Same thing happens to me. In large pacer packs as soon as I stop steering to the left my avatar shoots back to the right. Often I will end up all the way back on the right side of the pack in seconds. Very frustrating! It also seems more difficult to move left and right in a large pack now. I would be OK with that if I just stayed in my lane after moving over but that's rarely the case.
it seems to me that whichever side of the road is shorter is the side they pass on. so if theres a right hand turn coming up, theyll pass on the right most of the time. i think thats just how the riders are lined up. maybe when you were observing in tempus (mostly right turns/curves) youll see more right-handed passing from the bot
I've had to steer back into the draft more in packs recently. It seems like it's drifting out on the edge further and will hang out there, so I end up nudging the steering back toward the nearest wheel in front of me.
Happens to me all the time and it's pissing me off tbh. I use the play controllers for shifting, but it enables shifting I don't really need or want in a robopacer ride, but I just get ejected either side constantly
Watching it, it appears you pop out of the draft when you are moving up in the group. Is this maybe what’s going on? I would be in support of that dynamic, irl you usually have to pop out of the draft to move up on a group.
I've 100% observed the same behavior - I have to be far more observant and active on steering with PD5 if I want optimal draft positioning. It's especially bothersome because if you lose focus and do get pushed out into the wind, as you noted the collision boxes are also bigger and it's harder to find gaps to slot back into even with steering. Fortunately, PD5 hasn't been pushed into racing events yet, but I'm hoping it gets addressed / tweaked before that happens.
2 prong forks, a bit of sticky draft, the fast moving sidewalk of riders on the left side while the right side is always slowly backwards, getting pushed out of the draft by riders. I've struggled with all this in the last 3-4 weeks. It's very odd now. On the BMTR 160, I didn't notice it hardly at all!!??
oh, almost forgot...on Coco at least, the AI seems to favor a 2-3 rider wide snake peloton. Seems way more rare now for Coco group to go "wide, we glide" as they say. It's always a long stretched out peloton now.
I rode Coco for 60 minutes on Tempus Fugit last night. I'm 59 kg with TRON Bike. I averaged 170 Watts. 2.88 W/kg. 100+ riders. By far the hardest I've had to work with Coco. I do miss when Coco was 2.4. Maria at 2.2 is not much work.
Doesn't the avatar default to a steering-disabled behaviour when not actively steering? If so it may not be such a bad thing reducing the advantage steering has been granting.

yes, I complained on zwift forums about this 10 days ago. So terrible now with steering. I've had to keep steering off to have a decent Coco ride.

Isn’t the rider simply taking the shortest path? Steering towards the apex of the curve?

I have sent more than one feedback to zwift because of this issue when using steering

it seems like it's "smart steering" now. like my avatar has a mind of its own and wants to stay in the draft even when im like no no no go this way
is it a bot keeping 188W constantly?? xDD
Yes. That's why it's called "Zwift Insider Bot 1" :) It's one of our test bots!
