It worked!!! The plumber was on his way when we found this video. We tried EVERYTHING and were ready to spend money we could not afford, but we tried one last thing- found the main drain, used a plunger and VOILA!!! Thank you.😊
Came home to a clogged main drain last night. Normally I’d rent the rooter tool from Home Depot and clean the line, but they were closed for the night. This morning I went to Home Depot, bought the plunger used in this video and some main drain cleaner. I was able to unclog the drain in less than 10 minutes with the plunger. I then poured the main drain cleaner in to kill any roots and put the cap back on. Saved a lot of time and money today. Thanks for the hack.😊
THANK YOUUUUU ❤❤❤❤ I literally had the same issue! The snake and uncloggers were not working. I went outside and found the cleaning pipe and it was a quarter full. After pumping using the exact same tool, i wasnt making any progress. So what i did was add some boiling water from the kettle and some warm water and filled around half way up to get some increase pressure. I pumped and pumped and water was slowly being vacuumed up and some splashed put. As soon as i took off the plunger, the pressure pushed everything down and was bone dry like yours. THANK YOU SO MUCH
You are a life pipe saver. I got almost the same issues as you did. All my pipes backed up, overflooding my bedroom, Hallway and bathroom. Was a very bad night. I do not see my outdoor pipes, but I used the MASTER GENIUS PLUNGER inside the main toilet drain, and VOILA A thousand thank you to you. !!!!
this is my first comment on a blog (I guess that is what it is called),I loved it it made me laugh, added to my knowledge as I am also trying to be a good steward of my resources. Mostly I loved your honesty, openness and vulnerability.
Excellent. Just did mine 10 miutes ago after trying to snake it all day yesterday, but the clogg was to deep for my snake which is 25 feet. Used this method and it did the job, you just have to be persistent with the plunging.
Great job glad you got it fixed just hired a professional plumber but now my issue is getting the bathroom carpet cleaned what we're they thinking when they built this house putting carpet in the bathroom?
I’m having this issue right now. I’m headed outside to try the plunger method as I type. I’ll give you the update of my issue. Thanks for the information
Well done video, 👍🏾 I don't know where my line is outside 😢, yes it's rough when you can't afford these expensive plumbers. We're doing the diy myself 😢!!!! Thank for the video so thankful everything worked out for you.
I loved this video! Tomorrow I’m going to look for the pipes outside! Off course those things always happens over the weekend or at night. I fixed right now but I need to check because I feel will happen again. Thank you!!
Great job ma'am from out here in dallas.tx..but just one very important thing it seems yall all forgot is to ALWAYS WEAR GLOVES BEFORE WORKN ON THEZ TYPES OF THINGS !!!!!..., LOL..
Usually when the toilet flushing backs up into the bath tub, the main line has a clog caused by roots getting into the pipes. A pro plumber taught me that in old lines, the best repair is to line the old sewer pipes with a resin liner after grinding out the invading tree roots. Clean outs are required every 100 feet on long sewer line runs. If you have such a repair done, you cannot use a drain auger afterwards on the line to clean it. In those cases, you use water pressure to unclog the drain going to the city sewer line. Rental augers have heavier duty thicker cables (around 1/2" or thicker diameter) to cut roots with. Many have long runs up to 80 feet for rentals. Professional plumbers have augers that may be as long as 150 feet.
if that keeps occuring, and you have issues with the main lines, useing rv marine toilet paper will help. found at walmart in the rv supply section. good video.
I have PTSD from our clogged toilet. I was plunging, plunging, and then the sewage started overflowing, like a slow, running, volcano. Luckily I was able to contain it, in the bathroom, with using rolls and rolls of Bounty Paper Towels. I tried Chemicals, Plunger, Pouring down Dishwashing Detergent, with hot water, an Auger. FINALLY !! What worked for me, was hiring a Professional Plumber, with a Professional Auger, and a Professional Service Charge of $400.00 Our house doesn't have a sewer pipe on the yard, he had to climb, on the rooftop. I'm so scared of this happening again, that we no longer wash clothes at home, we now go, once a week, to the Laundromat, and we no longer put Toilet Paper down the toilet. All the Detergent Soap, Grime, Dirt, and Toilet Paper, will eventually clog the sewer line again. Better safe, than 💩 sorry.
Wow! I'm praying for a simple clog in one toilet out of three. However, I do have a manageable leak in the garage. Comes and goes. LOL. Unfortunately, I do not have you and your husbands abilities. Don't have money for plumber eIther. Thanks for the video.
The bellows plunger worked! It took several plunging and wait sessions, but it went to normal. Watch out for backsplash! Thank you for going through all the methods so we didn’t have to.
Dear Playright: Very good video, preparation, and work. You've covered all bases and figured out a solution using a few inexpensive tools. In your description why didn't you have the option of hiring a professional plumber?
When the sewer clean-out, outside of your house is overflowing like in your case, that means the sewer blockage is somewhere BELOW that point from there, out towards the street where the main sewer line is. In your case, there was nothing wrong with your toilet.--- Old sewer guy :
Hey Mark, I just had to have my sewer clean out cleared due to a blockage and now everything flows fine. Issue is I’m hearing a gurgling of air in my guest bathtub when I flush my guest toilette. (Manufactured home) everything flushes but the gurgling is making me concerned. Any insight?
I just paid a plumber $300. I was having similiar issues.. started with the toilet gurgling when I was using the dishwasher. I plunged, then it still happened, but now the tub was gurgling and the toilet flush & drain was slow.. I plunged again. Water was not coming into the tub though. It was a temporary fix. It wasn't until I washed clothes in the washing machine. The water backed up and out of the drain pipe onto the basement floor. I felt it was serious. The plumber opened the main drain pipe to the public sewerage in the basement. I saw a lot of gunk, awful smell, bugs..He had a long 80ft. snake. It did the job. He said I should have professional clean every few years. 😅
My analogy is if you use some type of water pressure in the drain I think that is key and using some preventative often can be key.the plumbing world never mentioning these things like stuff that can work so we pay them a bunch
Wrong! A professional plumber wouldnt mention this method because we have highly effective and guaranteed to work cable auger machines that can push through just about any sewer stoppage imaginable. This little plunger method through the top of the clean out pipe is NOT effective and this lady here got lucky cause a real.tough stoppage wouldnt have cleared. A good auger machine is gonna get it everytime within minutes. But if you homeowners like playing around with your sewage fical mess.....go right ahead and do whatever floats your boat.
Check the basement or laundry room. You should have a main line drain (and often an overflow drain hole) somewhere around the lowest point inside your home.
I have 45 minutes and if anybody finds out I'm going to be in so much trouble. I was so hoping for like the one easy answer. Oh God I'm screwed. Please pray for me perhaps some miracle can find my way
Mine is just a big open drain in the back yard with 3 separate pipes that spill water inside - but none of the water is going down and the toilet won’t flush 😭 edit: and that same toilet paper issue is coming out the drain, nooo
Someone give this amazing human an award! It is all about the process. Thank you for the help!

How has it been so far?
You needed a 40 foot main drain snake which is much sturdier and use a main drain bladder that goes on your hose.It worked for me.
I didn’t know the 40 foot are much sturdier, thank-you for the info.
Dont use a bladder type that goes on a hose. It can get stuck and then your ripping up yard. Ask me how i know
Thank you SOOOOO muchhhh i did it and it actually worked!!!!!!!! I still cant believe it!!!! Easiest fix ever!!!
Outstanding, it worked for me also. Thank you for your post!!!!!!!

Would this work with a septic system?
Where did you find the Master Plunger for only $5-$6? Even Amazon charges more.
OK this is creepy..your house is build identical to mine, like you live down the street. Too cool & super helpful

My toilets aren’t clogged but any water that hits the sink drains leak into basement.
Wow!!!
BRAVO! Thanks for sharing, you are smart :)

Where/how did you empty the shop-vac? The best solution I've come up with is to dig a hole.
Excellent video. Thank you.

It might just be in your basement

It's not on the roof?
Is the water supposed to continuously run like that. Mine doesn't have standing water but no water is running through other than a trickle
Water would flow only when flush toilet or unplug sink or bath tub
They were probably running water inside the house, like a faucet or flushing a toilet.
Nice job.
Link or name to that kind of plunger?
Thank you!
Thank you so much!
I’m going to try this right now. Update incoming.

Haha same boat! No money
I would either rent a sewer snake or get a plumber to snske that main line because it might clog back up.
Very informative. Thank you.
