Your explanation doesnt make sense. Mas ok pa sana kung inamin nyo nalang na kinopya talaga dahil inspiration nyo sila. That is more acceptable than that "subconscious" BS youre saying.
Ibang iba talaga ang pinoy no? XD
To start of, Im not a fan of the band. Not even a friend. Im a musician and I really understand where they’re coming from. You are right kaya di na lang sila pinagsalita ng abogado kasi issue pa lalo. That can cost them more. That’s on the business side. But prior dun sa sinabi nya jan. He took an inspiration. Notice he Mentioned that but di na nagkwento pa sa prosesong un. Coz he really did. And the fact that this is supposed to be for a commercial client. At that point di nya naman inisip na that song would blow up. And the fact rin na madalian sa deadline. Think of it this way yes he really did used a little melody of the song and also the intro. But it ain’t his fault why the record company didn’t just admit it that it was a “sample” . They could have paid a considerable price if only they cleared it. Kaso na this is Philippines and the company is cleary want to keep all the $ for themselves, ayun. They went silent. Pero pag nilaban to sa korte, sa usaping “intellectual property rights” there is a big chance na matatalo sila dito. Dito sa video nya it just clearly showed na di na talaga pinagsasalita about the real deal. But in a musicians stand point. This is something out of “inspiration”. “Sampling” kumbaga if you’re taking a part of a song then adding your touch on it.
It would have been ok if they admitted to plagiarizing because of time pressure to produce the song. Especially that ABS-CBN is a big company and PBB was a big show. But to say that it was original and had only "little" similarities is BS. He goes on to say that the intro is different because of one note and let's say that was a coincidence. But how do you explain the melody of the verse? The rhythm? the drum pattern? There are so many similarities to say it was just a coincidence. Here is the original song. Listen to it before you reply th-cam.com/video/Frxl-xONLHk/w-d-xo.html
True. I was expecting that he would admit that the band interpolated “Chandeliers”. Wala namang masama sa interpolation-or even sampling. Such a shame that he cannot admit what he did.
Excatly. Yung intro ng sweetchild o mine kapag binawasan or dinagdagan pala ng isang nota at inangkin mo orignal composition mo yun eh hindi na pala sya plagiarism.
Thank you for this Sir Clementine. Magaling ka pong songwriter at musician, magaganda ang mga kanta hindi lang ng Orange and Lemons but even The Camerawalls. Let this commercial song be forgotten and focus in the future. You and the rest of Orange and Lemons will remain one of the musical luminaries that continue to inspire future musicians. P.S. Pa-restock po ng cassette player bundle ng Love In The Land of Rubber Shoes and Dirty Ice Cream hehe
for me mcoy's voice was the most important ingredient of the song and now clem is taking all the credits. and i don't buy clem's claim that the melody is original. The intro and the entire melody sounds the same to the care's chandeliers
Mcoy Fundales may be the voice but Clem Castro was behind for most of the songs. Parang mas madaling kumanta kaysa gumawa at mag-isip ng kanta. Are you familiar with The Camerawalls and The Dragonfly Collector and heard their songs? As for the intro of the entire melody comparable to Care’s “Chandeliers”, normal lang ‘yan sa music at selective process yan. It may be familiar to those who already have heard “Chandeliers” pero sa majority na hindi pa naririnig ito, hindi pa tama? Try listening to the intro of Switchfoot’s “Dark Horses”; it is comparable to Lenny Kravitz’s “Fly Away” 👌 Nagkaroon ba ng issue sa end ni Lenny Kravitz? Dyan kasi pumapasok yung musical style and influences sa paggawa ng melody, pogi.
hehehe, tama how can you call it original kung meron ka ng pinagkunang melody and ikaw narin nagsabi na meron ng lyrics, sana sinabi mo nalang na REMAKE, or CO-WRITER ka, wag mong angkinin lahat ng credits, just saying dude.
Orange and Lemons became a hit becoz of McCoy's voice. Not to mention the publicity brought about by the PBB franchise..idagdag pa yung issue sa plags. Hands-down sa ibang compo ni Clem though.
@@siadechained9473 Yes Mcoy’s voice is good pero without a good songwriter like Clem, wala din ang boses. Look at Kenyo (Mcoy’s band after Orange and Lemons disbanded), nilangaw sila with the “Radio Surfing” album, puro covers lang ginawa nila Mcoy at Del Mundo brothers. Hindi kumita at nilangaw lang talaga sila comparing to Clem’s success with The Camerawalls. 👌 You haven’t heard of The Camerawalls ‘no?
I thought before that it was unique, catchy and original and makes me proud singing it. Not until I was aware that it's a rip off of a song from Care band. Even minor changes of notes still makes it obvious. Unfortunate.
Yo hands down Orange and Lemons' songs are spectacular. My college days were memorable because of your songs. I think there's nothing wrong with that if legally done. In business there's 'benchmarking", sa youtube gayahan ng content, sa school kopyahan ng ideas, sa automotive kopyahan ng features and designs. I'm just saying. But I'm still a fan of OnL forever na yan in my heart and mind.
It's a commercial jingle for some tv show so to me, it's not really reflective of their band's catalog. I wasn't even surprised to know that it took a lot of inspiration from other songs because most show theme songs from ABS do too. Unfortunately, it got too big because 'masa' ate that song up thinking it was a 'real' song from that band. They sampled the song. Hiphop's been doing that forever. The publisher of the sampled song didn't even care to sue. People should just get over it.
It's okay if two or more songs have the same chord progressions but to copy almost everything including fill-ins, breaks, melody, etc. is a no-no. I was amazed when this band came out because the group's name came from XTC's song "Oranges and Lemons". When they made this song it sounded like Care's "Chandeliers", it changed everything for me.
I think its like the intro of " Ice ice baby" by vanilla Ice and "Under Pressure " by Queen, kinda similar. The song got really big it becomes almost a ffight song for the new generation of Pinoys. Sadly it turns out to be too similar (the intro, progression, verse etc.) And being accused of plagiarism. I still liked the song though. I hope the O L band will make a equally popular If not more popular " pinoy fight song'" in the very near future. Good Luck to Orange Lemon Band.
"and the CARE was one our bands that we cover", "BEFORE WE RELEASE THAT TRACK WE CONSULTED A LOT OF PEOPLE, MY ENGINEER, MY PRDUCER".. hehe kitam bkit klngan mo kumunsulta? hahaha
Just now. Everything is clear to me what really happened why the band broke up macoy wants to make pop hits for the people clem wasn't simple as that. well actually this is a common issue of bands
Okay if ever it was "copied" as some haters are saying in this comment. And even "Your Song" from the same band, alam ko taga La Salle Lipa ang original composer nun. May legal suit ba na humabol sa kanila the fact na local-local yan? The level of hypocrisy lang ng mga tao. PNE's version of "Harana" is different from Eric Yaptangco? Still the same banana. You copied the song, except it was the lyrics this time.
Pero kung tama pagkakatanda ko, when Mcoy joined PBB celebrity edition (wala ng Orange & Lemons nun, Kenyo na yung banda nila) he was claiming ata na sya ang gumawa ng Pinoy Ako... parang sabi niya kay Big Brother "Dahil ba to sa kantang ginawa ko?" Somethinv like that... not quite sure... kaya nagtaka ako kasi alam ko si Clem naman talaga halos ang in-chargee sa mga kanta ng Orange & Lemons
The least he could have done is acknowledge Ian Broudie of The Care. Difficult to deny the song is way too similar to Chandeliers. Intro, chorus even the style of vocalization.
Karamihan nga ng opm ngayon puro gaya at cover.
At the end of the day we enjoy the song a lot of non musician lang naman yung nakiki sawsaw sa ganyang issue Di ako maniniwala sa mga nakiki batikos na hindi sila naki sing along sa kanta na yan haha

there are so many filipino songs that was tagalized from original songs from other countries or even not as directly translated like parokya ni edgar's "Ordertaker", which they called a chopsuey parody mash up, they arent calleod out for plagiarism. They still sold it as their own work though. And if it's really a big deal, why does pbb still use it? it's actually played for too long

wow grabe sobrang honest, real and humble nung interview with Clem! Been wanting to hear these from him too!
Hehe
Not completely honest bro. D ganyan ang sampling e. Intro and verse gaya parang mobile legends vs lol lang.
@@JamesReubenGruta your everywhere bruh.
Ahahaha 😂😂🤣 kasama na rin rin si shaira yung kumanta ng "SELOS" ginaya lang pala sa tono ng Trouble is a friend by lenka 🤣😂
Thank you. More of this please.
Abangan ang mga susunod na OPM stories! :)
Such a shame that he cannot admit what he did.
agree
Excatly. Yung intro ng sweetchild o mine kapag binawasan or dinagdagan pala ng isang nota at inangkin mo orignal composition mo yun eh hindi na pala sya plagiarism.
thank you for this...
❤️🔥❤️
🙌
yes! sana may part 2 :)
Check out the intro of Duerme, Juan by Bravo (1986). Parang intro ng "Pinoy Ako".
I never knew they had issue with the song. You learn something new everyday.
Talagang ganyan ang buhay
Dapat ka ng masanay
Wala rin mangyayari kung laging makikibagay.
thank you clem for bring back orange and lemon again
Dapat sana binago ng kaunti ung chord progression or taasan or babaan para di halata
@@baskboxtv7339 Oo nga noh..
Dun nga Po nila ginaya Yun
Ito ang inaasahan kong paliwanag
Eto explanation dyan @7:06
for me mcoy's voice was the most important ingredient of the song and now clem is taking all the credits. and i don't buy clem's claim that the melody is original. The intro and the entire melody sounds the same to the care's chandeliers
kaya nga. haha
Thanks for the video
Still, both song from Orange and lemons and The Care are very good. I like both band.
OG. Sana "Nobela" naman ng Join The Club. ☝️
Abangan! :)
i hope you grow as a channel. ngayon ko lang kayo nadiscover and im interested about the stories behind songs and other their band
Interesting! Never knew the story behind that popular song. Napapunta tuloy ako Spotify to listen to Orange and Lemons bigla 😁
pakingan mo rin yung THE CARE 😊
since high school, still orange and lemons. bulakenyo!
This reminds me of the song "Take My Breath Away" by Berlin (for the movie Top Gun). It made the band famous, it also broke the band.
Clem Castro being partially honest about Pinoy Ako.. still love ur songs.
The John Lennon of the Philippines (for me).
Di ko akalain magiging sikat pala sila...third year high school ako 4th year nmn sila s MPHS... sila banda ng school nmin kasama p nun Marco Fundales.
Proudly Baliwageño 👌
But it really sounds like Chandeliers - Care
When they made this song it sounded like Care's "Chandeliers", it changed everything for me.
yung story ng NARDA po next. 😊
Somtimes you need to accept the the thruth,,,, It really hurts but it will st you free....
Napaka astig ng Orange and Lemons dati during their heydays iba...
More stories like this please.

Moonlane Gardens was OnL's best album but it was the worst mixed/engineered. It has the most painful cymbals sound ever.
Can't be denied.
Anong music video yung nasa 1:28?
nice content. !!
Sobrang humble 😁
I think its like the intro of " Ice ice baby" by vanilla Ice and "Under Pressure " by Queen,
kinda similar.
"and the CARE was one our bands that we cover", "BEFORE WE RELEASE THAT TRACK WE CONSULTED A LOT OF PEOPLE, MY ENGINEER, MY PRDUCER".. hehe kitam bkit klngan mo kumunsulta? hahaha

Hahahaha!
Agree 👍

O&Lreunion concert please. with Mcoy of course.
Who came here after francine diaz issue??
Same
We need more clem castro in our lives
One of my favorite band OnL ❤️
Eheads! Pa request
same din sa agent orange and martir rivera na may katunog pwede ginaya kc same influence ng artist pero ok lang maganda naman sa pandinig.. cheers
Listen to Care - Chandelier
Bakit nag disband ang orange n lemon?
Man up! Parehas na parehas eh. Aminin mo na. Obvious naman.
Tapos ang usapan... Original tlga pinoy ako
The least he could have done is acknowledge Ian Broudie of The Care. Difficult to deny the song is way too similar to Chandeliers. Intro, chorus even the style of vocalization.
Karamihan nga ng opm ngayon puro gaya at cover.
At the end of the day we enjoy the song a lot of non musician lang naman yung nakiki sawsaw sa ganyang issue
"it took me a day to WORK on the MELODY AND ARRANGEMENTS..."
Guys, listen to Chandeliers by The Care. i'm not tryna hate or sumn but taking credits for something u didn't do? oops teka, nakalimutan ko, pinoy nga pala ang may "gawa"
Haters gonna hate. Alapaap nga inspired sa "Its shame about ray" Lemonheads at "Reach" ng pale fountain pero wala naman nag rereact.
Sa totoo lang kapag nag play ang "Pinoy Ako" sa iPod ko back in HS, automatic skip 'yan dahil pang masa. Walang sinabi yan sa Heaven Knows (This Angel Has Flown)
@@windsedge9303 heaven knows was a masterpiece written by clem
Pinoy ako is pure copy from chandeliers by the care
hay nako ayaw mo pa aminin na kinopya ninyo, obvious naman eh pagrinig mo, respect -
So until now pala di niya inaamin na kinuha niya ang melody sa Diamonds and Emeralds. Sad.
One of my musical influences ❤️
Own it bro!
Magaling kayo. Pero yung Pinoy Ako kinopya yan. Hindi porket di nag demanda “not a big deal.”
Again magaling kayo…
Just take responsibility.
Orange and Lemons for Diamonds and Emeralds by the Care.
Pinoy Ako was not even my favorite on that album i always skip that song while listening on their Disc. it feels that it doesn't Fit the Theme of that album.. i'll always be a Fan of O & L. hands down
I wonder if na-settle ba kaya nila ito with The Care? May nakakaalam ba if hinabol sila nung banda and if ano ginawa ng ABS-CBN na action?
there are so many filipino songs that was tagalized from original songs from other countries or even not as directly translated like parokya ni edgar's "Ordertaker", which they called a chopsuey parody mash up, they arent calleod out for plagiarism. They still sold it as their own work though. And if it's really a big deal, why does pbb still use it? it's actually played for too long
.aminado kasi silang di kanila yung kanta kaya nga PARODY eh sila kasi inangkin nila eh kahit alam nilang hindi kanila eh
