Exactly how it went when I fought Messmer
for me it was ceaseless discharge in DS1.... i didn't know. i beat it fair and square when its weakest attack did 80% of my hp bar.
@@0Sirenn Mesmer went down easily for me. The final boss of the DLC though was a major case of repeated "press x to enter fog".
Before I knew it, I was having full-on conversations with Mohg. I came to know the three-prongs of his trident quite intimately!

the delayed hits are the most precise thing ever, I feel like I'm in a horror movie tripping over everything as the killer just walks.
But the pinball bit was gold!
The tracking on some of those is insane as well. Was goofing around with cheat-engine for fun in DS3, and Iudex Gundyr was already bonkers. His delayed overhead-slam with his halberd. I set enemy speed to 25% and during the wind-up for the move, I ran circles around him. Motherhubber was zero'd in on me the whole goddamn time.
@@Kuganurio1994 Yeah, that's how Fromsoft makes difficulty. I wish our character could turn on a dime too but naw, wouldn't want that kind of control for the player because then shizzle might actually be more fair.

That "but hey, winnable!" hits far too close to home. So many fights I would think to myself "time to play the best Elden Ring of my life" after using my last flask, and suddenly my knowledge of the dodge button evaporates into nothingness, much like my health bar.
But it's always the run where you get it that you use like 2 flasks out of your 50

@lividlife213 had a fight in the Elden Ring dlc where i was getting my ass kicked then all of a sudden i had a run where i somehow avoided all the moves that gave me trouble, then all of a sudden it falls over without me realizing it was almost dead already
Its funny how in ds3 i was too focused on rushing that i forgot to heal on a boss think it was dsa or friede idk but whoever it was i still won with the few estus i had

Boss takes it seriously and pulls out his every move possible.
At some point, a boss will have a secret 4th stage where they bring out the tarnished-seeker missiles.

Another one is seeing a giant boss and breathing a sigh of relief, but as soon as you see a boss the size of the player you go “dear God, anything but this”
That's just Japanese game design. The boss that looks like a corrupted angel, towering over cities with sky-high flames all around? Pretty simple, actually. Some pretty boy with a sword just standing there? Welp, you're boned. Hope you can spot dodge this 20-hit combo.

False King Allan, The Penetrator, Artorias, Gwyn, Fume Knight, Sir Alonne, Ivory King, Lost SInner, Champ Gundyr, Gael, Pontiff Sulyvahn, Sister Friede, Abyss Watchers, Soul of Cinder, Nameless King, Dragonslayer Armour, Lady Maria, Gerhman, Father Gascoigne, Orphan of Kos, most of Sekiro bosses, and many Elden ring bosses..but then we also have like Dragonrider or Deacons..
Big bosses with some exception are probably dragons, because many of their fights are epic and quite challenging, also Ludwig because he is awesome, but then you have things like diarrhea tree or bed of chaos..

Every time you think “heys, winnable”, somehow all the skill that supported your prior dodges/parries that carried you up to this point, will always somehow magically disappear, leaving you helpless as you stare at yourself get pummeled by the boss.
It's never the new attacks in phase 2 that truly fuck you over, it's existing attacks being changed, or combos extended
or masked by blinding light lol
Yep, cause it really subverts your expectation which is obviously great boss design. You don't wanna reward the player for learning anything prior to the second phase, you wanna punish them for it and then they'll just have to trial and error their way to memorise the new attack patterns.
The game series way of doing difficulty is hella overrated.

I love how the monster was going easy on you in the first half, but as soon as it got under half health it activated his boss instinct and unloaded all the weaponry he had gathered from different realms

What margit felt like for the first time, those staggered, semi-randomly timed attacks and that damn throwing knife that either misses you completely or somehow nails you mid-roll
Not to mention he input reads to punish you when you use a flask, same as the godskins.
They aren’t random, they can be predicted. They react to your movements

Also you can't track the boss, because the camera is trash and it's either too big or too fast or both and From Software never learns.

Oh my god, I'm crying I laughed so hard. It started out so slow and boring (literally laughing out loud as I'm writing this) and then it just kept escalating and escalating and escalating until my composure was broken down into a fine ash.

Reminds me of how I beat Elden Ring twice thinking I just had to dodge through, avoid, or out-heal every single attack because I thought shields were dumb.
In my current playthrough I’m using both a shield and incantations and I have no damn clue how I survived without them.
That's interesting because I took the opposite route: shield, heavy armor, and healing spells on my first playthrough, then dodge roll everything on my second.
Me tryna bumrush everything in Golden Sun with just attacks and Psynergy, then realizing how blessedly utilitarian the little Djinn buddies are.
Never touched a shield to this day. Too good at rolling xD

I laughed really loud and woke up my roommate early in the morning, DAMN it hoot, you did it again.
From 0:36 to 0:42 you really missed the opportunity to represent Janksouls' hitboxes. Monster attacks, knight evades. Dies 2 seconds later to the lingering hitbox of the punch.
