I‘m in the process of printing an entire Captain Rex armor. All I can say, thank you so much, I‘ve been searching for a video like this in ages, thanks mate and great video!
Thank you. So straight forward and easy to follow. Was able to do to exactly what I wanted to do within 1 hour of downloading meshmixer without any prior experience. Very helpful.
I am doing a medieval helmet. I considered what you did but I have a cadet 100,100,120mm and with that many pieces I am worried about the strength at all the edge to edge seams. I came up with a possible solution. Take the original Make copy 1. Make copy 2. scale copy 2 to make it smaller by just under 1 wall thickness. Create a union between copy 1 and 2. The result is an extra thick version of the original. Now do a Boolean difference between the original and the thick version. Now you have a version that fits exactly within the original Now cut up both inner and outer helmet making sure that the seams are always offset and never line up. Now when you print all the parts you end up between with a huge glue area between the inner and outer surface, That's my theory anyway. Sound reasonable. I can't check it in practice yet because my downloaded original seems to be full of errors that analysis won't fix so the Boolean union is not working. Yet
Hi I loved this video, tried it and it worked so thanks, I also have question, I put my printer details in and every time I reload it I have put the printer in again, why does it not save my printer.
i was trying to cut down a deer head for printing however when i sliced it using mesh maker some pieces exported in original size some exporting in tiny size
hi Why did I cut and slice my model into pieces with Meshmixer and then put the pieces together vertically in Cura, there were approximately 24 pieces that I was able to prepare for printing in 3 times in Cura, i.e. in 3 stl files, my problem is that I printed the first layer It is printed like a net, which means that it is not like my other prints that the first layer is correct, clean and smooth, what is the problem? I have adjusted my models from left to right and horizontal to vertical to fit more in Cura
very nice and detailed video, thanks for the content. I see we both use the ender3 can you make a video or share a printing profile that doesn't take too long to print? Idk where I f-ed up in mine but the simplest thing just takes tons of hours and the supports are super hard to come out :(
Good video.... 1 question..when u cut and print out pieces, do the parts print out flat where they connect to the rest of the helmet? Or do they print out with joints? TIA
They way that I show in this video they are only flat. In my other meshmixer video I show you how to do it with Joining pins that basically can create a joint effect. I would recommend checking it out.
does it worthless for miniatures? I mean pla miniatures not resin? it is useful to cut the model for (pla printers such as ender 3 or ender 5 )? thx!!!
Yes I cut up my prints for miniatures with pla printing. Reduces supports, makes it easier to print, and it will allow you to get some better detail. I have moved to resin for minis but you can get some awesome prints with pla and switching to a .2 nozzle.
@@Rise3DBuilds Yep I am trying to get a .2 noozle aswell ... one question... for cutting miniatures ? do I need to planning a keying-pinning (key and hollow structure) for parts? one part is male and other female? or just go smooth and flat and with just "glue" I join the parts? thx!
You can do either with minis. The pin gives good strength but often times I will use a hobby drill and make a hole and uses part of a paper clip to connect the parts. I am working on a video on how to do it for the model and mesh mixer
hi mate been following your vid when i drag my mandalorian helmet (cura file) i get computing message but nothing loads just black screen any advice tips please cheers
@@Rise3DBuilds hi m8 my cura works ok just installed mesh mixer following your vid loaded mesh dragged cura file and just got black screen it seemed have loaded as when i try to load another file mesh askes if i want to save file i first file loaded just tried the items built in rabbit etc nothing but black screen thx again
When I edit a gauntlet in meshmixer save and export to Cura. The measurements I did in meshmixer are different in Cura. For example. The wrist opening is 63.5mm. The elbow opening 76.2mm. When I export to Cura. The openings are smaller then what I did. Is there something I need to turn on or off in meshmixer?
Great video, thanks a lot, just have one question, can you tell me please, what are the hardware requirements to be able to use meshmixer? The high ones and the medium please..... And thanks again, keep up the good work :)
System Requirements Meshmixer 3.5 Microsoft Windows 7 or later or OS X / macOS 10.11 or later 4GB system RAM Integrated or discrete graphics card with latest drive
Is there a quick method to reverse this process taking the smaller cuts and reassembling back to a larger piece without having to realign everything again that takes quite a bit of time
Failed at 3:22 - No printer bed shown or printer in top right corner. Set a printer from 'preferences' but still no show on fresh download & install of Meshmixer how do you get the selected printer to show in top right and have a bed displayed the model should reference to ???????.
This video is three years old, but... I just want to say, THANK YOU!
The best explained Break a 3D model video. Thank you!

Thanks for the great info, brother! You broke it down in simple terms for me and I feel like I learned a lot from this!
More meshmixer tutorials, thank you, great video
great straightforward tutorial, appreciated
Thank you
This made it so easy for me to do a quick remix, thank you!

Good info, but hitting your mic was driving me crazy. Thank you for the vid!! Gonna put this to use for sure.

I’ll be trying this exact same thing for my elegoo Neptune 3 plus

What did you use to glue it together
I usually use super glue, depending on the model I will some time use Epoxy or my favorite is to use the 3D printing pen to weld them together

Thanks, and what about the processor?
You know it doesn’t say on the site. This is a single thread application so anything over a i5 would probably be fine
Great, thanks)

My model has a red outline and i cant fix it. any idea how to?

Whats the printer software name, printer software path, format of file to printer software default stl, and command line arguments
This is crazy nonsense, where is automatic cutting? Hello 2022 or 1995?
Luban does it for you
Dude u gotta do something about that banging in your sound. It's very distracting
I'll say
How do I download it? The url doesn't work
Looks like you have to go to the autodesk site now.
Looks like they fixed the site. It is available again.
Is cura free
Yes it is!
