👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼the fact you took time to make this video educational also with a diagram is awesome thank you. These are the videos I love seeing on TH-cam.
Very glad to hear it was helpful for you! 👍🏻
Drain cleaners and a snake did nothing. This worked great, and that feeling you get when you watch a toilet and full tub break loose and the water just rushes out of the house and youre tired and dirty from work and its late and youre almost confident you won't take a shower before your toddler starts waking up for his night shift, pff priceless. Thank you a ton!
Awesome, glad to hear it! 👏🏻
This worked, I can't believe it! I filled up the shower with hot water, and then the toilet with super hot water. I plunged the shower for a couple of minutes, and the water drained in the shower. I was able to get the toilet to flush as well. Thank you! You saved us a ton of money!
You bet, glad to hear it! It almost always works. 😉 👍🏻
I did the same in the bathtub only... started plunging the BATHTUB drain while the hot water sat there and then suddenly there was a new type of gurgle in the toilet and then all the bathtub water started to drain fast.
Just as I was giving up hope...I watched my beautiful toilet flush, and the tub drain at the same time! I can't believe I actually fixed this! Thank you!
Hey that’s awesome, glad it helped you! 👏🏻
I literally just had this problem this morning and within 30 mins I was able to fix this issue. When you feel like giving up on the plunging, give it a few more try’s. You saved me a lot of money.
Thank you so much for posting this we did what you said and while the tub was filling for like 17minutes it unclogged itself, we were so worried it was gonna be expensive to fix, you are a life saver!!!!!
Awesome, glad to hear it helped! 👍🏻
This video just saved me from a $200 diagnostic with the plumbing company. Thanks, brotha. 🤙
You bet, glad it helped you. 👍🏻
Thank you for this detailed explanation. I had sewage backing up into my shower and tub and the toilet would not flush. I tried plunging the toilet multiple times and that didn't take care of the clog. I followed your advice and after a few tries filling the toilet with hot water it removed the blockage.
Awesome, glad to hear it helped you!👏🏻
You're awesome, thanks for this! The explanation and diagram are perfect. Now I can show my building maintenance people how to fix it LOL. They act so clueless 🙄 or they can pay a plumber. Either way thank you!!!!!!
Hahaha, glad it was a help for you (and maybe them too). 👍🏻
I had this problem and your video saved me a plumber bill! Thanks so much😁
Glad to hear it! ✊🏻
Just had this issue not even and hour ago. I came across your video. Read the comments for confirmation then went ahaead and tried it.. your a life saver!!!! Problem solved ! I was about to cry.
Hey, that’s awesome Linda. Glad it helped you! 👍🏻
2 years later and this was a life saver. Thank you so much
Awesome, glad it helped you!👏🏻
You sir, are a Godsend.
I just had this problem last night - circumstances were a bit different. Toilet wouldn't go down no matter how much plunging I did.
And after a few minutes of plunging, I saw the water in my bathtub rise.
I found your video, but couldn't use either solution right away. I went to bed; woke up after about 7 hours and found the water in the toilet had gone down, but still no flush.
So I filled the bowl with Hot Water from the tub's faucet and went back to bed.
When I woke up about an hour and a half later, both were completely drained and back to normal.
Thank you again.
Awesome, glad to hear it helped you! 👏🏻
This totally worked!! I filled the tub and the toilet and plunged A LOT. It didn't immediately drain. I gave up and just walked away. 2 hours later, drain was clear! Thank you so much.
You bet, glad it helped you. 👍🏻
You just gotta let GRAVITY do it’s thing!
I can’t believe it…this WORKED! I’ve been plunging and snaking all afternoon and….nothing. This is the first video I watched, and I’m so glad I chose this one. Thank you…you're an absolute genius!!
@@HeidiStLouis-xu2ox that’s awesome, glad it helped you! 👏🏻
OMG! I'VE HAD THIS PROBLEM FOR ALMOST 3 DAYS! YOU'RE A MONEY SAVER!!!! I FEEL LIKE I NEED TO PAY YOU!!!!!! I'M SUPER GLAD I FOUND YOU ❤❤❤❤
Haha, just glad it helped you. 👍🏻
Thanks very much for this video, I had the exact problem, flush toilet and backing up into the shower drain and on a Sunday night after Home Depot is closed. I did exactly what you suggested, added water in the shower. It took about 15 mins but then the clog cleared. I'm beyond grateful!! You're awesome Papa Joe!
Awesome, glad to hear it helped you! 👏🏻
Did you stop the water and just let the water sit or keep it running in the tub? And did you plunge at all or just let it sit only?
Thank you, Papa Joe! I wasn't sure it was going to work, but after persisting with the plunger, it finally cleared. 😄
Glad to hear it helped. 👏🏻
Just purchased a new house and came across this problem with the master bath room toilets and showers/tub and this video just saved me some $$$. Thank you so much 🙏🏿
You bet, glad to hear it helped! 👏🏻
Ssme problem right now
Thank you. I was preparing for a high plumber's bill. But this unclogged the toilets in minutes.
Awesome, glad to hear it! 👏🏻
Thank you so much!! Before I watched this I had instinctively used the plunger on the toliet because my bath water was draining and the toliet started making bubbling sounds. I watched this video afterwards and now I'm not stressing about calling the plumber, everything is working perfectly now🙏
Awesome, glad to hear it helped you. 👍🏻
Thank you! This did the trick. Saved me $100s with a plumber and the toilet/tub were fixed now and not tomorrow afternoon. I also used Dawn dishwashing liquid in the toilet hot water.
Awesome, glad it helped! 👏🏻
I did it!!!! It worked!!!! My toilet in the basement was backing up and gurgling in the basement wash basin. I ran high pressure hot water in the tub basin for 10-15 minutes, then plungered the toilet, then back to basin with hot water. Then hot water poured in toilet. And it worked!! Because I use a little dishwashing liquid in the toilet which has helped in past, that was in toilet anyway and may have been helpful😊.. Thank you so much !!!!
Hey that’s awesome, I’m glad it helped you! 👏🏻
Thanks I had same problem in the shower in my basement after watching your video it never did it again saved me some money
Glad to hear it! 👍🏻
OMG!! This worked!! I can't believe it, and I am soo, soooo very grateful!! We are having trouble making our mortgage right now, let alone the possibility of having to call a plumber!! We were dying! So awesome. Thank you for taking the time to post this!
You bet, really glad to hear it helped you. 👏🏻
2024- I cannot thank you enough for this! My husband did this and in 15 minutes… DONE! Toilet flushed and the tub drained. God bless you! 🙏🏾🖤🙌🏾
Your diagram is good. So I shut the bathtub drain first, then when I plunged the toilet, everything cleared. Thanks for that diagram!!😮
Smart thinking! 👌🏻
Watched a couple different videos and this is the one that worked. The water in the shower simply helps not let air through that line which forces the water in the direction it needed to go. Thanks again
Thank you very much! I did exactly what you showed in the video and worked for me. You saved me $200! People like you should have over 1m views.
Awesome, glad it helped you! 👍🏻
Thanks, Papa Joe! Worked like a charm!!
Just wanted to say thank you Sir. Christmas eve and both tubs and toilets backed up. Plumber said he would get here Soon as he could. I came across your video. Spot on and no cost to me. Thank you
Hey that’s awesome, glad to hear it! 👏🏻🎄
Excellent. Thank you for taking the mystery out of plumbing 👍🏼
Glad it helped. 👌🏻
Thank you so much. I had a job interview the next morning, and could not shower or clean my self up, but thanks to your method, I was able to SSS and get the job😊😊😊😊😊😊
Thank you so much for this video. I thought I would be calling the plumber this morning but this method worked. The toilets and tub are draining now.
Awesome, glad it helped. 👌🏻
Outstanding explanation. Thank you so very much for saving people's sanity.
Also forgot to say thank you for showing an easy to understand diagram.
WOW! Thanks! Was able to fix a clog in 20 mins that my brother couldn't fix in 2 months. Lol!
Well done! Glad it helped you. 👍🏻
We got same issue in downstairs toilet & wet shower. I’ll try your method and update here. Thanks a lot for educating us here. 👍
Thanks ever so much. I applied your technique and the issue got resolved. Can’t thank you enough 👍👍👍👍
Paps Joe, thank you for your advice. You took the time to educate and explain...thats the kindness and patience people need when they have home repair problems, again many thanks!
You’re quite welcome, and kind of you to say, I appreciate it. 👍🏻
Thanks for the basics. In my case my sink backed up with overflow. I filled the sink with hot water, plunged then repeat until the I heard the clog bust and water started to flow perfectly again! This video helped remined me of the basics.
Awesome, glad it worked out for you. 👏🏻
Thank you so much for this video. I was about to give up and then i came across your video--20 Min later, it was fixed. Thank you!!
You bet, glad it helped you.
I just did this and it worked!!! Thank you so much!
You bet, glad it helped. 👍🏻
Beyond thankful for you and this video! Wasn’t ready for a shower/toilet clog on New Year’s Eve- but you helped me survive it without a plumber 😆 Thank you!!
You bet, glad it helped. Happy new year! 🥳 🎊
I'm looking this up as well because of New Year's Eve...and no one's open! So should I pour boiling water in the tub and toilet? The rest of my lines are fine.
@@lachata79 NO not boiling water… that can crack the porcelain toilet. Just hot is fine.
Same exact thing happened to me 😂
This was a great help in troubleshooting this issue. Thank you so much for sharing! You rock!
Awesome, glad it was helpful for you! 👍🏻
Thank you! This worked in our apartment in less than 10 minutes!
Thanks papa Joe, I went and bought a plunger, snake and Drāno. Drāno was my last resort, but before that I googled this and found you video and that did the trick. Thanks again.
You bet, glad to hear it helped you!
You’re a hero. I was on last chance saloon and about to book and expensive plumber but found this vid. My toilets would bubble every time we ran the shower, bath or sinks so I filled the bath with hot water with the plug in, same with the sink and then flushed the toilet which backed up. I filled the toilet with kettle water and then pulled all the plugs out to slam all the water down at the same time and after about 10 seconds that relieving gurgle sound happened and everything levelled out. I feel like a plumber myself now 😂 thank you so much!
You bet, glad it helped you. When you say kettle water, I hope not boiling hot, because that can crack the porcelain. 👍🏻
@@papajoeknows8355 I didn’t know that! No just quite hot but into the toilet that was nearly full anyway so all seems fine. Thanks again
I did exactly as you clearly explained in the video and it worked, we appreciate you sharing your knowledge to help others, thank you so much.
You bet, glad it helped you. 👍🏻
It worked just like you said; thanks for saving me the cost of a plumber.
You bet, glad it helped! 👍🏻
Papa Joe, Thanks for your straight forward explanation and diagram.
You bet, hope it helps. 👍🏻
You saved me an expensive call! Thank for so much for the explanation
You bet, glad it helped. 👍🏻
Thanks Joe! It worked....took 5min. But it work 🙏👍
Glad to hear it. 👍🏻
Getting ready to try this. Thanks so much for the detail and description.
Me too, because plumbers are just pricy. Everything is nowadays
This video saved me a call to the plumber!!! Thank you so much!
You bet, glad to hear it! 👏🏻
Thank you...I had shit coming up in both bathtoom from our septic and I tried what you said about the hot water in my toilet...worked like a charm...THANK YOU
Awesome, glad it helped! 👍🏻
👀 🤣
Thank you so much! Your thorough explanation was extremely helpful.
You bet, glad it helped. 👍🏻
Put very simply & so easy to understand! Thank you

This absolutely worked!!! Wow! Thank you!
The diagram helped loads, thanks for this vid my guy!

you have the best trimmed and clean nails I've ever seen.
Hahaha, you caught me on a good day.
Just a huge god damn thank you from Scottsdale Az …. Can’t tell ya how much this helped
Glad to hear it! 👍🏻
This just worked for me too!
WOW! I put hot water down both toilet and shower drain. As I flushed the toilet, I plunged the shower drain at the same time......forcing pressure down the one pipe they both share.
Then then the shower started draining. You could hear it too.
Thank you, Sir!
You bet, glad it helped. 👍🏻
The term “snaking the clog line” worked! Thanks a bunch!
You bet 👍🏻
@@papajoeknows8355 I saved some money, what's your patreon?
@@scratchd0g glad to hear it worked for you! I don’t have patreon, but my cash app is in description. Thanks! 👍🏻
Where can we get a snaking clog line
@@camposthe4thfamily532 you can get plumbing augers at Home Depot / Lowe’s or any other home improvement store.
Thank you .. stay tuned
Thank you this video saved me hindered of dollars and I had a huge furball come back up!
This just fixed it for my bathtub, wasn’t even filling up but same issue, thank you!
holy crab you’re a life saver! i was home alone and the drain started doing this and i don’t even know why but i knew it would make my mom mad so i needed to fix it asap!! tysm this worked super fast and perfectly just as you said it would!!
Awesome, glad it helped. 👍🏻
What a great explanation! Thank you so much!!!
You bet. 👍🏻
It was very helpful it worked so easily thanks Papa Joe
Glad to hear it. 👍🏻
Snaking the access vent, was the best Tip.
Saved me hundreds, doing it myself💪
Thank you
Glad to hear it! 👏🏻
You saved me big time thanks!!!
DUDE THANK YOU SO MUCH !! you the Goat man ..Worked with hot water in under 10 minutes !!🔥💯
This worked. Thanks!
Thank you I would try this tips
It's been below zero here. Figured my vent was frozen or clogged, sure enough I let the shower run and hot watered the toilet no more gurgle sound. It wasn't backing up in the shower it was just the air. Great video thanks.
You bet, glad it helped. 👍🏻
Thank you very much for sharing.....we had to ask a neighbor where was his clean out drain....we finally found it after digging about 2 ft down.....snaked from the outside in and could not locate the clog......we had to remove the toilet and BINGO snaked from the toilet out and there it was about 45 ft out.....we are so happy we did not need to call the plumber.....
Glad it all worked out. 👍🏻
thank you
Unfortunately last week showed there were roots in my line even though the plumbing was all replaced six years ago. The plumber sent his large snake out and hit mud after he got a bunch of roots out. The tree is on city property too. Wishing mine was an easy cheap fix. I will keep this in mind for future blockage. Thank you for showing this.
Sorry to hear, that sucks
So did the city help out
Solved my issue! Thanks so much!
Awesome, glad it helped! 👏🏻
Thank you! What a great video. Your video saved me $$$ and helped me understand what’s going on.
Awesome, glad to hear it helped you! 👍🏻
Thanks! You saved me a lot of money tonight!!
Awesome, glad to hear it. 👍🏻
This works, had to do 5 pots of boiling water down the toilet and plunged each, but it worked.Very thankful for this video
Glad it worked but never use boiling water in a toilet, as it can crack the porcelain. Just hot water is fine though.
Very helpful
The visual aid helped alot thank you👍
Thank you so much for taking the time to post this!!! I found your video and 20 minutes later my drains are clear! I started freaking out when the tub started backing up 😩🤢💩
Awesome glad to hear it helped you. 👏🏻
A very helpful video, thank you
You are the man, thanks you sir!!!
Thanks so much y’all you’re super duper awesome!
We just had this problem and your way fixed it!! Thank you sooo much!!!
You bet 👍🏻
Thanks to you I was able to fix this clog without a plumber, thank you so much!!
Glad I could help!
Thank you so much for posting this video, this worked. No more clog
Glad to hear it!
Can vouch that the gravity trick worked for me! Freaked out after some heavy rain and both toilets and showers were backing up. Filled up one tub slightly half way with hot water. Went to bed and in the morning was all unclogged!
Thank you for the explanation. Very helpful.
Awesome, glad to hear it helped. 👍🏻
Working on it now! Will update. Thank you!
Update: no dice with the gravity. Problem may be stemming from the vent pipe. Can’t reach it on my own. Gonna have to have someone come out sadly
This helped me a lot too. Thank you
Hey man, looks like it worked! Over the last 48 hours or so whenever, I would flush the toilet it would back up into the shower. My landlord was on a mission to contact the plumber and while waiting to hear back, decided to check TH-cam and found your video.
Ran hot water into my shower (similar to yours in that there is no bathtub as for some reason the prior owner of the house had removed it?) and let it sit for about 20 MINUTES. Since the toilet was full of unmentionables (LOL) I decided to leave that lid closed…
So, after letting the water in the shower sit, I then worked my plunger in the shower drain for about 3 to 4 minutes, and lo and behold, boom! That lovely sound and visual of draining water occurred! Ran the hot water for about 5 to 10 minutes and flushed the toilet a few times and… FTM, it is All Clear!
[UPDATE: now, several months later I can say that it remained clear for quite some weeks! It did eventually happen again but I applied a shorter version of what I did before and that was now about three weeks ago and everything is running fine. Thanks again so much for this video!]
Awesome, glad to hear it!! ✊🏻
😂😂😂 “Unmentionables “ 😅
what it basement toilet won't flush and when flush upstairs toilet the shower downstairs get backed up
@@vonswelllathan2154 Not sure what statement you're making (or if you're asking a question??). If you're asking if my issue was either in the basement or in an upstairs room, I can tell you it was on ground level (I have no basement or second-floor).
@@voicetube I'm asking I'm having the same issue a need some assistance.just tried running hot water from both bathrooms shower and the basement showers backed up then went down slowly but basement toilet won't flush but upstairs works fine.
Thanks it works perfectly. Nice trick

Glad to hear it! 👏🏻
Thank you, this video is amazing. Totally fixed it.
Awesome, glad to hear it helped. 👏🏻
You fixed it.
Thanks brother.
It was the hot water in the toilet that did it for me. Immediately the tub drained.
