Knowing how to tune your guitar is an important part of being a guitar player. In this video, you'll learn how to tune a guitar to E Flat.
Let's talk about E flat tuning. This is a little tricky to do. A lot of groups tune to E flat in order to match the singer's voice a little bit. I can think of Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Eddie Van Halen: they like to tune to E flat a lot.
This is what I'm doing: I'm bringing E, A ,D, G, B, E, and I'm going to flatten all of them. E flat, A flat, D flat, G flat, B flat, E flat. What I'm going to do here is find E flat, and I'm going to tune my sixth string to E flat. I'm going to go to the fifth string, and I'm going to go to the sixth fret, and I'm going to try and match that. I have to come down to flatten.
So I matched that pretty good. Now, from there, I can just use my relative tuning. My sixth string is the note that I want it to be, and I can go ahead and tune the rest of the strings with that.
I'm going to go to the fifth fret of the sixth string to tune my fifth string. Once that's in tune, I can go ahead and do the same thing with the next one.
And then once that's in tune, I can go ahead and do the next one, back at the fifth fret still.
This is that third string where I have to go to the fourth fret.
And then the last one, back up to the fifth fret.
Now, the thing about loosening the strings, is sometimes they take a little bit to settle in. You might find that when you play your chord it's a little bit out of tune, but if that's the case you just fine tune and go back through the same process and make sure that every one of them is in tune.
And there you go. E flat tuning.

@@alanismaxx3328 Im gonna explain it to you. Basically the standard tuning EADGBE means that the strings when open strumming, makes those notes. 6th string is the E note,5th string is A note and so on. So tuning it to Eb or E flat means tuning it a fret lower since each fret on the guitar represents a half-note. For example, the F note on the 6th string would be on the 1st fret because an open 6th string is an E. Flat means Half but backwards. For example, F# is F but a half-note higher. So Fb is F but a half-note lower, which is also the same note as E. That's why you don't see people use Fb as much because they use E instead. The note has no difference just the name. Therefore tuning to Eb just means tuning EADGBE to Eb Ab Db Gb Bb Eb

E flat is standard tuning gone flat. Hence Eb Ab Db Gb Bb Eb. The b symbol means flat. Obviously you need to know how flat to take it. But it's not as hard as people believe.
As a beginner [only been playing guitar about 9 months] I use my tuner that came with my guitar and then tune to standard and then slowly lower the pitch down from it.

The key is to get it right, i.e. from 40 secs to 1:30 min. Mark . Once the 6th string is flattened , then proceed regular tuning procedure., hold down the 6th string in the 5th fret and tune the open 5th string to match the 6th and so on .... this guy and procedure works better than i’ve ever seen on the . Tube... to make it easier buy a snark clip on chromatic tuner about $10 to 15 bucks , u need one anyway ....

If you tune down from E to Eb(D#) i would suggest going up in string gauge.. 10-46 in standard tuning E on a Fender scale 25.5" is pretty tight (Daddario 9.5-44 is easier to bend, i am not fund of 9-42 personally as I find them to soft).. Those 10-46 strings in E-flat tuning will be much sloopier and softer.. So going up to a daddario fusion set like 10.5-48 is recommended..
On a short scale les pal type guitar (24.75") that have less tension than a fender scale, I think 11-49 in E-flat tuning are really great and musical (Slash uses this a lot). Some might find the top strings a little to stiff on the 11-49 set on a 25.5 fender scale even wehn tuned down in e-flat. Depends on finger strenght and if you are a strummer of a big bender...:-)

E on the 5th should sound like A
A on the 5th should sound like D
D on the 5th should sound like G

Tbf this video is only useful if you already know this is what you're supposed to do, this will not help beginners. He's basically like well find the eb and tune to it

Guitarists don't most often tune down a half step to better match the lead vocalist. They do it for two reasons.
    1. To make vibrato and string bending possible when using heavier strings which have more sustain and volume plus stay in tune better and break less often than lighter gauge strings.
    2. Some players believe guitars, especially strats and teles, have a richer sound with more body when tuned down a half step. Just like an acoustic dreadnaught capoed on the fourth fret rings much better and lays better in the mix for bluegrass music in the "high lonesome" key of B played in the G chord form.
If you plan to implement drop tuning, have your guitar set up to accomodate it to prevent string rattling.
