character more than I hated Rachel Carr. I hated literally everything about her, including her st*pid face with those "innocent/kind" eyes. She is such an hypocrite, and the only good thing about her arch is that it is revealed after when Blair discovers that she was the one who told Yale about that incident. Sure Blair shouldn't have done that but what she did to Serena was a little worse, and I hate also that Serena even gets to feel guilty for the photo and Dan when the two of them were so lying about not having feelings for each other. God that couple disgusted me so much, still does, it is everything what is wrong with this world

I don’t think Dan and Blair were the best couple, but I do think they were the healthiest and definitely had the best chemistry. The fact they ended up being friends (when they despise each out for so long) just from the fact that they shared so many common interest, Chair was so incredibly toxic (I love them, I do.. but they were exhausting) and Serena only wanted Dan when she couldn’t have him and Dan bent over backwards for her and even Blair called him out. Blair and Dan were BY FAR the most compatible and they actually made each other better, the fact that the show spend seasons building up this very solid foundation to break them up in a few episodes it’s insane.
You have to give the shows 10 years for new viewers to arrive, it changes the perspective so much. I will die on the hill that I think Dan actually liked Blair more than he liked Serena, because Serena was just a fantasy he had but Blair actually was a more tangible and like-minded relationship. How he went from still being in love with Blair on episode 5 and being back to being in love with Serena episode 9-10? Mind boggling.
