Knowing how to tune your guitar is an important part of being a guitar player. In this video, our expert shows you how to tune your guitar using a tuning fork. You'll be doing it on your own in no time.
Step 1:
To tune your guitar with a tuning fork, tap it on a soft surface to make it vibrate and press the bottom end to the body of your guitar to hear the note -- or you can hold the fork up to your ear.
Tip
The most common tuning fork is the A fork, but you can also find E tuning forks.
Step 2:
If you're using an A fork, start with the 5th string and use relative tuning to tune strings 4-1.
Step 3:
You can tune the 6th string by either matching the sound with the 1st string or with the 5th string, 7th fret. The latter may be a better option since it and the 6th string are close in sound. - แนวปฏิบัติและการใช้ชีวิต
Did you know that if you touch the fork lightly on a string at an A point (1st string 5th fret), when you start tuning that string the fork will get real loud when it's on pitch. Don't press hard like your trying to touch the fret, just ever so lightly.
No, I didn't
I will try it!!
It's quiet, but at 0:43 you can hear a car horn in the background.
Very useful information, a car horn. Thank you.
thank you so much! such a clear explanation! :)
If you have an electric guitar and its plugged in to an amp you can also put the fork up to one of the pickups
I started out playing classical and that's how we all were taught how to tune.
:O there's Tuning forks for bass ? :D
@boyboy1023 ItsHowcast.
@bumbeeyour I know! It's so annoying.
I was learned to put the pitch fork between my teeth, so the whole skull resonates. In consequence you can hear the A note loud and for longer time before it fades.
I stick it in my ear
@chamath1985 What the hell are you sayin??!
@GirlyGirls432 Rebecca Black jokes are over, its Lamar Smith now.

COMMENT IF YOURE WATCHING THIS IS 2015
2 weeks to 2018.
@@skyricq omg whats up
what I didn't understand is, the high E is 2 octaves higher than the low E ...... how come can the high E assist in tuning the low E?
secondly, the 7th fret of the A string (E) corresponds to the 12th fret E of the 6th string, still an octave higher than the open E .....
Abhiishek Bhaduri , yeah, it's another language? i Can't read music.
i guess that if they harmonise well together then that means the low e is in tune
Old video but that is NOT how to use a tuning fork with a guitar.
You use it directly on the strings above specific frets and make the fork resonate.
Doing it against the body can get one string close but leaves you to deal with rest...
HowCast has done everything including dumb things....Howcast is done..
Pancakes.

@chamath1985 Guitarists who only read tab don't use tuning forks. Better put, real musicians use tuning forks.
