Melty Grand Finals was hype. The reset from Masoma after being down 2-0 and both of them taking it all the way to last game last round. Respects to both Jing and Masoma for that great match.
Took my wife Saturday only, and we just happened to show up when Melty Top 8 started and we stayed and watched the whole thing. She doesn't play fighting games unless I beg but she still had a great time and were cheering in the crowd especially after this top 8. Amazing Top 8 and a phenomenal Grands. Although I was cheering for Scrawts Mario

It was amazing to see so many people watching a dang ol' Melty Blood game. I'm so glad it was able to get on the main stage. If it weren't for Idom's run, the top 8 for TL would have been my favorite of this EVO by far.
To be fair, Japanese players said he was bottom tier, which is probably what they were basing their data on. NA was the group that discovered that Vlov was a little nutty. By the time Grand Finals happened and everyone realized how strong he was, it was too little too late.

I would love it if you reviewed masoma vs Kiri because that match to me was just as great as the finals. Kiri Noel really was amazing in so many aspect that I wish people consider her more
Melty GF was super hype. I had a lot of fun watching it. I thought they were super close. Jin is a monster through. He played in 1 main game and 3 side games and won them all. That’s just incredible. The 5v5 was pretty hype too, but you can tell it wasn’t the most serious competition. Not to say it was bad or that players weren’t playing well or anything, like that but it was more about people from 2 different countries coming together and having fun playing some games than proving anything.
The idea of Hisui being bad is mostly an NA thing(mostly influenced by scrawt), in other regions Hisui and maids were always considered strong characters, she has really solid setplay, great neutral, her j.(C) and 5(C) are amazing, and MD 6BC is an great clash tool which almost always wins new patch also befenits her because of how hitstun decay is working, don't sleep on Hisui
Did you ever do a video on the Dogura vs Garireo grand finals for Blazblue in 2014? Easily one of the best grand finals of all time with a similar storyline and progression as this. I was watching Evo live with some friends and we were so captivated by that set we immediately ran to gamestop to buy copies of BB to start playing

I would say that Melty and KoF were the best top 8's at evo imo. I actually learned a lot from watching Jing play and now I have a better understanding of how Melty Blood works.
I've gotta admit, watching the Melty Blood top 8 took me for literally 0 interest to very hyped. That, on top of a new patch, has got me considering giving the game a second chance...just a matter of finding a character that I like.
This really was the best Top 8 of EVO 2022. I saw it in-person with my friends and we had a blast. I also managed to meet Uncle_Akkey the next day on our way to finals and thanked him for putting on a fun top 8 with the rest of the players. Melty rules.

I also never know why maids get ranked so high compared to the individual maids, I rarely know exactly what they mean! but this is all pre patch anyway, we'll see where things land soon (and see whether or not I'm still playing maids or switching to Mash :D) game rules
I really think air unblockable setups are fine, but it might need toning down. I always enjoyed ending Akiha combos with disc and letting the enemy air recover into the disc, causing them to be stuck blocking in midair for a free unblockable.

this was the best grand finals that i watched on EVO, absolutely loved this set, i had a lot of fun watching it.

This EVO had a ton of hype top 8s and Melty was one of the highlights. The patch is also doing wonders for the game as of right now.
