Think of it as an emblem. It can’t be messed with.
If someone has a new vorinclex out that means that can take as many take back counters as they want because it always gets rounded down
I have to say... Solemnity is suddenly a really busted card.
Honestly one of the things that's so refreshing about these games is seeing these players who have been playing this game and specifically this format for years still mess up and sequence things wrong and talk through plays with generous opponents.
Pretty sure there is drinking and maybe green mana involved 🤔 🤣

@@Zac_Frost this is absurd, when playing 5 colors you litteraly have access to ALL the fast mana in the game. All mana artifacts, dorks, enchantements...
@@AFzizou Maybe he meant they have the hardest time setting up early plays, because there are 5 colors of mana needing to match up with whatever spells they draw? I dunno 🤷♂️

@@AFzizou Yeah, but if you can't consistently draw them, then you have to rely on multicolor producing lands. It's always smart to have them, even if you have access to ramp and whatnot.
Whenever the camera angle changes, Cassius is always looking at the Prof's cards in hand. lmao

Rather convenient that he had a Gaea's cradle handy for when Armageddon went off. Almost like he WAS expecting that might happen. Gotta protect that hand prof.

That is an awesome InfiniToken, the best dry erase token in the market.
I would agree... if it were a random ass token no one has lying around. But everyone and their dog has a 1/1 Elf token, and with plenty of cool art to pick from. I stand by my comment.

@@TJE.13 he knew damn well what his commander did before he sat down to play that game. I am a poor player and even I make sure I have every token my deck can make, if not, i have back facing cards sleeved with a paper insert to make new custom tokens. Dry erase? Why? You'll likely need the token again! I havr many hand drawn tokens

@@jackhemsworth7515 Pause at 45:50 and you can see it has the classic Star Promo logo in the bottom corner. Might have thrown you off because the video overlay used the normal Urza’s Saga printing.
The Judge Promo is the only Foil version available.
Non-Foil is available in Black or Gold border (the latter being from the Championship deck series and not tournament-legal).
He even followed it up with a $90 FNM Llanowar Elf foil. His decks are always blinged out whenever I see him play.
Yep foils are the thing that makes him happy in mageecs. There's always something for everyone that plays which is beautiful

Cassius' facial expressions throughout the game were by far my favorite part of this video, especially during the Fact or Fiction and Cometstorm.

@@guylortie5238 it's not scripted. It gives that feeling because it's edited and prepared for production, so they repeat several turns so it looks good and probably "script" the decks they'll use so they're leveled. It's like a rule 0 conversation with showbiz in mind. But the gameplay is real. Why would you script a whole game of Magic (which sounds the most tedious thing to do) when a real game is enough for content?
I love both channels and they're rightfully different for a reason. In that way, I watched them expecting different things from them. This is natural and cordial, I enjoy the conversation and social aspect of Magic. Gameknights is heavy info, strategic and a gameplay show. Both are the best channels in their respective styles in my opinion.
GameKnights feels too much produced and scripted. I Hate Your Deck feels like im playing with my friends, talking trash and having fun.
It feels like commander too.
@@JwanCortez the wording they use on gameknights is actually somewhat scripted. They have a BTS video on their channel from a few years ago and Josh straight up says that they will have guests use specific wording and placement when playing cards so it's easier to edit and understand for the audience. I don't think the banter is scripted though.

I'm reminded by Prof's Force of Will story about how when I got into magic and learned about fetches relatively early I wondered why you'd pay a life to get one basic land or another when you could just play basic lands that don't hurt you and accept that once in a blue moon you'll be unlucky.
Literally same thought process when i first seen a fetch
Same with me and life costing effects. I didn't understand why you'd want to pay life instead of mana for something, but eventually I learned that the only life point that's _really_ important to you is your last one.
I meannnnnn, basics are still very good, and if you run a good amount of land ramp you don’t need fetches, aaand it makes decks a lot cheaper! ☺️
@@Oopsall Oh don't get me wrong in EDH I don't run them whatsoever, but I get why they're valued in formats like modern now even if I don't play such things. In EDH I am a big fan of basics, most of my 2 color decks run about 22 or 24 and my 3 colors never dip below 15.

Imprinting a land under chrome mox doesn’t allow it to tap for any mana considering lands have no color identity.
I love how Joe and Lynch argue like a married couple while exiled to the Shadow Realm lol
so i actually thought i would dislike this channel, it didn't look flashy or put together like game knights, but it feels real unlike GK, the interaction, conversations, and flow of the game all feel refreshing and just like how me and my own friends play, its just enjoyable to watch.
Ironically, I'm drifting away from Game Knights for that same reason.
I like game knights for seeing new decks and new cards. It shows some cool synergies. But this show is standard magic, nothing really different from and lgs but the banter makes it special. Their like yin and yang.

This is true. I just started watching this channel and all the people I have seen on game knights talking shit like my group does is great
I had such a hard time getting into GK because of how flashy and overproduced it is.

Chandra only flips when you activate her ability. You can attack first and then use her ability, but can't use her ability and then attack and flip her.

@@xDarknessRikux He was holding the Cradle waiting for the Armageddon in the end game. You can see it was in Prof's hand after the wheel, and Cassius was well aware of what was in his hand the entire game.

I just want to make a point for everyone wanting to build a Slivers deck after seeing this show.
Prof does make a mistake here in thinking that poisonous 1 is the same as the infect keyword ability.
When using poisonous 1 the amount of damage does not matter, you only get 1 infect counter per instance of damage.
Had it said poisonous 2 instead it would add 2 infect counters, it also does not replace damage as infect does.
You do the damage from the sliver to the player plus 1 infect counter per sliver that did damage to that player.
Just something to keep in mind, i play slivers quite a bit and wish it worked like infect but it does not sadly

Hoping for prof to get his first on screen win xD he's been done dirty on gameplay series.
I think Prof is done fine. I feel like he doesn't like to build the strongest deck at the table, and especially up against Cassius, this just isn't going to win him the game much.
The Legacy Pit has a video where he shreds a delver deck playing merfolk in legacy, but that's the only game I think I've seen him win

@@jimrosas7639 Honestly all EDH gameplay videos have their unique spin. Game Knights is when I feel like watching a movie, Mudstah orExtra Turns when I want to see the gameplay clearly, IHYD when i want to see the banter, etc...
Comparison is the theft of joy. Be thankful that you have multiple viewing options that cater to your particular interest. Also, these guys are a close-knit group of people who support each other's content. There's no need for partisanship.

@@jimrosas7639 true I started playing magic with dominaria couple years ago, and game knights were my gate to understand older cards and the commander format and it is thanks to them and day9 that i get to enjoy shows like this one, tho it makes me a bit sad that i am the probably the only dude in my country that plays magic and having these kind of game tables is impossible
poisionous makes you do full normal damage and each source produces 1 poision counter
This channel is super underrated, this show does as much if not more for EDH that GK and Commanders quarters does. It shows how fun and welcoming of everyone this game is. I only can hope for the day that I get the privilege to play against these awesome guys. Cheers boys.

Joe didn't lose to poison counters, I think! The sliver gives "poisonous 1', so each time a sliver deals damage, the player algo gets 1 pouson counter... it's different from infect
If it was infect then it would have played like that. I have a Sliver deck too.
Again the best part of this series is how natural the table seems. Like if I were to walk up to a table at my LGS this is how it would be. It makes it on a whole other level compared to other gameplay shows

I really love the chit chattings during the game. I remember the thing that Lynch said as well, that when I first started playing mtg, I also thought sacrificing stuff was really bad
I feel so validated that prof has a sliver deck like mine and we have the exact same sleeves for them, I’ve reached my peak in mtg.

The professor is a legend! Thank you for playing sliver overlord because I was just debating building my own and you've given me so good direction to go in.
I used his deck tech to build the basic body of my sliver deck. I use First Sliver as my commander though, it makes the deck feel faster.
Slivers are love, best tribal ever. It's like they were made for Commander
I love harvest season, amonkhet had a lot of slept on cards and we’ve seen anointed procession blow up in price
I pulled 4 anointed processions when they were around 4 dollars and now they’re like 30 dollars
I could see harvest season increasing a lot in price too
The show has a behind-the-scenes feel where you really know that nobody is putting on an act and they're being genuine and the banter is sincere and I honestly love it. It's what keeps me coming back.

I'd love to see someone playing an 'Inniaz, the Gale Force' deck. Then everyone gets to play with everyone else's deck as well!
As someone who has an Inniaz deck, most ppl tend to get salty when you give their commander or combo piece to another player 😆

I technically won by stealing my opponents Iroas Commander after knocking out both other players, but I actually won because of an almost literal tableflip when I did. The deck is now called Inniaz Cha Cha Slide, and though not banned, I can be sure of dirty looks if I pull it out again !

Forgot to comment. This was great! Love the games that are a little less grindy, they're more my speed. Not a huge fan of infinite combos, but I have thoroughly enjoyed everything you guys have put out
Loved the episode. Poison 1 only means that each time the creature does damage you get one poison counter not a counter for each damage done.
Lynch I think you missed one more color mana for marchesa after dockside. Then you wouldn’t have enough for sheoldred.
Cash messed up on a couple of things like when he played an Insect he made 2 elves. Other than that, it was great. Love this channel and the diverse guest.
The look on Prof face after made me think he knew, but he was like meh... whatever.

I dont understand why Prof didnt use 1 sliver at the end to tutor cloudshredder, and then tap 2 more to play cloudshredder, then win.... he had gemhide and his commander with reduced activated ability cost.
I am gonna be honest. The best episodes you have had have been with the Prof
They'd been playing numerous other games and drinking prior to this. Prof wasn't at peak performance, but he still played incredibly well.
Cash missed his mana crypt rolls… not that it truly changed anything in the game.
he also cheated out 2 elf tokens by playing an insect spell instead of an elf spell with Alana Huntmaster and Wirewood Symbiote
I noticed the wirewood symbiote too and was saying "nope, nope" I'm glad I wasn't the only one

I think there was a slight mistake at 13:45, cause Lynch didn't have enough mana to cast Marchesa AND Sheoldred.
I noticed that too, he needed two treasures to cast Marchesa and only used one.

The amount of misplays this game made it difficult to watch. Cassius trying to equip at instant speed and Prof only paying 1 for commander tax were particularly egregious
And marchesa coming back because of dethrone. She gives other creatures dethrone not herself.
@@benfranzen9974 Marchesa actually does bring herself back, and she does have dethrone. But Lynch swinging at Prof thinking he would get the Dethrone trigger was wrong
Also Joe's "Faithless Looting" at 33:36 is actually a Japanese Infuriate...
And it still had less misplays than an episode of game knights
