Great tutorial, Lukas. Clear and concise. You’re a wonderful instructor and teacher. We are very fortunate to have you making these videos for us - users of Studio One. Thanks very much for taking the time and effort to make these Studio One videos which make it much easier to learn all the fantastic features in Studio One. 🙏
Thanks for uploading. . The macro toolbar is a great feature & it can be detached from its original position.I would welcome the option to allow us to resize & colour the text and have as many as we desire on multi touch screen in Studio One & the Studio One remote app. This would eliminate the need to midi map the functions.
@@studioonetutorials Hey Lukas, while i have you. I noticed that you can hold CTRL and drag to reorder the buttons. Do you know if there's some kind of way to do this with the plugin lists within folders in Browser? Right now it's locked to alphabetical order. I have many plugins, i want to put my go-to plugins closer the top of the folders i've created. Favourites is not quite adequate for this because it's too broad
@@Barncore Hm yes, it's a different part of the program so unfortunately, CTRL/Cmd only works only in the macro toolbar. The only workaround I can think of is to create a preset for each instrument, save them in a folder, name them to get the desired order (01 NI Kore, 02 Omnisphere, 03 Presence XT etc.) and use the Files tab in the Browser instead of the Instrument tab. I made a video on the Files tab... not exactly what you want but perhaps it gives you some ideas: th-cam.com/video/R8mJgjbTqqM/w-d-xo.html
Thanks for this clear and detailed tutorial Lukas ! Been a S1 user for a few years now and thought macros were too complicated for me so I did not bother reading about it. Now it's all I want to do !
Thanks for the video. I'm new to Studio ONE and very interested in the many possibilities this program offers. So these videos are very important to me. I subscribed to the channel.
Answered a long standing question I had regarding tracks and channels. Just wondering why additional instrument channels associated to an instrument track do not have the option to record/monitor each specific channel possibly as a sub-track to the main track.
Many thanks for a great video Lukas. I wonder if it's possible to make a macro to create an active loop that is based on a selected region in one track.
This does not need a makro. Just choose "Loop Selection" or press Shift+P. Only if you want to activate the loop function, you need a macro ("Toggle Loop" with argument 1).
@@studioonetutorials Thanks for this Lukas. Is there a scripting language one can use for Studio One Pro? I'd like to write a macro that can select all the tracks that are hidden in the track list and mute them all. So often some a playing and you have to unhide, mute and then hide again.
Hi Lukas. I'm trying to create a function that will raise the volume of a selected channel and preferably ALSO lower the volume of all the other channels. This will allow me to use the Listen function as I know it from Cubase. But is there a command to select all channels in the mixer BUT the one I have selected?
I just started in S1 and one of my favorite pair of macros are the Chord Up / Chord Down macros which shift chord inversions up and down. The trouble is, when you select chord notes and perform the inversion shift, your note selections are gone and only the note which was move remains selected. I tried to create a fixed macro, however, even though S1 displays the name of the chord under your time cursor, there appears to be no command to select (or re-select) the notes of the current chord. I would be greatful if you could let Presonus know about this behavior. Thanks!
No, because commands are always executed one after the other. Adding time wouldn't ensure anything anyway, because you don't know how long a command will take to run. If there are commands where this doesn't work as expected, it's a bug and needs to be fixed in Studio One.
I have a touch screen monitor is there a way to unpin the Macro Toolbar in Studio One? It would be nice create macros and use on a smaller touch screen monitor.
i have question..on track bass..i have fx.1 mixtool.2 eq.3 compr. etc..so can macro make it to select 1 to 2 to 3 ect.. like left right arrow on keyboard as next track on console mixer..thanks you
You don't even need a macro for that, you can assign keys to the "Page Up Skip" and "Page Down Skip" commands. I think it's even assigned to Ctrl+Page Up/Down (on Mac it's Cmd+Page Up/Down) by default.
@@studioonetutorials yes..thank you.already try it.it work.and i try DIM to..but not work..i dont know why..maybe just need hardwere like studiolive.i dont have it.so any idea...
For A/B - ing FX, it would be easier to use the Channel Macro tool (click on the small knob icon on the track). I'm sure Lukas can show you how to do that.
You mean by using buttons instead of key commands? Sure. I've run out of key commands. And I prefer buttons for commands or macros that I don't use that often so that I couldn't remember the keyboard shortcut anyway ;-) But macro toolbar + buttons let me group commands that I like to use together.
@@studioonetutorials Cool. I am asking because I have an Editors Keys keyboard that I feel I use to much. I have a Fader Port 8 that gets hardly any use. I would like to use the Fader Port a lot more and the computer keyboard way less. I can't remember all these key commands either. And since you can detach and make the macro toolbar vertical you can add a lot more buttons, Thanks for that by the way. I guess I got some work to do. I am sure I will be in touch at some point. Thanks again for the great video.
I have created several pages within the macro toolbar. I have created a transport panel which I want to be common amongst several of the pages. I can see that I can move the transport panel group to other pages but is there a way to copy and paste groups?
No, you can't copy. But you can export and import the macro page which basically duplicates it. Then you can delete the other groups and move the remaining group to your other page(s).
@@studioonetutorials great stuff, I'll try that. Can the order of the pages themselves be reorganized? I want the pages to reflect the recording, editing and mixing logical order of making music

No, but you can detach it and move it to the bottom. Or use the Studio One Remote app to trigger macros and commands on a separate screen (or window).
